At one time I had pondered the idea of becoming a Sociologist and doing something related to Sociology. However, I never really knew what it was a Sociologist did. My turning point happened to be the third Professor I had. Not that he was different than the two previous Professors, it was because he was just like the two previous Professors. I just didn't want to become like these robotic bags of water in leather slip-on shoes whom, I doubt, even realized they were employed.

In college, I did lots of theatre. (No way! Yes, seriously.) One of our yearly shows was a collection of student-written vignettes. This thing had been steadily dwindling in popularity, such that the last year we did it, we had so few submissions that we could not afford to reject many. So it was that we found ourselves performing a "comedic" skit about the future, where everyone speaks out loud in txtspeak. It was completely fucking unintelligible, and the joke was old after about 5 seconds. The audience just had to squirm through the remaining 4:55.
