July 30, 2007: High-heel sprint

It's Neatorama Collaboration Monday!

Not sure who the winner is at this heeled sprint held in St. Petersburg. According to China Daily there was a "required minimum height of 9 centimetres (3.5 inches)" which would be pretty daunting, but for a prize of "a shopping voucher worth 50,000 roubles (about $2,000)" which would be motivating. Let's see, risk a life-long ankle injury in which I hobble for life, for some quick gear.

And of course for some people this would be porn.

Be sure to visit our friends at Neatorama for more neato items all the time!

With so many taking to their heels the leader must have gotten a heel up on her competitors, and after outracing those who were on her heels she deserved to sit down and kick up her heels.
xoxoxoBruce • Jul 30, 2007 12:20 pm
From heel to heal.
jester • Jul 30, 2007 12:38 pm
I don't think I could run in those, at all. Besides, I'm not one to wear heels like that. I'm rather tall (almost 6'). Maybe in certain situations(would I wear them), but not often.

Wah? jester's rather tall in certain situations, but not often? Oh, must be the high heels! :D

Ain't I a stinker?

 Yeah, that's the idea - make it a kind of bride of Frankenstein thing. Sorta. Ouch.

Amazing. Nearly a whole page of posts and no one is talking about eating the IOTD.
Flint • Jul 30, 2007 2:22 pm
WTF is on this menu?

The steak I had the other night was as tough as leather, but...........

Now, I don't want to be a heel, but the article didn't seem to state if there were truly a sole winner.

:vomit:
i saw that too - but i thought, if it was a guy, he/she looked good.
DanaC • Jul 30, 2007 6:19 pm
Jester, they aren't so much giant heels, as giant toes......I think that'd get you disqualified.....y'have to have rules for this sort of thing....strict rules.....all hell could break loose, people'd be turning up on stilts....walking away with a tidy little shopping trip tucked under one arm whilst their opponents are still hobbling out the first aid tent....just thinkin it through..
jester • Jul 30, 2007 6:46 pm
ok, how 'bout this?

jester, that gets a double ouch, unless she's wearing a tutu.
jester • Jul 30, 2007 6:51 pm
I like the straps though
lumberjim • Jul 30, 2007 6:54 pm
dude.

video would have been a better choice.
milkfish • Jul 30, 2007 6:55 pm
Are they allowed to have wheels and jetpacks on the bottom? Of the shoes, I mean.
DanaC • Jul 30, 2007 7:00 pm
Uisge...i suspect she's more likely to be wearing a zippable mask.

I suppose that mask goes with LJ's request for video, too.

I think it's high time women started running in high heels. Men have been doing it for years. You've all herd of "drag racing" haven't you?

I'd eat some of them out, if you know what I mean.
BrianR • Jul 30, 2007 11:42 pm
Running in high heels isn't easy. They tend to break and your ankles aren't generally up to the task of side support.

Plus the height changes the shape of your leg muscles as well as the chest, especially if you are female. Your muscles are not designed to walk much less run in that configuration.
Aliantha • Jul 30, 2007 11:54 pm
You'd be running on your toes. That's the only way high heels stand up to being run in/on. Specially stilletos which most of those would have to be.

I think it's a stupid competition (this is comming from a chick who once won a $100 gift voucher for sculling a bouron and coke faster than the other chicks on stage).
DucksNuts • Jul 31, 2007 12:37 am
I'd kick all those chicks butts I reckon :)

I won a comp like that too Ali....I won $100 gift voucher as I was able to fit the most pollywaffle in my mouth at once :) Strangely, guys liked me heaps that nite.
Aliantha • Jul 31, 2007 12:49 am
lol...pollywaffle. It even sounds funny.
xoxoxoBruce • Jul 31, 2007 5:15 am
What's a polywaffle?
DucksNuts • Jul 31, 2007 6:44 am
Choccie Bar - waffle wafer tube filled with spongey marshmallow and coated in chocolate.
xoxoxoBruce • Jul 31, 2007 7:01 am
Mmmm, sounds good.

I remember being warned not to make fun of the gay people in Key West because supposedly they can run pretty fast in high heels.

I was laughing for the next hour with the image (not that way..) I got from that.
Aliantha • Jul 31, 2007 10:24 pm
Anyone can run fast in high heels if they do it right. It's definitely a sprint event though. Not endurance. Unless of course you're very seasoned and have incredible calf muscles.
