Family Feud (Fortunes) Help Please

Sundae • Jan 11, 2008 6:56 am
My bro sets questions for a quiz on a regular basis. He wants to vary the format a little and is including a round of Family Feud (Family Fortunes in the UK).

No idea how he is scoring it, but these are the questions.
He needs answers from a reasonable amount of people to make it work and I offered your services :)

Please can you copy the questions and reply in white so you don't influence other people's responses? I'll collate all the answers and mail them to him next week.

Would it be better to just PM you with our answers? it would prevent us from being influenced by others, and be easier than the white ink trick.
And do you want the first thing to pop into our heads, or what we consider to be the most appropriate.
Cause if it is the first thing, my answers are mostly going to be SEX or BEER. Maybe BACON. ;)
Well, it fits for a few questions.

Name something associated with the country Wales -

I've been to Wales, and it's a really nice place. I have no idea why this popped into my head, but "sheep fucking" was the first thing to register. That's supposed to be Scotland though, isn't it? You shouldn't be asking Americans these things.

You know, I hate this game. I hated it when it was a tv show, Richard Dawson? (Gawd. I looked it up and I *did* remember it correctly. Why, o, why am I wasting brain cells remembering the name of a host of a game show that I hate?)

The whole premise of the show, think like a sheep and be quick about it; the better sheep you are, the less original, the less creative, the less intelligent you are the more you will be rewarded--offended me. People were being encouraged to be stupid. This was alarming to me and I think it's a direct precursor to lots of other shit tv that carried on even to today, often to levels of painful wincing caricature. Jerry Springer comes to mind. (Yes, I know that's not a game show. The people on both shows all battle to be "The Stupidest!") I am embarrassed for all of them. Are they all too stupid to feel shame? Apparently. [/rant]

Ok. I feel better.

I like games too, so here's my two cents worth:

leeks are associated with Wales?

Yup. It's a national symbol. It's associated with St David. Though the suggested connection of David having ordered his soldiers to wear leeks in their helmets at Heathfield in the sixth century is tenuous to put it mildly. It's most likely to have been a Tudor invention for some kind of propoganda purpose.

Alternatively, one could suggest that rather than encouraging people to join the herd, it encourages observation of the herd. Which can be a good thing. It's a valuable social skill to be able to predict the behaviour of others.

Spider-Man fought the Green Goblin.
