lookout123 • Dec 13, 2007 2:49 pm
i don't know which it is. but cats move so damn fast it is amazing. they'll just circle the scorpion and before you even realize the cat is moving it has slapped the scorpion a couple feet across teh ground. they just keep doing until the little bugger is dead.

Googled "scorpion or crayfish" and there are numerous hits about people trying to discern the two.

How are you so sure, classicman?

Crawdads (crayfish) have a fan shaped tail, like the one in the picture, whereas scorpions have their famous stinger.

Shawnee123;416551 wrote:

Crawfish have a tail section built for swimming, much like a lobster, since they live primarily in the water. Scorpions, however, are built for movement on land since that is where they reside. Their tail section curves upward and has a barb on the end which is their primary weapon. Links with pics available below.

Crayfish
Scorpion
lookout123 • Dec 14, 2007 12:01 pm
not all scorpion tails curve up. some curve to the side. whether that side is right or left is an issue for their tailor.

jester • Dec 14, 2007 2:43 pm
Since it's not being totally dropped - I, unfortunately have "several" crawdad holes in my back yard. After a good rain, those little suckers dig up more mud - it's a crawdad
Clodfobble • Dec 14, 2007 3:06 pm
In college, it was part of the common backyard-crawdad-boil party ritual that you entertain yourselves with crawdad races before actually cooking them. If a particular gladiator was very successful, he might even be spared from being dinner.

It's folded under it's body. But the head is another indicator that it's a crayfish.

crawfish vs cat

i might have posted this before? no big payoff, but it's interesting to see how they interact.

cat: what the? it's not *much* food but it definitely is food. Not really enough food to bother with if I'm gonna get pinched, though...

crawdad: I'm HUGE!! Fuck you, I'M HUGE!!!

Sundae • Dec 14, 2007 5:03 pm
Oh that's another point in my favour re carbon selling. Our rivers are being over-run with American Crayfish, they are wiping out the British Crayfish by being harder and meaner and tougher and bigger. I will endeavour to eat as many crayfish as possible :)

My boys woulda had that crayfish walloped in a minute. That cat is just curious, not hunting.

1) That cat has a stooopid face and doesn't know what's happening anyway
2) All-white animals have a greater chance of being profoundly deaf than others, therefore it can't hear the other cats laughing

South Koreans Clone Cats that Glow in the Dark

South Korean scientists have cloned cats by manipulating a fluorescent protein gene, a procedure which could help develop treatments for human genetic diseases, officials said Wednesday. In a side-effect, the cloned cats glow in the dark when exposed to ultraviolet beams.

Yes, I'm petty like that.

See my latest thread in Nothingland.

But the thread title says funny kitty pix. you rarely conform with that, so why expect anyone else to? Besides, you didn't specify non-moving pics. :D

you're welcome.

Look at the entire thread again. How many videos have I posted? ONE. Besides, for the most part, everyone has stayed on topic.

xoxoxoBruce • Feb 10, 2008 10:14 pm
Aussie Brushtail Possum, ours don't have hairy tails.
classicman • Feb 10, 2008 10:15 pm
Ali, call and tell him that he has a wild animal in his house.
Aliantha • Feb 10, 2008 10:16 pm
There are lots of different types of possums over here, but they all have hair on their tails although some are shorter than others.

I think ours are a bit cuter than the ones you get over your way although they're still not too friendly if they're wild - contrary to popular misconceptions...usually those of Japanese tourists.
Aliantha • Feb 10, 2008 10:18 pm
Actually Classic, I think it's a joke to be honest. That's a 1900 number down the bottom. Probably goes to some porn line or something. Surely no one's stupid enough to mistake a possum for a cat?...
classicman • Feb 10, 2008 10:22 pm
wasn't sure bout the number bein 700 or 900 - specially with the 2nd set clearly being 911 (that was odd too) anyway, and not being familiar with Aussie #'s at all...
xoxoxoBruce • Feb 10, 2008 10:47 pm
Our possums are butt ugly.
Aliantha • Feb 10, 2008 10:54 pm
This page has a heap of different types of possums found in Australia for anyone who's interested.
beauregaardhooligan • Feb 11, 2008 11:51 am
They're called shitty kitties where I come from and yes, some people eat them. I think you have to remove certain glands and boil them about 6 times.

I just read on an Aussie site:
It's not a bad trick, except 1900 911 481 is just the talking clock. Now, if you set up your own 1900 number and collected the revenue... that would be a good scam. I think you can get 77c a minute.
Aliantha • Feb 24, 2008 6:48 pm
Oh well...close but no cigar.
xoxoxoBruce • Feb 24, 2008 7:31 pm
You were right about it being a prank, just missed on who they were directing the calls to, which is unimportant.

Hehe, possums worldwide are cute...mean, but cute. This guy was probably sick, wandering around in the afternoon next to my high school a few years ago.

(Scuse my ADD moment here...oooh shiny!)
Aliantha • Feb 25, 2008 4:58 am
Well I don't want to turn this into a cutesy competition, but I have to say, even the ugliest of our possums are better looking than that one Razz. ;)

Straight position is "A" so DD (degree of difficulty) unknown because it's too rare/hard to even get a rating.

here it is in the tuck position -DD = 3.0 (=fucking hard))

At competitions, from the deck, kids look just like that cat when attempting new dives for the first time. And they ask the announcer to repeat as a stalling tactic.

mmmmkay?
lookout123 • Mar 3, 2008 11:35 am
wait - you're saying that the judges tell the kids what to attempt?
monster • Mar 3, 2008 11:47 am
Only from the card it's written on -but the cards are written by the coaches and the kids can be somewhat spacey....

nah shawnee seems like a dog person to me.

I'd probably be the quiet old lady who paints in watercolor plays the violin and owns two ferrets. I think that makes shawnees gregarious nature very normal to me.

If you ever meet a woman as I described in ten years or so that'll be me. Plus or minus the ferrets.
