Picture Task

We've had the essay threads, but I thought a thread for designated tasks might be cool.

Must be a pic you have taken.

What were you doing with all that money, Razz?
Razzmatazz13 • Apr 29, 2008 1:25 am
Well you see...my dad has this change jar, right...

And a while back I was kinda bored...

So I went to the bank and got me a whooooollllee bunch of coin wrappers....

and I wrapped allllllll that change and took it into the bank...

over $1,500

I got 10% for counting it...and used some on groceries that week so what you see there is only $1400.

A little girl walks in to a bank with a big jar of nickels.

The teller says, "Wow, little girl, did you hoard all of those nickels yourself?"

And the girl says, "No, my sister whored half of them."

So Ferrari just puts a pane of glass between the driver and engine? Is that enough of a fire wall? WTF? And how loud is that in your ear?
DucksNuts • May 1, 2008 6:59 pm
Someone pick a new one for the weekend???

That ain't noise, that's music. The Honda sports car uses double glass, with a vacuum in between, to cut down noise transmission.
BigV • May 2, 2008 10:43 am
It appears so. Firewall adequate? I guess so. Glass burns about as well as metal. I don't know how loud it is, but I'll try to find out. If I do, I'll tell you. :driving:
LabRat • May 2, 2008 10:48 am
Are the window defroster lines really necessary? I mean, a freaking engine is 6 inches below the glass!! I doubt one takes the Ferrari to save the 'good' car when the weather turns bad. But, if that is the case, my number is:

Jubilee (def: any season or occasion of rejoicing or festivity)
glatt • May 2, 2008 11:29 am
I'm having a hard time with the Ferarri. I know, it's not supposed to be practical.

But have you ever looked at the underside of a car's hood? (Bonnet for you crazy ferriners.) They are filthy. Is the owner of this thing supposed to get the Windex out after every drive in order to clean the underside of that rear window?

Or don't Ferrari drivers need rear visibility? How are they gonna see the flashing blue lights with the oil schmutz all over the underside of that window?
xoxoxoBruce • May 2, 2008 11:34 am
Not always filthy, depends on the owner. Same with the guys on the SSR forum, you could eat off of most of the engine compartments.
SteveDallas • May 2, 2008 11:52 am
Perhaps if you can afford the car, you can afford a servant to scrub it with a toothbrush after every drive.

Where is that V?

I've never been in the plant, but it made me think of Snoqualmie Falls. We used to take out-of-town relatives there. Quite a beautiful spot. Plus it is so cool how the power plant doesn't intrude on the beauty of the falls.

Snoqualmie Falls

At 268 feet, this water fall is 100 feet higher than Niagara Falls. This location has great religious and historic significance for the Snoqualmie Native American Tribe.

You can view this popular natural wonder from a viewing platform owned and operated by Puget Sound Energy. Access is from State Route 202 one mile west of the Northwest Railway Museum in Snoqualmie.

This location has the world's oldest underground hydro electric generating station. Now owned by Puget Sound Energy, this facility's original generators are still in service!

This plant is a National Civil Engineering Landmark and was carved into the bedrock beneath the falls in the late 1890's. The old buildings across the river are the elevator shaft, machine shop, and carpentry shop, all over 100 years old. Please note that the south side of the river is closed to the public.
You're good.

The view from the top, very low water....

More of the powerhouse, the turbine (maybe not called that.... too lazy to verify). Link to pic with High water.
dar512 • May 2, 2008 5:47 pm
Did you visit the train museum down the road? I suspect SonOfV would like it.
BigV • May 2, 2008 5:51 pm
We did not, but I reckon there would be many photo ops for Power Pictures there as well.

The power station was awesome. I swear you could feel the power in the air--no hyperbole. Massive ponderous inexorably powerful machines, humming, vibrating... It was really cool. I have another shot of them standing in the exhaust of the fans... they look like they're taking off. It was really cool.
DanaC • May 2, 2008 6:19 pm
I'd like to post something for Jubilee, but I don't have anything to hand. So...for now I'll post a couple for 'Power'

1. King of all he surveys....
busterb • May 2, 2008 6:23 pm

DanaC • May 2, 2008 6:26 pm
2. A tumbledown cottage reclaimed by nature. The power of the root.
