I'm *staying* married!

BigV • Nov 1, 2007 10:13 pm
I am married.

I have been married for over 16 years. I am looking forward to the next 16 with great antici

PATION!

My wife and I have recently been through some *extremely* difficult events. Our marriage was in dire peril. Things were said, papers were filed, people had moved... It represented the very darkest time in my life. There are threads and posts here that stand in testament to the grief and confusion and pain I experienced. Tips of icebergs hinting at the enormous cold menace below the surface of the impenetrably black freezing waters. And my wife's icebergs, just as heavy and just as dangerous, never even showed up here.

Now I have the great pleasure and good fortune to announce that we have traveled to safer, sunnier, warmer waters! We have steered the marital barque away from the shoals of divorce (and destruction and damnation) out to the open waters of domestic felicity. Well, we're not there yet, but we're headed in that direction. Thank god.

There is good honest work ahead of us, work I'm looking forward to. And some learning, and some rules. One rule for me is no more flirting. Sorry ladies, I'm taken. Very happily so. Besotted would be appropriate. So your pictures have been burned, your letters have been shredded, and that other... thing ... has been put in the giveaway box (just kidding honey! ). Not that I don't appreciate the thought, but no thanks. I have all the woman I can handle, and she has no competition, here or anywhere.

We'll be working on *us* together, and I can't imagine a better pairing. She is beautiful, smart, and strong. She loves our children completely, and defends them fiercely against all comers. She is funny and talented and sexy as hell.

In fact, I have another happy news item, she's gonna start showing up here. Here amongst my friends, plunging courageously into the thick of the very environment that bothers her. She hasn't begun posting yet, but she did agree to let me post a nice picture of her and SonofV in their Halloween finest.

I'm happy! She's happy ("I feel like a newlywed!") SonofV is happy. Please, all my friends, share in our happiness. :jig:
Aliantha • Nov 1, 2007 10:17 pm
That's great news V! And I don't care if you're not flirting. I just think you're a top bloke.

Maybe you should introduce your wife to the cellar? She might enjoy getting to know some of us too.

Good luck with getting the marriage back on track. I really admire you both for taking this step...for yourselves and for your kids. :)
Clodfobble • Nov 1, 2007 10:28 pm
Glad to hear it, V!
lumberjim • Nov 1, 2007 10:40 pm
you only need to have two rules. and you both need to agree.

1. You'll never leave her.

2. You'll never kill her.

that sews it up pretty tight. the rest is just getting along as best you can.

If she demands that you leave us for her....do it. and then log in as a new screen name and never mention it to her again. we can keep a secret.
Aliantha • Nov 1, 2007 10:47 pm
Nice pic. She's really beautiful V. No wonder you're so happy. ;)

What's her handle going to be anyway? We can't keep on calling her...ummm...her can we? lol
BigV • Nov 1, 2007 10:53 pm
I will let her post her handle herself. If she wishes to lurk, fine. She's here. I'm happy. She'll be around.

In the meantime I guess you can't really call her SWMBO, like I do, or My Queen, or any of those other ones.... ... She'll get to it. She's worth waiting for.

:)

Very happy for you and your family. Your wife is very pretty. Son of V is a bit thin (hardee har.)

This is great news, and look how happy your Cellar family is for you!
glatt • Nov 2, 2007 9:15 am
BigV, that's good news. I've also been concerned about you. I'm glad things are heading in the right direction for you two.

Mrs. V, welcome to the Cellar. You've got nothing to be concerned about here. Poke all around, if you haven't already. Look under every rock. You will see that your husband has behaved himself. He's a good guy, and well liked here.
Spexxvet • Nov 2, 2007 9:19 am
Good work V. I could tell from your posts that it was hard work. Now take care of your woman with some *hard* work - nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more...

Or as you will percieve this post:

I am very happy for you, V. May you have a long and fulfilling marriage from here. Thank you for posting a picture of the Mrs. She is a lovely lady!
LabRat • Nov 2, 2007 10:16 am
Very good news. BigV is one of my favorite posters, and I look up to him for his levelheadedness in life matters and his artistry with both film (well, electrons) and language.

As for LurkerV, another redhead, yum!! Can I flirt with her??
Pie • Nov 2, 2007 10:44 am
BigV, I'm glad to hear of your change in direction. Continued good luck to you and your family!
HungLikeJesus • Nov 2, 2007 10:54 am
BigV - your poetry was so dark and fine. I'm not looking forward to all that happy, mushy stuff you'll be writing from now on.

I posted one of him, for him. I don't know why he's such a big wuss about joining. He's always here snooping on what I'm up to. For crying out loud, half the time the stuff we talk about has to do with this place...
Kitsune • Nov 2, 2007 1:00 pm

I never believed there would be a happy outcome to this so soon.
I thought it would be a process of slow healing for both of you - apart.

I'm so pleased for both of you and your children that you've managed to heal the breach and buck the trend of couples splitting up. Good for you that you are committed to working towards this.

And welcome Tink, lovely to hear from you too.
Raised glasses all round!

I like console games mostly. My gamer name stems from the Nintendo universe. I can friend-code our son to play Wi-Fi in Rochester, NY on games like Metroid (LOVE IT!) through the DS or Wii console. Can't wait to get him Guitar Hero III. It'll be great doing Wi-Fi on that with him and his dorm mates.

Are you a PC Game gal?

I know Ultima. PC Gaming is still huge compared to the console games.
You should take a gander at the Wii. It is pretty cool.

And for the record, BigV is one heck of a guy, a great dad, a very caring and concerned husband, and I'm proud to be able to call him a friend.
