toward pointless fun threads. He's apparently very upset by them.

I don't like littering either, Jimbo. Although I think the pointless threads thing is a lot more like taking a piss in the punchbowl.

The thing is...and I know this might be controversial...but I quite like the silly threads. I think this world could do with more silliness and a little less absurdity.
I do click on these threads to see if anyone's posted funny, or sharp responses. I like that there is a (in fact more than one) meta joke running through the Cellar across a length of time. I find that really funny. I like 'running jokes'. Now okay, some of them fall flat, some don't quite pull it off, but some are very funny.
If you see a thread with a bunch of alliteration and the name of a dwellar you pretty much know what kind of thread it is. I tend to ignore them when I first check in in the morning (that's how I start my day btw when I am not at uni:P ...coffee and Cellar for about an hour) I go for stuff I was following that has moved on overnight, but I do eventualy get around to it: usually when there's been a pattern of them emerging on the new posts list.
Kind of spoils the joke a little when everytime you click on one you just see the same word 'Weed'. It was funny the first couple of times I followed a link, but now I just don't want to click on the silly threads because I already know what's there. Thereby rendering them dull.

Your serious question deserves a serious answer. One dandelion is pretty. A yard full of them is a sign of neglect. One subject elevated this way (a collection of whole threads about a single subject, ala Sandra Day O'Connor) is/was funny. The droning, mechanical, UNcreative, relentless repetition of them is not funny.
You're right. I did like that one, back in the day. It was spontaneous, new and creative. I believe lumberjim deserves much of the credit for lighting the fuse on that particular fireworks display. What is happening now isn't dramatic fireworks. It's the 3rd (or 10th or 50th) consecutive hour of a string of firecrackers. Pop pop pop pop pop. The novelty has worn off. Sadly, novelty was pretty much the only thing the vast majority of these threads had going for them in the first place. They're thin to begin with and are now worn out.
For those of you who care about or are bothered by my complaining, I ask you: If they're just nothing fun threads to begin with, where is the loss? I can't stop you from posting them; I've no intention of impinging on your cellar-rights to free expression. And I'll continue to share that right and bear that responsibility. You say they're just bs and laugh. I just say they're bs. What's the difference?
I've commented on
this very subject before. In that thread I present two ideas, both of which I complain about: excessive hatin' and clone threads. That day, the hatin' was more of a problem for me. Today, it's the clone threads.

You know what though, at least they're in the forum called NOTHINGLAND (mostly). 'Tis easy to stear clear if it really bothers you, the name says it all. People who don't like politics avoid that forum rather than posting "boring" in every thread -how is this so very different behaviour-wise?

I don't mind stupid pointless threads. I do mind when some days they seem to be the majority of what I see in new posts. Personally, I don't get it. Clone threads were funny for a minute. Goofy threads are fun, but how many can really justify their very own thread? I just try to ignore them and sift through to find the interesting (to me) stuff.
But hey, someone must be enjoying them, right?

I used to sometimes post on a board where every member had their own 'kissy' thread where people could go and post mushy bullshit online crap to their cyber friends. I found the whole concept vomitious and avoided that forum like the plague (pardon the pun). It worked though because there was nowhere near the level of crap floating around the other forums because the people who wanted to play in those sorts of threads did so.
This week on the cellar, they're in several different forums and I think it's simply annoying to sift through the shit to find the stuff worth reading.
