Rekindling
How do you get back "into" a forum. I can't seem to be constant in any of the forums I post on (better yet REGISTER for). I don't want to say it's lack of dedication or time...but I think it is. And sometimes this stuff, the content, just becomes boring. Is there a way to rekindle the forum fire or is it time I moved on?
Just chill for a bit. moving on may well be your problem. For all it's immediacy and impersonality, the bb-side of the internet is at it's best (and worst) when you find a group who've been together a while and have moved below the surface. But such groups take time to penetrate, evaluate and infiltrate.
ooh, I said penetrate... teehee
some thoughts:
introduce a controversy
play the devil's advocate
make an ass of yourself
attempt to redeem yourself
reveal your deepest thoughts
post via stream-of-conciousness
...
You're right, though, it's time and dedication, just like any relationship. Don't join more forums than you have time to participate in. I assume you meant you join multiple forums. If you meant you lose interest one at a time, then... maybe you just don't like internet forums.

go to Audiogalaxy they want people like you

Dickheads like you don't help my situation.
Kidding aside, I suppose you'd post once. Then post twice. That's pretty much how I do it.
Every time you post, you send a gift to yourself in your own future.
And an angel gets its wings.

That's a shot at me, not you. I'm from
Audiogalaxy.
oh, no, it was a shot at him, too. poor guy is having a 'situation'. oh my.
what ever shall we do to help him. hmm......maybe i'll piss him off real bad so he has something interesting to read.
hey, boogerduzie! your sister has a nice tight a-hole! tighter than your mom's anyway.

My sister was lost at WTC during 9/11.
Thanks, a lot.
Some people just never learn.
My sister was lost at WTC during 9/11.
Thanks, a lot.
I was wondering why she stopped calling. so....how's mom?
Dude, LJ... i don't think I've said this before, to you, and I probably won't again, but this time you may just have gone too far, man. Not cool.

because a person dying at the WTC on 9/11 makes them a saint? as though they knew it was coming and chose to sacrifice their life for the good of humanity? If he had lied about his sister being a firefighter that died there....eh? maybe.... but.
IF this was true.....which i seriously doubt.....why would it matter? exactly?
LJ i don't know if his story is true or not. either way i'll sleep fine tonight, but here's my perspective.
it is obvious you adore your kids, i know this because i've seen how you've posted about them for a few years. but imagine for one minute that tragedy visited you and you lost one of them. later on some cellarite, not knowing about your tragedy, made a crack about your kid. it wouldn't change your life or send you spinning off into depression, but you'd probably feel a twinge of pain. if you decided to point out what happened to your kid and the same person decided to take another jab you'd probably be a little pissed.
i'm just saying that, true or not, maybe this is a line too far.
if this was true.....and it was you......
would you really cheapen your sister's memory by using her tragic death as a trump card in the first round of an internet spat?
should i respect someone that would?
I doubt he was being manipulative like that. The dude is obviously very sensitive about losing his sister, so much so that the mention of her in a derogatory way touches him off emotionally. What's wrong with that again? Just leave it be LJ.
would i? no. would some 18 year old? maybe. either way, i'm not here to judge you, if you are comfortable saying it, say it. you're a big boy. i was just putting that out there as a "what if?"
I actually said something like that in person years and years ago only to find out that the dude's mom had died less than a week before. I felt like complete shit. So for me personally, i don't hit that territory unless it is someone i know really really well and know the status of the family members that i'm about to include in my trashing.
No LJ, were sorry because we are all so jaded to you being a constant dickhead that we don't realize that not everyone else is too.
It appears a public apology would be cool; at the very least for one's own sake, if not that of anyone else. Doesn't sound like buttoning up and being defensive is called for, either.
'sok, UG.... I don't need any apologies. i'm used to this kind of treatment.
;)

bwahahaha!
tink! piiiiing!!!!!! tck pooinnnng! ping!!! :sound of particles of reality bouncing harmlessly off of lj's inpenetrable armor of comedy denial:
That last one was
*particularly* masterful. Not just deflected, but caught, and slingshotted back in the spitting face of reason.
Am I a spittin' image? :tobacco-chewing smiley:

Of course, LJ called out a photoshop of his kid as a line too far last week.
you don't understand the distinction, Monkey?
The photoshop was apologized for and deleted, as I recall.
you don't understand the distinction, Monkey?
you did one, and not the other?
I know a guy on another forum that has a retarded (or whatever the word is) kid.
He constantly hears people saying things are "retarded" on the internet, and he deals with it. Same with things being gay. Same with mama jokes.
The photoshop was apologized for and deleted, as I recall.
well, that's a difference, surely. but not the distinction.
you did one, and not the other?
go fuck yourself, outsider.
The photoshop was apologized for and deleted, as I recall.
You recall incorrectly, as it happens. Deleted, yes.
I mainly see similarities; that was the primary distinction.
1) person A makes off-color joke
2) subject protests that it was over the line
3) person A doesn't take it seriously
4) subject insists that they are serious
5) a) Person A deletes the post
or
5) b) Person A makes fun of subject for being a whiner
I don't think that either case actually was over the line, but as they were dealing with other people's families, I can see that the other people have different lines. And while, if I had been person A in either case, I may not have apologized and/or deleted the initial post, I wouldn't have followed it up with more.

Right. I went back and looked it up in the meantime. My apologies for that.

outside?
well, yeah, i guess...that's where they're buried.

yes, these are similarities. to a point. and i hope that it isnt all you see here. the distinction?
well, first let me say that if the joke is on me i can take it. i've put a pic of myself up here in a mr incredible costume that you could dedicate a whole thread to. the pic monster put up was of my son holding his fingers in an inch apart position and it said 'my dad's weenie is this big'. that's funny...and it actually occured to me that someone could do that.....i just didnt think anyone would. see, the joke is more on him than it is on me, since it's his picture....and if it happened because i put his pic up here....?
he's 9. and, well, that's a bit different than someone saying 'yer mamma' and not falling for the drama, don't you think? I mean....those pics circulate. It could have come around some time years from now or something. the sexual aspect of it was what I thought bothered me at first. but I realized later that it was more of a protective father thing.
I started to tell monster that on gabbly one night, but decided to just let it drop. And I never asked her for an apology, did I? any way...
if I honestly felt like jeb was telling the truth about half of that, I'd man up and apologize. I trust my gut, though. The people that are breaking my balls here are those that have resentment toward me for things I've said to them. I get that. It's only natural. You, however? I'm a little troubled that you look to take this angle. I've always respected your intellect and honest demeanor. Does your gut tell you that I'm a bad guy? Do you see malice in my heart?

lj - from an outsider's perspective, I don't see HM's post as an attack or even taking sides, just a logical analysis of the two situations. Maybe I need to re-read the posts.

oh, I don't think it's an attack. I just wonder at the perspective.
I know HM to be a very subtle and thoughtful sort. when I asked if he saw no distinction between me saying things to a troll and someone doing what they did to a picture of my kid, it seemed like he was intentionally being obtuse about it. my perception. so, it makes me wonder why. if you dislike someone, you are more likely to see the negatives in them, right? I dont think this is the first time this has come up... I guess HM is not a fan of my schtick. meh?

I don't think you're a bad guy, but I'm not a fan of your occasional crusades against random posters. If Jeboduuza is trolling, you're feeding him; if not, you're being hurtful.
Do you see malice in my heart?
I don't.
I'll risk another analogy.
lj is like a big enthusiastic dog. I love dogs, I am most definitely a dog person. I see a lot of stuff like this as a big dog that romps around, very active, happy, hyper. A smart dog, and one that is very social. Likes to be around people, close to people.
Unfortunately, there are situations, there are some people who don't like dogs. Or who like dogs, but don't want to rassle or play tug of war or get their hands slobbery. Whatever, draw your own picture here. You know someone like this.
My point is that by itself, the behavior, it matches the personality perfectly. It is how that dog is. But that behavior is not always appropriate. We have dogs, big dogs. But we don't play fetch in the house. Our dogs understand this. Rowdy is not the only thing they know. They know quiet. They know guard. They know empathy. I know lj understands this, and for sure, lj knows all these and more, duh. But sometimes, there's a mismatch of situation and behavior.
*****FOR ME**** This was one of those times. If the dog grabs your sleeve you'll want to pull back "give me my sleeve back" The dog's thinking "Yeah! I LURVE tug of war". bzzzzt. The very action of the poster (she's dead you jerk/pulling the sleeve back) is read by lj (ha ha funny I got yer joke hangin!/yeah! tug tug tug). A mismatch. In this case, the sleeve was torn off at the shoulder and the guest has left in anger. That is unfortunate, but, after all, this was the dog's house before it was the guest's house. But it
could and should become the guest's house too. There can be some way for each guest to learn to live with the other dwellars. Indeed each of us needs to find our own way there. It's just easier when we help each other.
For the record, I think lumberjim is one of the good guys. I know it in my heart.
i think it was the white hat that gave it away. or the cock puppets.
dude totally just called me a dog.
seattle is a long way to drive just to pee on your hydrant, too.
why does it look like the dog people are in a swimming pool?
dog people inside, cat people outside. You don't like my skilz?
What if you are one of
these?
I am fairly certain that I deserved that. :D
i am fairly certain it should be served on a bun.
Can we add processed cheese food and limp pickles?
i try to avoid any and all contact with limp pickles.
why does it look like the dog people are in a swimming pool?
'cause they need drowning
Actually, it's a pool of crocodile tears for all the dogs who perished at the WTC on 9/11
ok, that's seriously not funny. we adopted a rescue dog from there and we just had to put him down. i can't believe you would stoop so low.
we just had to put him down.
Why were you holding him for so long? How did you wipe your arse? On the dog?

Did you have sex with his sister, first?
i tried but she was so upset... i couldn't get her to quit howling and drooling.
Good times.
Did we ever find out if his sister's spectacular asshole actually died on that day? I miss it so....
My sister was lost at WTC during 9/11.
Thanks, a lot.
Oh Em Gee it's the original 9/11 guy.
Someone should create a 'master thread' with links to the Cellar classics.
Is that where "I lost my _____ on 9/11, you insensitive bastards!" came from?
Oh Em Gee it's the original 9/11 guy.

I did that. I found that thread when I searched for this one. I forget what that thread was called.
We need to make a thread to tell us where threads are that tell us where cool threads are.
Or a hall of fame forum that only mods can move threads to.
85% of all problems are directly traceable to people who like their dogs in one of these:

while doing their sister.
Borat has arrived.
tw you are a special kind of stupid. Muslims don't eat dogs.
Muslims don't eat dogs.
Tell that to Borat and the people of Kazakhstan.
Stupid is as stupid does. Remember when you told us that is what your mother always told you?
Just to be clear. That's the real tw posting humor. Not 'tw.' And it was funny a little bit. As if he does read, despite his user title.
