The State Of the (troubled) Union

Shawnee123 • Jan 29, 2008 11:38 am
A satirical article outlining Bush's glaring omission of human-animal hybrids issues:

http://campaignstops.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/01/29/state-of-the-union-a-shocking-omission/?hp

Our guesses — and please bear in mind that we are neither pundits nor smart people — were:
Form: Macaroni collage
Content: In-depth analysis of monumentally important human-animal hybrid controversy
Delivery Method: Ice Cream Truck
Broadcast Medium: Tin cans, string
Boy, was our collective face red! Turns out, Bush chose to go with:
Form: Speech
Content: Economic stuff, Incentive stuff, Legacy stuff
Delivery Method: Mouth

Funny stuff.

An editorial which echoes my feelings about the State of What We Should Be If Only Damn Congress Would Listen To My Smug and Perfect Self:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/29/opinion/29tue1.html?hp

Mr. Bush still has a year left — and many serious problems to address. It is time, finally, for him to put aside the partisanship, the bluster and the empty rhetoric. The state of the union is troubled. The nation yearns for leadership.

The speech was a joke. Anyone else?

Man, you gotta have an opinion:

Aww man, come on! Did no one watch? Does no one care? Do you all want to love him and marry him and have his babies?

We get pooh-poohed for caring that Heath Ledger died or for discussing Britney foibles, but no one here has anything to say about the President's last State of the freaking Union? You bunch of political freaks? Ha!

You can put aside your disregard of me to give an opinion, can't you? [/waxing draxconian]

I watched. Bleh.

I did get a kick out of it when he used the phrase "a charge to keep".

He's a maroon.

I liked his defense of No Child Left Behind, which could be renamed to "No School Above Cheating."

I had taped "Chuck" from last week and watched that. After "Chuck" was over, I watched some program on PBS about variously disabled folks rafting down the Grand Canyon, and how they managed. Made me want to go hike the canyon again.

I saw about 5 seconds total of the State of the Union as I flipped around looking for a channel that didn't broadcast it. If he said anything important, it would have been in the paper in the morning.

The only thing important to me that Bush could say would be "Bye"

There was also a Middle East peace treaty created in Annapolis. Reality and what George Jr says .... it need not be explained.

I also did not know he had a State of the Union speech because even the press hardly mentioned it. Speech was, like George Jr, irrelevant. Americans have finally acknowledged that George Jr is not god's prophet. That terrorists were never hiding in the dark waiting to murder us all. Amazing how many times a wacko extremist mental midget can lie before people finally hear ‘Wolf!’ once too often.

Ahh but then someone still claimed WMDs were found in Iraq. George Jr still has a few loyal disciples. How many disciples does David Duke still have? Maybe his speech would have resulted in better ratings?

Charlie Rose gathered a staff of moderates in a discussion probably intended to discuss that speech. Instead, they discussed something far more significant that also happened on Monday.
