Sci-Fi/Fantasy movie or TV costumes - which would you like to wear

richlevy • Dec 25, 2007 12:09 pm
I was thinking about some of the sic-fi movies (and TV series) and I thought about the costumes. Some of them are just slightly stylized versions of what we wear or wore (medieval). Some films (Fifth Element) really push the edge on costumes.

So what costume have you seen onscreen that you would like to own and wear, and not just for Halloween.

I read a story about a kid who wore a Battlestar Galactica jacket. That sounded good.

I thought the hat from Wing Commander would be nice for winter. Alright, it looks slightly dorky, but so does any watch cap.

I never wanted the typical Princess Leia's slave girl costume - wouldn't suit my figure even when honed and toned. But I loved Padme Amidala's formal robes in Episode 1. There was something of the geisha about them despite the fact they were modest and inflexible. I would like to have something that outre, which still acts as a kind of armour between me and the rest of the world.

But if we're talking "What would you like to own" it would have to be a Wonder Woman costume. I'd tie men up with my lasso of truth and take advantage of them. What? I'm not a goodie, I'm just dressed like one.

WTF is that from?

Zardoz! And yeah, that's Sean Connery.
Clodfobble • Dec 25, 2007 11:09 pm
Zardoz.

What's really amazing is he did this movie in the middle of his Bond career, it's not like he was hurting for acting jobs by that point.
Flint • Dec 25, 2007 11:12 pm
WTF are you trying to imply? This was the highlight of his, or any other, career. The best movie ever made.

With some weight loss and toning - would wear this in a heart beat.

For practicability as sci-fi uniform wear, it's a tossup between the red jacket suits of the second Star Trek movie and the gritty-macho look of the new Battlestar Galactica.

Sci-fi paperback cover art used to have an endless reiteration of doublets-and-jackboots-and-hose, oh my. I got bored with looking at it, but as garb it may actually be practical and comfortable.

Nobody knows why Zardoz happened, but might one suspect pervy studio suits?

For something forgiving for many figure types, how about the outfits in this thing? -- Girl Genius -- for outfits, read through some from the "Start" button. (Where do you go for bright green tweed?)
Elspode • Dec 29, 2007 3:36 am
I'd wear most anything from most any Sci-Fi, as long as it isn't a red shirt from Star Trek TOS. I don't wanna die.

Ensign Elspode please accompany Mr. Spock to the surface.

I like the Firefly Wild West gear.

I've always desperately wanted the scarf Tom Baker wore as Dr. Who. I've been tempted to learn to knit (and have tried to trick my SO into learning it) *just* to achieve that little bit of nerdness. I've seen a pattern out there...

Edit:

Ah! This one! Instructions and all.

I'll make that for you for 300.00.

I have always wanted Lady Arwen's wardrobe. All those rich velvets and stuff...and I would want hair like that too...mine just wouldn't look right if it were that long. It would be like a few pieces of yarn.

Wow. You're baaaaaaaack...

On a different note, I, too, would love to wear that powersuit.
