lumberjim • Feb 19, 2008 11:02 pm
this dude is in like 4 different commercials for different companies.

there's a cereal commercial, and a verizon commercial....and one more i forget right now. so what the hell?

i predict that he's being groomed for a new sitcom. anyone know his name?

classicman • Feb 26, 2008 11:14 pm

lumberjim • Jun 11, 2008 8:50 pm

Undertoad • Jun 11, 2008 9:00 pm

Progresso Light soups

Of course, he was a cop in Jericho. Played the cop that was nice but not so bright.

I loved that show. ::sniffle::
lumberjim • Jan 21, 2009 12:54 am

also, she is how i picture brianna in my mind
Shawnee123 • Jan 21, 2009 8:10 am
She cracks me up. Her comedic timing shows through even in a commercial. Just a small thing where she goes "(hesitate for a split second) Yeah."

But she also kind of reminds me of Abby on NCIS.
capnhowdy • Jan 24, 2009 10:31 pm
Her greatest whoot:
Playing the noisemaker and saying "I wrote that". Melikes
wolf • Jan 24, 2009 11:12 pm
I tend to respond to commercial actors either with amusement, indifference, or "Hey, do you remember when he played the kid that was having sex with his therapist on Judging Amy?"
Razzmatazz13 • Jan 25, 2009 12:53 am
I HATE the Flo lady. Annoying as hell. UGH.
jinx • Jan 25, 2009 1:00 am
She's in this commercial too... says "It smells so fresh in here".

lumberjim • Jan 25, 2009 1:55 am
i think she looks like those old playboy cartoons....all black and white except for the bright red lipstick......
Shawnee123 • Jan 26, 2009 7:20 pm
But the glade lady is the worst! I just want to smack her.
Beestie • Jan 26, 2009 8:27 pm
I can tolerate all the above. But where I draw the line is with Billy Mays.

And now, the ShamWow guy who is also pimping the slap chopper.

I suspect that he wrote that himself.

I love the bit about Scientology.
dmg1969 • Jan 27, 2009 12:10 pm
I kind of like Flo and I can handle the Glade lady, but I draw the line at Billy Mays. Anyone who screams at me about their product just gets under my skin.
Pie • Jan 27, 2009 12:24 pm
I like Flo. She's a good barometer for self-aware irony. My mom doesn't get her at all.

Glade lady makes me want to stab her with a fork. Her character has no capacity for self-mockery.

Mays, et al go in one ear and out the other. Like car commercials.
jinx • Jan 27, 2009 12:26 pm
I just want him to stop yelling... he's like a crazy person...
dmg1969 • Jan 27, 2009 3:22 pm
I'd like to see if his Mighty Mend-It works on his lips. :)
capnhowdy • Jan 27, 2009 8:11 pm
I'm waiting on Mays to come out with an ad about 'Mighty Buddy' the breakthrough male sex doll.
May: "But wait! Be one of the next 8000 callers and I will personally pay you a visit in YOUR HOME and lick your lightpole!"
What a schmorg.
soulkat9 • Jan 30, 2009 2:23 pm
Oh man i cannot stand that lady in those progressive auto commercials, i dont care how many discounts she wants to give me haha

I hate the guy in the pirate outfit singing about how he had his id stolen. He looks like a guy that should have had it stolen. Not sure why anyone would want it.
capnhowdy • Feb 9, 2009 9:19 pm
Yup. And I wonder if you can actually SEE an atom bomb coming at you.

DangerouslySimple • May 7, 2010 5:25 am
wow, I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking "Well, ya don't have to worry about Billy Mays any longer"

I'm sorry, was that too soon?

this guy, actually sued his own bread and butter, by claiming that freecreditreport.com was actually NOT free after all. He sued them for false advertising I think. Talk about ironic, seeing as he's the face of all of the advertising they do.
lumberjim • Nov 25, 2014 9:44 pm
Theres a new guy

Clodfobble • Nov 26, 2014 12:20 pm
I cannot get a large enough percentage of his face on my screen at one time to see who it is.
Gravdigr • Nov 26, 2014 1:04 pm
I was gonna ask for a larger pic.

Mo betta?
Gravdigr • Nov 26, 2014 1:06 pm
Heh, in the big pic you can see the guy that is taking his photo, reflected in his eyes.

Dark shirt, red/orange shorts, looks like outside on a porch. Maybe someone to the photog's right.
Clodfobble • Nov 26, 2014 3:28 pm
It's like in a crime procedural... "Wait a second. Zoom in there. Enhance that. OMG there's his murderer across the street!"
footfootfoot • Nov 26, 2014 4:03 pm
I suspect the eye reflections were added. The lighting looks way too much like studio lighting to be shot on a porch, eps. given the super hi res of the image, but I could be wrong.
Gravdigr • Nov 26, 2014 4:14 pm
Getting pretty annoying scrolling, and scrolling, and scrolling, and scrolling...
Gravdigr • Nov 26, 2014 4:14 pm
...and scrolling, and scrolling, and scrolling trying to get by that gimormous pic.

I was trying to imagine why anyone would bother adding eye reflections, but maybe it's precisely because studio lighting gives a weird, unnatural eye reflection? Enough to make people feel "off" about it, but not be able to explain why?

On one of Stephen Colbert's book covers, the eye reflections were tiny, almost imperceptible eagles. I always thought it was strange, that someone would decide to make the effort to put that little detail in there, but if it were already standard practice to fix the eye reflections, so you knew you were going to have to choose something...
footfootfoot • Nov 26, 2014 5:24 pm
Maybe it's like an easter egg? Most of the eye reflections I've looked at showed the studio light set up. Well that is to say I only look when I am trying to figure out the lighting set up and look for clues in the catch lights.

Wow. out of curiosity I googled catch lights. It apparently IS a common practice. I linked to search resluts.
DanaC • Nov 26, 2014 6:12 pm
Awesome. You learn something new every day. I wikid catch lights and found this interesting little snippet:

Audiences usually perceive eyes without specular highlights to be lifeless or evil, and for this reason many cinematographers specifically eliminate catch lights on antagonistic characters.

Imma so look out for that now.
footfootfoot • Nov 27, 2014 12:11 pm
When I was a gaffer and photo assistant I remember a lot of agonizing over getting a catch light in someone's eyes and the fussing around with a surprisingly small light at bizarre angles to set a catch light.

That was back when we had to carry our gear through the snow, uphill, to the shoot and back. But we were happy in those days, even though we were poor...
lumberjim • Nov 27, 2014 12:20 pm
You can't tell how huge on my phone. Too late to edit now, so suck it.
Undertoad • Nov 27, 2014 8:05 pm
I saw Original Mr Commercial Guy in a commercial today! It happened so fast that I forgot to notice what commercial it was.

He's still at it, good for him.
footfootfoot • Nov 27, 2014 8:36 pm
Isn't he also the husband on Orphan Black?
