Won't you look up at the skyline
At the mortar, block, and glass
And check out the reflections in my eyes
See they always used to be there
Even when this was all was grass
And I sang and danced about a high-rise
And you were laughing at my helmet hat
Laughing at my torch

So go ahead, you can laugh all you want
I got my philosophy
And I trust it like the ground
That's why my philosophy
It keeps me walking when I'm falling down

Give everyone you meet the benifit of the doubt.
Everyone starts with 100 points.
You have to prove you are a dick to lose points.
Some people lose them a few at a time, some 50 at a time, some never.
Once you lose them it is real hard to get them back.
I forgive but rarely forget.
Screw me and I will give back in spades.
On the same note I will give you the shirt off my back if I think you need it.
Family before everyone else in life.
Live life to it's fullest, Tomorrow you may be dead.
Every meal is your last meal, enjoy it.
Expect the worst, hope for the best, you will never be disappointed in life.
All people are evil and struggle to be good, some are better at being good than others. Some allow the evil to take over, give them no quarter.
Lead, follow, or get the hell out of my way.
Seize the moment.
The first report is always suspect.
When taking command the first order of business is to do nothing.
For everyone who comes to you with a problem ask yourself, is this my problem, their problem, or do they want me to make their problem my problem. Resist the later. Help them figure out how to solve it without you.

The 11 Principles of Leadership:

Know your self and seek self improvement.
Be technically and tactically proficient.
Seek responsibility and take responsibility for your actions.
Make sound and timely decisions.
Set the example.
Know your soldiers and look out for their well-being.
Keep your subordinates informed.
Develop a sense of responsibility in your subordinates.
Ensure the task is understood, supervised, and accomplished.
Build the team.
Employ your unit in accordance with its capabilities.

(I will have to think of some more)

Do whatever will make a good story in five years.

On a more responsible note:
Constantly redefine yourself
I will give you as much respect as you give me

[clichebuttrue]Try to live life to the fullest and take every opportunity because when you die you will fall back to zero no matter how high you got.[/clichebuttrue]

Treat other people as well as you can, as well as you are able.
To do otherwise short-changes your conscience.
And those bills come with high interest.

Be honest and treat people the way you want to be treated.
Be forgiving - we all make mistakes and poor decisions from time to time.

Too much risk aversion is crippling.

Plan to write your memoirs. Make sure you have memoirs worth writing, but make sure you live to write them.

Be excellent to each other. And party on, dudes.

Nothing makes better memoirs, than stories about when you rolled that drunk, had sex with dolphin/shark, or dumped the hooker's body in the public water supply. :blunt:

Those are some good philosophies!

"All that it takes for evil to succeed in the world is that good men do nothing."
is a favorite of mine!

I can't remember who said it first...

Find what you want to do in life, then do it.
Don't stress the details.

I love that one.

One for the road: people, when you get right down to it, are just people. Most of them just want to get on with their lives and do right by their families and their own personal goals. This transcends all religious, ethnic, national, cultural, class or gender divides.

Science is answers that must always be questioned.
Philosophy is questions that may never be answered.
Religion is answers that must never be questioned.
Politics is answers that lobbyists pay for.
