Am I Dying???!

For at least the last 3 months, I have had an ocasional metal taste in my mouth. When I first srated tasting it, I just thought it was from something I ate. But for the last 4 days, It has not gone away. Its on the tip of my tounge and the only temporary solution I can do is chew gum or drink ice or something.

The only medication I take is prevacid (for acid reflux) and I have been taking it for over a year. Could it be a side effect that I am now getting from it? Or Is it an early sign of developing a stomach ulcer?

I should add the I regularly brush my teeth as well as about a gallon of mouthwash a week (I smoke cigarettes)

Its starting to piss me off.

the next time I can see my doc is next monday...

a) it's most likely nothing
b) only going to see a doctor could confirm that.

Try not to think about it in the meantime. If you can't see the doc til monday then worrying about it in the meantime won't help, it'll just ruin a few days over something that is most likely going to be trivial.

Other than that I have no useful (?) advice ;P

My dentist on my last visit told me to cut back on the mouthwash to once a day. Too much (alcohol based) can dry out and damage your gums eventually making them bleed. Could be the root of your problem.

Don't worry, you're just being turned into a cyborg by Von Neuman nanomachines. Nothing to worry about. Just relax, and the let bots do their work...

Certain drugs, most notably the antibiotic metronidazole may cause metallic taste, or you could have a build up of copper in your body, or lots of other things. Bad amalgum fillings can cause metallic tastes as well.

You should see your doc.

Good point about the fillings Ali.

You might want to see your dentist too, if you have fillings.

I've been dying since the day I was born. I think I only have 50 or 60 years left to live.
