May 23, 2008: Warm & Fuzzy Friday

Traditionally, Friday IOtD images are warm & fuzzy animal pictures.
Now what can be more warm & fuzzy than mama critters feeding the little suckers?

These pictures suck.

And yet you can't wean yourself from them.

That little horse in the first picture must be on steroids. Look at those muscles!

That's what breast milk does for you... can you imagine the hooters Barry Bonds has been sucking? :haha:

I don't understand. Where's their certified lactation consultant??

I never saw bears suckle before and I've watched alot of Wild Kingdom in my day. I wonder if that's how all mommy bears relax while breast feeding. lol

I'd never seen it either, but I guess they would all have to lie on their back or side, being so low slung.

I wonder if critters that fight lie down, and critters that flight, stand up?

As far as I can think - yes.

Although I guess that makes us another category - creatures that reason and live in mutually dependent tribes. We, the monkeys and the apes tend to suckle best in a relaxed sitting position.

That is an interesting point, Bruce. Perhaps some exceptions can be found in marsupials (they are exceptions to many rules, though) and some marine mammals, but it's a good general rule. I like it!

Just don't assume an animal nursing on it's feet, won't kick your ass.:lol:

I read "does" as a noun instead of a verb and spent precious seconds trying to resolve the subject - verb agreement thing. Someday I would like to test drive somebody else's head to see if this sort of thing happens to others, too. :blush:
