For some reason, I am craving Apple Jacks. I haven't had Apple Jacks in a thousand years. What made me think of Apple Jacks? I mean, I'm gonna go vote then stop and get me some Apple Jacks!

Anyone have any odd cravings lately?

We had freezing rain, so after I voted I was not in the mood to traipse through more rain and ice so I didn't get any Apple Jacks. And so, like cereal grains in the wind, the urge has passed. Froot Loops are sounding pretty good, though. ;)

Wow, Pie...that is so cool. I haven't been there in way too long, which is why I have been craving it for forever.

Coldstone Creamery is WAAAAYYYYYYYYY too expensive. Not in a million years would i pay that much for an ice cream.
Aliantha • Mar 5, 2008 10:11 pm
I wonder if Coldstone over there is the same as Coldrock that we have here.

Either way, it's very nice icecream I think.
Aliantha • Mar 5, 2008 10:12 pm
Apparently not from what I can tell, but they probably got the idea from the US.
Perry Winkle • Mar 6, 2008 4:58 am
Coldstone serves overpriced ice cream that only tastes decent because they pack it full of overpriced sweets.

If that's not enough, try this.

If I want something like they make at Coldstone I'll just buy a tub of okay ice cream and mix in what I like. Easy and cheap.

I was checking out Busters food pics and I remembered his scotch eggs. I never tried them but they sound great.

Then I found this recipe for Scotch Ostrich Egg. Now that's exotic.
Sundae • Apr 19, 2008 7:56 pm
We made scotch eggs at school.
Grim.
It was called Food and Nutrition! No idea how that worked.

But hey - looking at my earlier entry I got the job & I have the cold can. Result.
So as this thread seems to be some sort of cosmic ordering device I would like a man please. Someone who is good to me, and I find permanently sexually attractive (missed the first part out of my last request, the second out of the previous). Intelligent, makes me laugh, values the same in me, stands up to me, helps me address my issues without dominating me, can say, "No" when necessary. Adores me.

In return I make him laugh, find him sexy, care for him when he's at his least appealing, want to be with him, don't get jealous - or deal with it myself if I do, give him space, control my temper.

Hey, look cosmic ordering. I can manage my side of the bargain. I'll also give him great sex (inc oral, anal, role-playing) and many little thoughtful gestures. I'll (mostly) keep the house and cook and wash. I'm happy, indeed prefer, to work - I'm not materialistic and if we don't have the living standard I expect on our joint incomes I will increase mine. However I'm not career minded and won't compete with him.

I just want to be loved, and give love in return.

Thank you

Oh yeah, we had to make scotch eggs too. Why? For the love of all things tasty..... No wonder Britain has such a (falsely) crappy reputation for food when we export those.

I had scotch eggs for the first time about 2 months ago at a Scottish restaurant here in town. Goddamn...they were fucking good! I keep getting cravings for them, but haven't had them since.
Sundae • Apr 20, 2008 6:58 pm
I crave char sui bao.
I had them about two years ago, when I was first off with depression.
I came down to see HM (as a visit, but the seeds of living together were planted) and he took me for dim sum.

I ate my char sui bao with such relish he let me have his - and the tase and mouth memory stayed with me for months. It even became something of a beacon in days where I had no interest in anything.

So in fact it is a two year old craving that I fear can never be assuaged because nothing could live up to the memory. Unless I starved myself for two days previously or something.

I am craving motivation: I have to drive 45 minutes into town, get an oil change, get groceries by way of already used paper sacks and water gallons, drive back home, make dinner, do laundry, and have a 4 page manual completed including banner that will translate to the web, with full color photos and a half assed text logo for the company on all pages before I go to bed.

It's my last day to be at home before starting the new job tomorrow. I don't really want to do much.....Must get off the internet and get my lazy butt in gear even though I believe my last day not working should be spent with the books I am currently reading in my pajamas all day long.

That blows.

"Daddy's potatoes" ...at least that's what I always called them when I was little. Nobody was quite sure exactly how to make them cause dad's a bachelor...whatever we have on hand is fair game. Found a can of diced potatoes in the cupboard today, and pieced together what the recipie must've been given what we had on hand today. Perfection.

The UK is split - bacon, sausage (links) and egg are all breakfast items, and all generally accompanied by either tomato ketchup or brown sauce. I'm in the brown for all three, but I know people who pick and choose.

Even Subway & McDonalds offer brown sauce as a standard option.

Thanks, Sundae, didn't make it here last night. I can't imagine steak sauce and brown sauce can be that far apart, but Brit expat HP lovers are apparently not satisfied by steak sauce. brown sauce is sorta tangy fruity apparently and steak sauce isn't. HP (the only brand I've had) brown sauce is sort of a cross between Heinz 57 and A1 steak sauce.

HP BBQ sauce is a damn near exact copy of KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce. It's friggen scary.

I have been on a major cobb salad jones for a long time. Each time I start to assemble the ingredients (I have a perfect combo) the family intercepts a crucial part.

Now I need to find bacon.

There was a restaurant near where I worked in Stamford al ong time ago which made an amazing Cobb salad, with warm chicken breast. It was righteous.

bbro • May 12, 2008 12:13 pm
monster - Heinz actually makes a sauce called Heinz 57. According to the website it is described as
Heinz 57 Sauce
Our secret blend of premium herbs and spices has made Heinz 57 Sauce an American favorite for over 90 years! With a unique rich flavor unequalled by any other Steak Sauce, it's no wonder that Heinz 57 Sauce is served in America's great Steak Houses.

Heinz 57 (varieties) is the logo on all British Heinz products (unless it changed since I left). We specify them by name, e.g. Ketchup, Baked Beans, Spotted Dick....

You Americans... *sigh* ;)

Heinz may be American by origin, but I think they have a larger market share in the UK than they do here -we all grew up with Heinz -Heinz baked beans are the staple Brit food.
