What is the nature of your water crisis Ali?
Are you retaining fluid?
If so, give Warnie a buzz and ask if he can hook you up with his mum.
(I'm just posting this to baffle the seppos  ).

Warnie sent me a text the other day offering his services, but I declined. :alien:

Are you sure it was intended for you?

Gawd that bloke is an idiot. Bloody good bowler, but apart from that, he's an idiot.

I totally agree Zen. The problem is, his wife seems to be pretty thick too. They actually make a perfect couple intellectually.
ZenGum • Oct 21, 2007 12:31 pm
I don't get much Australian TV up here, so this summer could you check for me ... next time the camera shows the cricket team's wives and girlfriends, can you check to see if there are any who aren't blond? I recall a row of maybe a dozen blond, blue-eyed, slim, possibly cloned ladies.
I reckon the trophy cabinet has more wives than silverware.
Aliantha • Oct 21, 2007 6:05 pm
I think you're right Zen. But it's also true that you have to be blonde and blue eyed to bowl for Australia.

They're like Ken and Barbie, and almost as smart (it would seem).

Often, but don't forget McGrath's short brown and Gillespie's black mullet perm.
Aliantha • Oct 22, 2007 1:58 am
Well Dizzy has always been on his own wave length. McGrath (oo-ah) was almost blonde by the time he finished.

I think McGrath was actually going silvery-gray.
Wasn't his nickname originally "hoo-hah"? I think he picked it up in the carribean, when he took over as opening bowler when McDermott came home injured...
Hoo! Hah! Glen McGrath!
HooHahGlenMcGrath!

Well we never yelled out hoo hah. It was always ooh ah.

How long have you been in Japan for? lol

Maybe not, but the 'Gabba is also the only ground where they play "chase the sheila" during the tea break.
I doubt there can be a definitive version of the chant.

About a year and a half. You reckon I'm losing my Aussieness? Strewth, you'd be a dead set drongo with a few 'roos loose in ya top paddock to reckon that. Lets cruise down the footy club and get outside a six-pack or two 'til we're totally rat-arsed, then go for a hoon in my commodore, chuck a few doughnuts, do a few burnouts ... that'll show I'm fair dinkum. She'll be right! No worries, eh?

That sounds quite like a Bolton phrase "It'll be reet, job's a goodun"
Aliantha • Oct 23, 2007 7:29 pm
Too right Zenza! You little rippa, that'll be bloody bonza mate!

I can just see the fringe of corks on strings waving now...

Meanwhile, you can get a flavor of Australianisms in gentle doses from the kindly Doc Rat.
ZenGum • Oct 24, 2007 1:53 pm
Oddly, my corks are floating above the brim of my hat.

Advanced vocabulary may be learned here.

Deeper understanding of the "culture" can be found here.

"...No good, mate, me feet are still caught in the bloody stirrups!"
