April 24, 2008: Bomb Damage

We hear about terrorist suicide/homicide bombers, all the time.
We hear the locations, the number of victims and occasionally some pundits guess as to who and why.
There might even be a poignant picture of blood stained victims or sobbing kin.
Cut to commercial, promising the five day forecast, if you stay tuned.

But did you ever wonder what the victims actually felt?

Bodies riddled with nuts, bolts, screws and nails.

Or somebody's watch embedded in a neck.

This is why so many die, even with medical attention. First aid, won't do.

Horrible.
But strangely beautiful.

And how poignant that as a species we are developed enough to see inside eachother's bodies - I mean how magical is that?! - and yet we also use intelligence to figure out the maximum damage explosives and metal can do to human flesh.

if you look at it from an artistic point of view rather than bodies riddled with random objects, its beautiful.

I don't get the beautiful comments. Chicago at night was beautiful. These grainy black and white images with random junk in them contain information and are interesting, but I wouldn't call any of them beautiful. Not trying to pick a fight or anything. I'm just sayin'. :)
