Australian Doctor Finds Dead Gecko in Chicken Egg

A doctor in Australia this week was shocked to find a gecko inside an egg he had just cracked open as he was cooking his dinner, the Telegraph reported.

Peter Beaumont broke open the egg and found a tiny dead gecko. "I was cracking the eggs into a pan when I noticed one of them was all cloudy. I looked at the shell and saw a tiny gecko," he said in the story.

The lizard was embedded between the interior of the shell and the egg’s membrane, said Beaumont, who believes it climbed into the chicken, possibly to eat an embryo, and got trapped and died in the area where the eggs form inside the chicken.

Beaumont, 60, who is president of the Australian Medical Association in the Northern Territory, believes his discovery could be the first such instance in the world.

I wonder if he screamed like a girl when he saw it.

I know I would have.

lol! I don't think it is a sign of anything, as geckos seem to crawl everywhere..........Reptiles and insects die in some stupid places all the time.

To be fair, the Aussies are pretty much used to reptiles & insects - so I assume it really is an unusual occurrence if it made the papers.

I agree - sign that the world as we know it is coming to an end.
Or at least omlettes as we know it.

apparently aussie chickens are VERY used to geckos if one allowed one to slip up inside it liek that. ew.....

Not a gecko, it's a gildo.

Finding anything in your eggs, other than an egg, is unusual. I will definitely give you that. That's why Easter is really screwed up if you read too deeply into it.

But I really don't think the gecko instance can be put on the apocolyptic scale......Interesting yes, horsemen material? No.

I used to live around geckos. And lots of strange critters....They get into everything because sometimes they know better, and sometimes no.

Alright fine, it's a gecko of the apocolypse, everyone head to your basement and pray now.

If I found a gecko in my egg...id want to wipe very well.
I know that dosn't make sense but then a critter crawling up a chickens butt dosn't make sense either.

If he finds a Neanderthal man in his egg, then we should worry.
