What's your ring tone?

Cloud • Jun 19, 2007 3:56 pm
Mine's "Tubular Bells" from The Exorcist.

'cause Cell Phones Are Evil.!

(insert Devil emoticon here that I could not find)

sorry. I did actually do a search before starting this thread, but I searched for "ring tone" (2 words) and I guess it didn't pull it up.

(mumblemeaniemumble)

:)

We could delete it or merge or something.

Nope, it stands alone - we have new posters and these things change after all!

I make my own ring tones now...fuck paying $2 for them! I currently have "Tarantula" from The Smashing Pumpkins as my main tone.
wolf • Jun 19, 2007 4:46 pm
I change my ringtone fairly often.

I have recently discovered how to use the distinctive ringtone feature, and I've gone a little crazy with it.

General Ringtone: We're Not Gonna Take It (Twisted Sister)
Nuthouse: They're Coming to Take me Away
Mother: Psycho
S.O.: Rome (HBO Series Theme), considering resetting to the Flint presidential hotline phone.
Best Friend: Raiders of the Lost Ark (she loves the movie, even named her Macaw Indiana Jones)
2nd Best Friend: Kinda new-agey thing that came with the phone, need to download something specific to her.
Other Best Friend: It's Raining Men (because at every company party this song would be played and all of the males would dance around her.)
Sycamore: Merry Melodies theme
elSicomoro • Jun 19, 2007 4:51 pm
Yeah!

On my old Moto, Wolf was represented by the 1812 Overture. My Nokia didn't allow me to personalize, but my new Moto does. I'll have to see what I can dig up.
wolf • Jun 19, 2007 5:01 pm
If you would like, I'll send you the link for They're Coming to Take Me Away.

Badger?

My phone is an old Nokia...the choice of tunes wasn't vast. It's set to Nocturne...has been for best part of three years.

So the obvious choice of Badger, Badger, Badger is just way too much?
Kitsune • Jun 19, 2007 6:18 pm
Verizon is working on the ability for their software to push a ringtone from one phone to another. Quite soon, your phone won't ring with what you select, but with what the caller selects.

God, I hope they let me turn that ability off.
rkzenrage • Jun 19, 2007 7:51 pm
You will be able to.

I refer to him (my husband) as that on the cellar. Badger is his account, but rarely logs in. In real life, he's Pete.
And no, a badger badger ringtone would get me shot.

That's what I'm using for Sycamore.

Cingular/AT&T has it. Search for "Looney Tunes".

I wanted the Star Trek communicator sound, but it's not available for my phone.

Have I mentioned I'm a bit of a SF nerd? :)
wolf • Jun 20, 2007 12:35 pm
I want my phone to make the communicator noise when I open it, but it won't do that either.
Undertoad • Jun 20, 2007 12:40 pm
I use the TNG communicator sound as voicemail notification.

I use the TOS "red alert" sound as TXT notification (which is appropriate, since it is my defacto pager for work, and usually represents an actual problem)

That's funny. I use the sonar ping for my blackberry whenever an email comes in (only when out of the holster). Cool sound. I served on subs for 10 years. That's why I am nuts.

I've actually only owned a cell phone for about three weeks now. I picked up a T-Mobile prepaid when it came to my attention that it fit my needs.

At the moment, discarding the horrible built-in ringtones, I have my choice of:
* clip from "Green Onions," Booker T and the MG's
* clip from one of my wife's favorite TV shows' theme as her custom ringtone
* George of the Otto & George ventriloquist act screaming "Let's all take a shit right here."

The phone on my desk is a Western Electric model from the early '1970's it's ivory colored, and works no matter what you can run thing over with a truck and it will still work. The ring is a mechanical bell.
the cordless ring tone is we wish you a merry christmas.
my cell ring tone is island tune, and tom's is some ringie noise.
Keryx's ring tone is Fur Elise.

I have an extra Western Electric. Bidding starts now with a $500.00 reserve.

HA! mine too. Now I just keep it on silent because I really don't want to talk to anyone.
dar512 • Jan 3, 2010 4:21 pm
Main ring tone is the ATT retro bell. Calls from home have the chorus from CSNY Our House. Text messages get a morse code bit. And meetings have a factory sound.

BTW, if your phone has a usb cable available, you can make your own ringtones for free. I've put instructions online for Windows Mobile phones if anyone is interested.
BrianR • Jan 5, 2010 11:04 am
Mine is pretty simple. Wagner's Der Fliegende Hollander (the Flying Dutchman) for all calls except the wife, who gets a guy saying "Answer the phone or I'm kickin' yer ass!"
lumberjim • Jan 5, 2010 5:36 pm

Nuthouse - They're Coming to Take Me Away
general cluster of hen-friends - Xena theme
SO - Star Trek
siswolf - The Entertainer
hen-friend who is a doctor - House theme
hen-friend who is obsessed with a particular movie - Raiders of the Lost Ark theme
general, I don't care enough about you to assign a ringtone - The Prisoner (original) theme

Back in September while momwolf was on the ICU and not doing well, I set the outgoing number for that facility with the ER theme, so I didn't melt down every time the phone rang.

I switch the general one up every couple of months, or to be holiday-theme appropriate.

I realized last night that I need a distinctive ringtone for the rehab. (the night lady called me at 2AM to ask a question about missing paperwork for a patient I had no contact with because she didn't have a phone number for the woman she actually needed to talk to. Go figure. I'm missing on the logic there, but whatever.)

I have two main ideas for what I want to use ...

No brainers, really ...

the really obvious one is the Amy Winehouse song, rehab ... preferably a clip of the chorus where she sings about not wanting to go to rehab.

The other is the guitar intro to Hotel California ... not so much because of the content, although that IS a good match, but the artist has an association to where I am.

I had considered The Doobie Brothers, but no. I just can't.

Does anybody have either of these that they can share with me? PM me if you don't have my email.

I can do the trim myself, if necessary.
