Funeral playlist

What songs do you want played at your funeral? (Gotta be prepared, ya know.) So far, I've got:

Who Wants to Live Forever? -- Queen
My Sweet Lord -- George Harrison
Amazing Grace -- various, but Joan Baez's is nice

What else? . . . maybe Love Shack? :D

"Dead Man's party" - Oingo Boingo.

Although I won't be having a funeral. Anything that can't be donated to another living person is going to research.

The Wife and I were discussing this the other week.

We came up with a tentative list -

Laguna Sunrise - Black Sabbath
Orion - Metallica
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida - Slayer
Hear My Train A-Comin' - Jimi Hendrix

And since we're going to be cremated -
Fire Woman - The Cult (hers)
Firehouse - KISS (mine)

Of course, things might change between now and then...

Well, we both like the song, but more than likely, that one might come off the list.

Van The Man- When ever God shines his light.

Oh yea, I want my wife to throw a party and get laid. She's not down with that yet.

A friend of the family had "my way" by Sinatra (of course) at his funeral. That was actually a huge tear jerker for me, cause he really did do it his way. It was fitting.

When we have mum's funeral I sang Amazing Grace for her because she asked for it. We have Sarah McLaughlins "arms of the angel" as people were leaving the church. Ave Maria was played on the violin by one of my cousins as people were arriving.

It's important to have the right music at a funeral. The wrong sort of music can just make the whole thing even more dreadful than it already is.

I make no requests or demands. Stuff me in the bin and go to the pub. If want to remember me, stick this on the Jukebox.

If you must do a ceremony thing and want my input, this

Sympathy for the Devil? Just in case a little ass-kissing is in order . . .
Trilby • Jan 15, 2008 7:16 am
definitely Sympathy for the Devil.

Also: Non, je ne regrette rein (Piaf) (accompanied by photos of me in youthful indiscretions including Pink Floyd/quaalude night)
Godzilla (BOC)
Ring of Fire (Cash) (I'm being cremated, too)
and as the exit song: Jive Talkin' (Bee Gees) I want people to boogie a little on their way out and think, "Hey! Let's go to a disco!"

I think it will be most fitting that you 'live' on as a halloween decoration.

Practical note to all, my Dad planned his funeral for years, making up a tape of the three songs he wanted, he was a Big Band fan, so particular recordings of the songs too, sometimes changing them with time.

When it came to the day, a) the Crematorium couldn't play tapes, only CD and we only had a short time to try and properly identify some of the recordings and try and source them, b) they were funny about copyright as it is a public performance c) Even though there were only three, there wasn't time within the slot to play them so they got part played at the beginning and end. I was annoyed but Mum didn't have a problem with it.

Nail on the head, dude. Or maybe nail in the head? you go for it. Then you can say your wife gave you head on her deathbed.
