Spring Break - London Theatre Trip!

Come late march-early april, I'll be in London for a little over a week, on a trip with my Theatre class.
It's gonna be fuuuu-uuuun..!

Take a lot of pictures and tell us all about it man, I know you teh camerah skillzz.

Okay, so, I get to pick eight locations (within the parameters of sights, museums, food, and shopping) that I wanna go to while I'm there. I dont necessarily get to go to all of them but there will be a lot of freeish time while we're in london. So far I've got Heddon Street (where the Ziggy Stardust cover was shot), Langtry's restaurant (where oscar wilde was arrested), the first Hard Rock Cafe, Rough Trade, and... thats about it.
Where else can you people think of thats nice and rock&roll, and cool, and i could get away with going on a school trip?

It's probably mandatory anyway, but you are going to the Globe?

It looks like they have commercialized the London Dungeon since I went. Might still be fun though.

Don't forget to put Abbey Road studios on your list. I'll try and dig out a few more intersting venues - I'm sure my sons will know some places to try to include.

It might be an idea to get in touch with one ogf the TV companies here and get tickets for one of their programmes - don't think there's too much these days - try something like Jools Holland's Later.

Might also be worth trying to arrange a visit to a recording studio like this one

I've already been to Abbey Road, once, but I didn't go it. Is it worth going in?

When I saw the Oscar Wilde Walk and the Beatles Walk I thought of you.

I've been on some London Walks myself, one with my parents who grew up in London. They are pitched at a high enough level of intelligence to be really interesting and the guides are professionals who really know their stuff and can answer questions around the subject as well as random topics that crop up. I've found this company to be the very best.

I intend to go on a walk this Sunday - I can't go to the gym until 13.00 so it will give a meaning to my usually lazy morning. I'll take my camera and report back.

BTW if you want to meet up I'd be happy to do a walking tour with you - it would mean even if we loathed eachother on sight (unlikely on my part, I generally only dislike stupid people) then we'd have something else to focus on!

Those walks are totally awesome. I did the Jack the Ripper walk and want to do the Harry Potter walk and the Beatles walk sometime.

When I'm in London, I like to go to the Victoria & Albert Museum and Pizza Express (I don't know why) and of course, just walk around and find interesting things - such as counting all of the Pret A Mangers and Starbucks :).

I tend to be one of those people that scoffs at touristy things, but the Tower of London can't be missed, it's really cool.

For my next trip across the pond (whenever that happens), Kew Gardens is on my list. I haven't been there yet. I also want to go to the National Gallery (I've thrown up in front of it, but never been in it.)

Again, check my location if another trip is in the offing. If I am in London (likely) or anywhere else in the SouthEast (extremely likely) then I'd love to meet for a coffee. And a walking tour!

I did Spitalfields on Sunday - loved it. And then managed to miss the start of two different tours on Tuesday and Wednesday because I didn't factor in the speed my 61 year old friend with mobility issues can move. Which worked out for the best because she preferred me as a guide in the end anyway - I did read up on where we were going and everything was at her pace. I can do the tours whenever I want after all.

Since you live in Greenwich, Sundae Girl, is there any reason you have not mentioned the Observatory?

After all, why would it not be interesting for a visitor from overseas to stand in both the East and the West at the same time?

Or can't that be done anymore?

Oh it is interesting and you can still stand astride the meridian. And from my local pub you can see the green light arcing above, showing the line in the sky. I love it.

But Ibram is a 16/17 year old and will be on a school trip, he has limited time alone.
I was trying to appeal to his stated personal tastes, which was why I only posted specific information rather than a paeon to the wonderful history and sights London has to offer.

You are right about Greenwich being worth a visit though and I always tell people I'd be willing to meet for a coffee or a drink!
