April 16, 2008: Deer in Eveleth, MN

I am originally from Duluth, MN and my mom sent me this photo with this explanation.

For those not from Minnesota, we had a huge snowfall in Northern Minnesota in April 2008. This picture was taken by a little town called Eveleth.

Snow?! In April?!

Does it seem to you we have an unhealthy obsession with ungulates 'round here?

so I find myself worrying how these critters will be able to eat. That's a lot of snow to dig through to find food...

You can detect the faint outline of one jockey's shin behind Deer 2's rump,
between the Sharpie lines I've drawn on my monitor.

Yet another example of global warming.

We had snow in April in London.
Unheard of! But wonderful.
Of course it only settled on top of cars and fences, but it was pretty while it lasted.

In Minneapolis, March is the snowiest month.

On the really cold days it might snow a little, but sub-zero air can't carry that much moisture.
