Opening the Secret Santa Gifts

This will be the thread where you post what you got, who you think it's from, your gratitude etc....

But for now, let's decide when they get opened....


When would you be able to be online, relaxed etc....

The time will be 11pm -1am GMT -which is 5-7pm Eastern, 8-10am ish-I-think for the Aussies.....

But if this time sucks for you, suggest an alternative and we'll see how it goes.

Pick a date, thoyugh -let's at least narrow it down that way.

Of the 20, 4 recipients are outside the US. Including the Secret Santa Initiator, who is in the UK.

whenever sunday...its the only day im guaranteed to be off. apart from xmas eve and xmas...but i will probably be otherwise occupied those days

Every night from the 24th onward I'll be retardedly busy, especially around dinner prep time (since right now we're looking at 4-6 PM Central.)

Either Sunday or Saturday would be best for me--I voted Sunday to give an extra day for shipping times. But just to be sure, Sunday in America is 8-10 AM on Monday for Aussies, right?

i can't commit to any fixed time. i'm sorry but my life just won't work that way right now.

Any time after Sunday I am at my parents and can pick and choose when I log on. Sunday am here in London and will have to specifically ask to borrow the laptop. It's not a big deal - it's just the reason Sunday isn't my first choice.

None of the suggested times and dates are impossible for me though so I will go with the majority.

I voted for Wed the 26th, but that's only because that's the only day of the choices that I'll have net access (I only have it at work, and am taking all the rest of the days off except for the 21st, which seems a little early for those trying to send internationally)

Anyhoo, if mine arrives by the 20th I'd be happy to send pics to someone on the 21st to post them at the appropriate time since I likely won't be able to login during the right window. Otherwise, I'll have to wait till the 26th or 27th, whenever I decide to come back to work :D

I am very likely going to be out of town the entire week, with the possibility of having a little time on Friday.

Since it's a thread and not chat, I don't really see that we need to all be here at the same time anyway. People could just open/post pictures as is convenient for them, and follow up with admitting to who the givers were over the next few days.

I agree with Clod & Cic - I won't be available during the weekend. So maybe when we receive it.

I'll have no internet access from Sun 23rd until late on 29th. I think anytime after a certain date would be cool ...

I'll try not to make mine (return address that is) too prominent. I happen to be one of the benefactors who would like a little (temporary) anonymity. It'll all come out in the end, I'm sure.

My sons class is doing secret santa this year and they've all filled in a little card which says what they like and don't like. I thought it was a good idea. I've come to the conclusion that there might be a lot of chocolate and not too many veges being given out as presents.

oh I'd piss myself laughing if that happened. ;) It's not mean at all, and I think the quality of the gift will depend on who pulled his name out of the hat. Aden got a girl who he doesn't like too much because she gets him in trouble all the time (hope she doesn't end up at the same high school), so I have to get the gift for her. I'm sure most other mothers will have to suffer the same fate though.

Don't feel too pressured, the price limit obviously precludes anything "nice." This site is good for humorous little items, or if you know anything at all about the interests of your person, just start doing random ebay searches--you'd be surprised what kind of neat stuff pops up.
