Politics and sex

richlevy • Jul 12, 2007 11:22 pm
There have been a couple of threads about specific incidents, so I am setting this one up as a clearinghouse for political figures caught in sexually embarrassing situations, like this one.

(CNN) -- A day after four of Sen. John McCain's top political strategists stepped down, the co-chairman of his Florida campaign was arrested Wednesday for allegedly offering an undercover police officer money for a sex act, Titusville police said.
Florida state Rep. Bob Allen faces charges of solicitation for prostitution after he was arrested in a Titusville city park that had been under surveillance, police said.
He allegedly offered an undercover police officer $20 for the unspecified act. His attorney, Philip Lupo of Titusville, said the charge was a second-degree misdemeanor.
Allen told CNN affiliate WFTV the incident was "a very big misunderstanding."
"This is a very gross mistake, a very big mistake," he said, adding that this is what the judicial system is for.
Allen said he helped build the park, and was there looking around.
BTW, I was shocked when I heard he offered (her?) $20. I thought that even the sex industry was affected by inflation.

And what is it with Republicans and sex scandals? In the 70's it was sort of bipartisan, but except for Clinton, which was almost 7 years ago, it seems every fetish, arrest, and announcement of orientation has been associated with Republicans.

Are Democrats better at morality, or just better at having inappropriate sex discreetly?

I used to know a sluzza at a nightclub who would give the boys a blowjob for $5.

Her diet was definitely high in protien.

All of this confuses me... half the reason I wanted to get into politics was for the sex.
Happy Libertarian/Democrat I guess?

I was more than 1/2 expecting this incident to have happened at night and was gonna bust on his excuse of "just looking around."

Then l found:
"Police said they arrested Allen, 48, about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Park after he allegedly offered to perform oral sex on an undercover officer and to pay the officer $20 for the
opportunity. He faces one charge of solicitation of prostitution, a second-degree misdemeanor, and was released from Brevard County jail Wednesday night after posting $500 bond."

Opportunity???? WTF????

Former ACLU Chapter President Arrested for Child Pornography

Feb. 23, 2007 ABC News

Federal agents arrested Charles Rust-Tierney, the former president of the Virginia chapter of the ACLU, Friday in Arlington for allegedly possessing child pornography.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by ABC News, Rust-Tierney allegedly used his e-mail address and credit card to subscribe to and access a child pornography website.

The complaint states that federal investigations into child pornography websites revealed that “Charles Rust-Tierney has subscribed to multiple child pornography website over a period of years.”

As recently as last October, the complaint alleges, “Rust-Tierney purchased access to a group of hardcore commercial child pornography websites.”

Since the ACLU thinks that child pornography should be legal, it is not surprising to read that it is against making it a felony to advertise, sell, purchase, barter, exchange, give, or receive child pornography. It is particularly distressed about the prohibition on advertisement, arguing that “the law cannot expect every publisher to decode every advertisment for some hidden and sinister meaning,” as if it took a technician-armed with a special decoding device-to ferret out pictures of children ludely exhibiting their genitals. Quote from Twilight Of Liberty

Complaint Alleges Access to Graphic Material

Rust-Tierney admitted to investigators that he had downloaded videos and images from child pornography websites onto CD-ROMs, according to the complaint.

Dan Riehl at Riehl World View, says: “Hmm. Just doing research, no doubt.”

The videos described in the complaint depict graphic forcible intercourse with prepubescent females. One if the girls is described in court documents as being “seen and heard crying”, another is described as being “bound by rope.”

The investigation is being conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and the Arlington County Police as part of the Northern Virginia and District of Columbia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Rust-Tierney made an initial appearance in a federal court in Alexandria, VA, Friday. He is being detained pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday, February 28.

Youth Coach, Argued Against Restricting Public Internet

Rust Tierney coaches various youth sports teams in and around Arlington, Virginia, according to court documents.

In the past, Rust-Tierney had argued against restricting Internet access in public libraries in Virginia, writing, “Recognizing that individuals will continue to behave responsibly and appropriately while in the library, the default should be maximum, unrestricted access to the valuable resources of the Internet.”

Some will nod sagely, saying that this explains a lot.

Meanwhile, I'd suggest to the ACLU that to be truly a civil rights organization, they should quit neglecting defense of Second Amendment cases. No reason for them to continue ignoring this front of civil liberties just because they've been doing it since about the nineteen-sixties.

I'm a liberal who lives in Arlington, so you might think that I've heard of this guy, but I haven't. Good job though Merc, finding a liberal involved in a sex scandal, even if it is a C or D list liberal who doesn't hold office.

They do it because there's an extremely powerful organization that does Second Amendment cases and lobbying exclusively.
Urbane Guerrilla • Jul 21, 2007 7:58 pm
That is what they'll tell you, yes.

But it's an excuse. They could stop being disingenuous with just a couple of token case efforts annually, even in cooperation with NRA's legal aid -- but you don't see even that much. Second Amendment activists like author Neil Schulman have found active hostility to supporting gun rights within the ACLU, which annoys those who account gun rights as human rights. The American Some-Civil-Liberties Union? Oh, puh-leeze, ACLU boys.
richlevy • Jul 21, 2007 8:05 pm
The ACLU can take up gun rights when the NRA helps defend "Bong hits for Jesus".

Lesbian & Gay Rights

Also, "2nd Amendment" rights might be mixed in with a lot of these issues. You can't say that the ACLU hasn't had to bring the 2nd amendment into any of the cases they argue.

...and so is the ACLU. If the donors who support the ACLU were concerned about the lack of 2nd amendment activism they wouldn't support it.

Fortunately, the individuals who care mostly or only about the 2nd amendment have the NRA, and those who care about protecting all of the other rights have the ACLU.

It's called a free market.

You forgot NAMBLA and the rights of pedofiles...

ACLU defends child-molester group
Asks judge to throw out lawsuit against NAMBLA for 10-year-old's murder

TheMercenary • Jul 23, 2007 9:25 am
And for another example of the great work of the ACLU ~~~~>

NAMBLA states that they are on an important, historic mission. They state that their mission is simple. Abolition of age of consent laws that classify sex with children as rape. NAMBLA is the North American Man/Boy Love Association.

Charles Jaynes, 25, reportedly viewed the group’s web site shortly before the killing of Jeffrey Curley, a 10 year old boy, slain in 1997. Jaynes also had in his possession some of NAMBLA’s publications. Also convicted in the killing was 24 year old Salvatore Sicari. Sicari, convicted of first degree murder, is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole. Jaynes’ second degree murder and kidnapping convictions enable him to seek parole within the next 20 years. Was this a case of misunderstanding? Does this fit with NAMBLA’s philosophy of man/boy love that is non violent? Hardly. Prosecutors said Jaynes and Sicari were sexually obsessed with the boy, lured him from his Cambridge neighborhood with the promise of a new bike, and then smothered him with a gasoline soaked rag when he resisted their sexual advances. They then stuffed him into a concrete filled container and dumped it into a Maine river. Non violent? No. Loving? No.

The ACLU is a supporter of NAMBLA, representing the organization in the civil case related to the aforementioned murder. The ACLU is representing NAMBLA PRO BONO. Their official position: “In representing NAMBLA, the ACLU does not advocate sexual relationships between adults and children. What we do advocate is robust freedom of speech. This lawsuit strikes at the heart of freedom of speech. The defense of freedom of speech is most critical when the message is one most people find repulsive.” I am repulsed. Repulsed by the idea that my children may not be able to say “?one Nation, under God” in school some future day .. thanks to the ACLU .. but this disgusting, vile organization is supported due to freedom of speech?

In February 2005, the FBI arrested three NAMBLA members at Harbor Island as they waited for a boat that undercover agents told them would sail to Ensenada for a sex retreat over Valentine’s Day with boys as young as 9. The FBI also arrested four additional NAMBLA members in a Los Angeles marina where they also planned to set sail to the same bogus retreat. These men are a cross section of people you and I might interact with regularly: a dentist, a special education teacher, a substitute teacher, a handyman, a flight attendant who is also a psychologist, a paper company employee and a personal trainer. How horrific to know that a number of these men had daily interactions with children! As noted in court papers, most of these men told the undercover agent they had been sexually involved with children historically, including boys they met on the Internet and others. Looking more closely at these men, at least one of the men is a member of NAMBLA’s national leadership, a second organized their national convention in 2004 and a third has been a NAMBLA member since the 1980s. Thank God these criminals have been discovered so no more boys are harmed.

So what of Charles Jaynes? The Boston Herald reports that Jaynes is now battling efforts by his victim’s mother to uncover whether NAMBLA is bankrolling Jaynes’ prison canteen. There were court affidavits from two inmates claiming Jaynes engages in sex acts in the prison without discipline, shows off his victim’s autopsy and has a fat canteen account courtesy of NAMBLA. While one of these inmates has now recanted their story, questions are still present about what NAMBLA is doing for Jaynes while he is in prison. I won’t link to NAMBLA’s disgusting site, but they do have a Prisoner Program for those convicted of pedophilia. The program on their website clearly states that they do not financially support prisoners, but provides instruction on what type of information should be sent to these criminals. Here’s what NAMBLA says about those incarcerated for, what they believe, are unfounded criminal acts: “Incarceration is a terrible thing. For a boy lover ground into the criminal justice system, it is an especially harrowing fate.” What about the fate of that 10 year old boy whose lifeless body was stuffed into a container and tossed away into the river?

Aug 19, 2005: ACLU Thinks Pregnant Coke Fiends’ Rights Trump Responsibility

Lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union are appealing the conviction of an Easton woman who was accused of endangering a child by using cocaine while she was pregnant.

Kelly Cruz, 30, was found guilty of a reckless endangerment charge Aug. 5 after waiving her right to a jury trial. She was ordered to serve 2 1/2 years in prison.

Cruz was charged in February, about a month after giving birth to a premature baby boy who tested positive for cocaine.

Defense attorneys had sought an acquittal, arguing there was never a risk of harm to another person — because a fetus doesn’t meet the definition of a person under state law.

Aug 5, 2006: ACLU Applauds No Punishment For Pregnant Women Doing Drugs

The American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland applauded today’s decision by the Maryland Court of Appeals unanimously ruling that the reckless endangerment statute does not apply to women who take drugs while pregnant.

The ACLU of Maryland is heartened that the high court agrees that prosecuting drug-dependent pregnant women is not what the state of Maryland considers good policy, said David Rocah, staff attorney for the ACLU of Maryland. “We believe that using criminal law to regulate a pregnant woman’s conduct on the theory that it might harm a fetus or her newborn child is counterproductive, illegal, and, ultimately bad for children and society.”

If it was not for NAMBLA and the ACLU, Jaynes and Sicari wouldn't have had the hots for that 10 year old kid and killed him? I don't think so.

Make it illegal so that pregnant junkies will not go to the doctors at all. How will this help the fetuses exactly?
