Angry at my husband

Aliantha • Oct 25, 2007 8:23 pm
The night before last, I had a dream where my husband had asked me and the kids (including the extras) to meet him at his office after work so we could all go somewhere for dinner. When we got there, he wasn't there and then he called and was drunk and had forgotten about us. (something he'd never do in real life).

I woke up feeling so pissed off with him that I could barely speak. I stayed pissed off with him all day yesterday and just couldn't stop it. It was really weird. Like gremlins had entered my head and made me totally irrational or something.

Anyway, last night there was a bit of a do at his work and he was home a bit late, but not drunk and definitely not really late. We were all still up. The problem was, that because I was still feeling this crankyness, he thought I was pissed off because he was late, but i was too embarrassed to tell him it was nothing to do with that. lol

Poor bugger. I don't know how he puts up with me sometimes.

Anyway, have you ever had a dream that's affected you like that?
kerosene • Oct 25, 2007 8:26 pm
Yeah, but mine are usually sexual dreams about men I don't have that sort of relationship with in real life. It usually makes me nervous around them for a few days.

Yes, and I can't wake up.
lumberjim • Oct 25, 2007 9:46 pm
dreams can totally make you see someone in a new light. it makes you wonder just what the hell your subconscious is trying to tell you about them. makes you second guess yourself.

for instance:

(here's a good example of a time where I was going to make fun of one specific dwellar in a really twisty and unexpected way....by telling you about a dream i had about them that made me realize something about them.....but, because of certain people's (possibly the subject of the aforementioned dream) reaction to that kind of thing, and the row that would certainly ensue.....I am refraining from said activity.) You realize, that now that I've said this much about it, i cannot post the dream (which would have been obviously made up anyway) because you would be expecting it....and it wouldn't be at all entertaining.

Now. which way is better? should I have ripped on the person, and gone for the laugh....or just ....not?
DanaC • Oct 25, 2007 9:49 pm
part of me wants to say that depends on how funny it would have been and part of me wants to shout STOP! my better instincts are leaning towards the latter :P
Aliantha • Oct 25, 2007 10:09 pm
Well there's a big part of me that wants to know all about it now.

Send me a PM Jimbo. ;) I know you want to

but it was so real. lol

I once had horribly realistic dreams about biting the dust in my clarinet lessons. (Two consecutive dreams on one night on one topic--the only time that's ever happened to me.)

My ex had a dream once that I was cheating on him. He ripped into me the next day as though I was really doing what he had dreamed. I was totally shocked. And furious that he was so mad about something that was totally in his head (and had nothing to do with reality).
Aliantha • Oct 26, 2007 12:56 am
yes well, I did say I was being irrational.
Razzmatazz13 • Oct 26, 2007 1:01 am
I've had dreams that effect me like that... even worse sometimes I'll reference something I've said in conversation to someone...only to realize that I said it in a dream.

I have a friend who's struggling right now in an unhappy relationship...and she recently had a dream of the *perfect* guy, apparently...now she's feeling a bit of a depression that she can't shake because she longs for the dream-guy.
bluecuracao • Oct 26, 2007 1:17 am
I had a dream fairly recently that my fiance had fallen in love with someone else, and wanted to leave me. He was very cold, and made me cry--which made me wake up. And ugh, I still felt like crying even then.

But I told him about the dream right away, which helped me to get over it.

My wife had one once. Yeah, she was touchy for a day. I just avoided her till it went away..
Aliantha • Oct 26, 2007 4:28 am
yes, my husband avoided me...although he didn't know he was avoiding me, but it was a good thing he only had to spend about an hour with me the whole day.

And now today he's going to be late again...and I'm sad cause i wanted to make it up to him. :(
Sundae • Oct 26, 2007 4:49 am
I've often had dreams that affected my emotions in real life. I often dreamt that I'd caught my ex out in some way and the feeling of hurt and betrayal lasted into my waking hours. In his case, he had done plenty of things that left me feeling this way in real life, so the dreams just stirred up emotions I'd buried.

I had an irrational dislike of Take That for years after dreaming they came to my house to do a special performance in my living room and were all really nasty to me. I was sneakily glad when they spilt up and sank without a trace (except Robbie of course). I like to think they took that time out in order for me to forgive them - now I have they can be successful again :)

I once had a dream about a man I'd only met twice. We got on so well and clicked so perfectly in my dream that when he invited me over for dinner I packed for an overnight stay. And I did too.
Aliantha • Oct 26, 2007 5:06 am
Ooooh....details??? ;)
Sundae • Oct 26, 2007 5:09 am
Well, as it's your thread I can't be accused of chatting ;)
I went with a bottle of Baileys (too sweet for me now but I loved it then) and a bottle of baby oil and put them down on the table when I arrived and said, "That's the entertainment sorted then!"

He was the best kisser I have ever met. Every man I've kissed since has been held to his standard. Even thinking about it now gives me an all-over body blush.

No more details though, I am a lady dontcha know!
Aliantha • Oct 26, 2007 5:25 am
No I don't know, and if it's true I'm now very disappointed. lol

Sounds like you had a bit of sass when you were younger SG.

Sorry, SG, but was that part of the dream sequence? Or did you actually do that? You legend!

Also, no dislike of Take That could ever be considered irrational.
ZenGum • Oct 26, 2007 5:51 am
Ali, I'd suggest a partial explanation to your hubby ... that you had a bad dream in which you two were angry with each other ... but can't remember the details. Then make it up to him for this affecting your waking mood. (SG's technique, described above, sounds pretty effective for this  )
Aliantha • Oct 26, 2007 5:56 am
Yeah...maybe I should try that. He prefers sherry though, so maybe i should get him tipsy on sherry (while I get smashed on wine) and then have wild reckless sex.
smurfalicious • Oct 26, 2007 7:34 am
I can totally relate - I once had a dream about papa smurf banging some unattractive fat chick that we know in a shower and watching it and being horrified, and when I approached him about it he was unbelievably cruel to me. I woke up sweating and near tears.

I couldn't look at him or hardly speak to him for the rest of the day, it bothered me so much. But I told him why and that I couldn't shake it and he let me be.

years and years ago when i was in the air force i dreamed that i got one of those middle-of-the-night phone calls to tell me that my dad had died. i had already gotten out of bed, pulled myself together, showered dressed, packed my bag, and was calling a cab to the airport when it finally registered that it had been a dream.

yuck.

Nope, that was what happened in real life - the dream just gave me a sense we had already connected.

Had a dream once where my husband and I went camping, then he disappears for a while, and comes back naked, hand in hand with his ex girlfriend(also naked) I was pissed for a whole day lol

Yep, Ali, I've had durned similar dreams too. Took me a good couple of hours /days to get over it. It's almost like my mind decides it is a "real" memory since the feelings in the dream are so strong.
:2cents:

Thanks everyone for letting me forgive myself for being a fucking bitch to my husband for really no reason. :) I'm glad to know that other people carry the emotions from their dreams around with them for a while. I was kinda freaked out that I was feeling that way for such a period of time.

I had this in real life.

My partner and I had arranged a 'date' together. This is a big thing, because with the children we don't get time out. I'd arranged sitters and so-on, and had plans to take her out on the town.
However she decided to go along to after-work drinks. So I rolled up in the car outside her work, after dropping off the kids, not knowing that she'd already left for drinks and waited.
...and waited.
...and waited.
Then I started calling her cellphone to see where she was.
It rang through to voicemail.
And again.
And again.
I got a little frantic; she hadn't come out of her work (that I couldn't get into to find her), and she wasn't answering her phone. Anything could have happened. I was on the verge of calling the police.
And then I saw someone I knew from her work. 90 minutes after she was supposed to have finished work. I ran up and asked them. "Oh, she's at the bar down the road."
I race down there. And 'lo, there she is. Chatting on her phone to a friend. Having not heard all of my calls through to her cellphone, she heard it ring when the friend called through.
So I was fuming and knew that it'd be all bad if I grabbed her then. So I took a look, made sure she was okay, and took off to grab the kids from the babysitters.
Then I came back, picked her drunk ass up and took her home.

I'm still, really, really, bitterly annoyed about it.
lumberjim • Oct 29, 2007 5:39 pm
well, just so you're not pissed off in your sleep at her....

You were in my dream the other night. You & Jinx had had a third child and called her Margaret Julia. I hated the name (I dislike it in real life) and was torn as to how I responded to your news.

Anything Jinx would like to tell us?
lumberjim • Oct 29, 2007 5:53 pm

My wife told me that she had a dream before and she was pissed off at me all day long. Maybe that is why I come home sometimes and she is in just a rotten mood - bitching, pissing, moaning, whining, complaining, grouchy, moody, beligerent and just plain "unloving."

I mean... to know me is to love me! pure bullshit here....

She has always told me when she had one of "those" dreams. I can't help but to laugh.
rkzenrage • Nov 6, 2007 2:11 pm
I have a bad habit if she won't tell me, specifically, why she is pissed to leave me alone until she is ready to talk or is over it.
Then I lock myself in my study.

Ha Haa!
My husband said: I had a dream that you were behind me with a pick axe. (trying to accuse me of something he did to his self in his sleep) With company over I might add...Like I'm creepy or something.

I said: You shouldn't have been cheating on me in that dream then. (getting to the bottom of it in 1 second flat)

He said: nothing. (understanding that I will catch him awake and asleep in no time)
:)
I have the opposite problem here.....
Brett's Honey • Nov 30, 2007 11:55 pm
My ex-husband once woke up in the middle of the night, sat straight up in bed very quickly, which woke me up, glared hatefully at me and then threw his pillow really hard right smack into my face, got out of bed and stomped out of the room. He came back in about ten minutes later, looking confused, mumbled something about a dream he had, kind of shook his head, laid down and went back to sleep.
It seems like iot took him a while to get back to sleep and the next day he was kind of distant and quiet. It certainly affected him and I know that surprised him too.

I sometimes have randy dreams and wake up with "the gift to womankind" (as Ian Dury might say) and expect my wife to be up to speed. She seldom obliges me but I don't hold it against her ..... so to speak. :)
