July 24, 2007: Giant rubber duck in France

From the interesting art category: Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman has floated a giant rubber duck on the Loire River in France.

A yellow spot on the horizon slowly approaches the coast. People have gathered and watch in amazement as a giant yellow Rubber Duck approaches. The spectators are greeted by the duck, which slowly nods its head. The Rubber Duck knows no frontiers, it does not discriminate people and doesn't have a political connotation. The friendly, floating Rubber Duck has healing properties: it can relieve worldwide tensions as well as define them. The rubber duck is soft, friendly and suitable for all ages!

My little sister had the original Sesame street album when I was a teen. That song is infectious. If you can keep from singing when Rubber Ducky is playing, "then you are way too grown up and need to cut back on cable news."

I have a thing for rubber ducks. I have a lot of them (odd ones, Shakespeare duck, Buddha duck, etc). When I had my own regular sized bathroom it was done in rubber duckies, everything had rubber duckies on it.
Now my son plays with them.
I also used to put them into art and weird situations. Some are NSFW.
Was working on a Kennedy series when it got old.
