Drink Unit Calculator

In discussions about how much we drink, I have mentioned units of alcohol and Govt guidelines. I don't think it came across well as a comparison because we use different terms and different measurements.

So here is a units calculator - for future reference and in case anyone wants to calculate their own alcohol intake using our system. You can convert ml to cl in your head, but if you want to go from imperial measurements I recommend this site.

For the record - our guidelines are no more than 14 units a week for a woman and no more than 21 for a man. If anyone wants to 'fess up their units I'd be interested to hear whether you think the guidelines are too strict, too lax or about right.

My absolute maximum comes out to 25 units in a week--that's based on four Scotches and three Martinis in the amounts I usually make. Considering that I hardly ever have a drink every single night for a week, it's probably safe to say that I don't hit the 21 units often, but I do sometimes.

My average is way under 21 units per day.

Recently I've brought myself down to around 21 units a week - that's a lot for a gurl, but then I weigh as much as a rugby prop-forward* anyhows, so does that make it better?
