Sunglasses

I was at the new outlet mall in my area and went into the Sunglass Hut. I saw these silver chrome metallic shiny sharp sleek sexy Ray Ban's for $119.99. And when I put them on I felt like Image

I don't have the money for that though, I controlled the impulse buyer inside me. But they were pretty kickass, anyone have designer name sunglasses?
Cloud • Jun 14, 2007 3:44 pm
not since I started wearing Transitions lenses. They rock!
Shawnee123 • Jun 14, 2007 3:44 pm
I don't wear sunglasses. I should, but I don't.
Clodfobble • Jun 14, 2007 4:25 pm
I lose them on a fairly regular basis, so I wear basic $7 ones from Target. But I absolutely must have them! My eyes are very light-sensitive, I can't be outside without them unless the sun has set.
Cloud • Jun 14, 2007 4:34 pm
yeah, back when I wore them, I wore them 100% of the time outside. But you do lose them, and I found (after a Ray-Ban or two of my own) that the expensive ones lose just as fast as the cheap ones, and break, too.

It's one of those things-- money spending/saving tips. IMO, expensive sunglasses are not worth the money, unless you're all Paris Hiltony and care more about the brands and the image than your eyes. Get moderately priced ones with the best eye protection you can.

My prescription glasses are Magic Clip, meaning the sunglass lenses attach to the frame via little magnets.

Shawnee123 • Jun 14, 2007 5:17 pm
Oh my, now I've gone on a tangent checking out posts of this millionaire Richie Rich dude and his plastic hairpiece.

Wish I'd found this place years ago! Good stuff.

I was joshin'. Everytime I hear the blu-ray thing all I can think of is Blue Man Group. Then the pic of rich: blue lenses, ray-ban glasses...hence blue-rays.

When I play the dumb card in real life you wouldn't detect that I'm kidding either (I play it so well) until I laugh. :p
Spexxvet • Jun 14, 2007 5:18 pm
I have Rx Adidas, a pair of polarized no-names, 2 pairs with magnetic clip-ons, and a couple of Transitions.

Those Ray Bans are pretty light - they won't protect you very well. They might be a woman's style, too.

I think they're talking about Blue Blockers. Isn't Blue Ray a DVD-type disk-thingie?
Cloud • Jun 14, 2007 5:25 pm
oooh, I love the Blue Man group! Saw them in LV and have one of their videos.

Serious. Moi?
cowhead • Jun 14, 2007 5:27 pm
all I want is a few pair of cheap ass 'way-farers' (sp?) the old 1.99 sunglasses.... mmm unbreakable. if any of you find some, let me know.

No, I was kid-dun.

wait, I'm thinking of Blue Tooth. I think.

I've had a pair of Ray-Ban RB4021's for six years now, and I still love 'em. I like the look and appreciate the way they pretty much hug my face, keeping things out of my eyes. Being rather anal, I tend not to lose much of anything, so the cost didn't really worry me, but I certainly understand most folks not wanting to invest too much in sunglasses.

growing up when raybans were the shit, i remember kids used to buy both a real pair of raybans and a pair of knockoffs then return the knockoffs back to the store they had bought the real ones from.
bluecuracao • Jun 14, 2007 8:27 pm
Wow, the clerks fell for that??

I have a pair of Ray-Bans too (black plastic frames but not wayfarers), but I rarely wear them. That's probably why they're still around after five or so years. Instead, I usually wear a pair of tortoise-frame cheapos that I picked up from a rest stop a while back.
freshnesschronic • Jun 14, 2007 8:29 pm
I myself like Target stunna shades too. Mine are the ovally square rounded kind like Oakleys except they are pure plastic. I wore them to work today, and when inside I wear them on the top of my head.
Pie • Jun 14, 2007 10:09 pm
I got a pair of dkny shades about seven years back -- still have them. I usually manage to lose glasses quickly, so this is somewhat remarkable.
DucksNuts • Jun 14, 2007 10:25 pm
I loooveeee sunglasses.

I have a pair of Oakley Juliets, plus a pair of Oakley Riddles and a pair of Vogue sunnies that I alternate between...depending what I am wearing.

The vogue ones are my favorite at the moment. Here's me wearing em :)
piercehawkeye45 • Jun 15, 2007 12:06 am
I don't like how I look with sunglasses or hats.

It seems to be the trend for girls to wear those huge sunglasses now. Do you see that at the U of I Fresh?
freshnesschronic • Jun 15, 2007 2:00 am
Of course. I thought that huge glasses already swept the nation, in college girls, high school girls and middle aged women. I mean, bug glasses are everywhere.
Yepa • Jun 16, 2007 5:05 pm
Earlier this week, I went on a sunglasses-hunt. Now, I like my sunglasses big enough to cover my eyes, sure, but preferably small enough so that my face not only actually shows, but so that the tan-line ends up somewhere above the jaw-line (it should preferably not be visible at all, to be honest). Unfortunately for me, there's this Hollywood-trend happening, where bigger is better, leading to my options being somewhat limited. I went from cheap store to cheap store, looking for something that didn't make me look like a Hollywood-starlet-turned-druggie-wannabe, but no such luck.. Eventually, I got so fed up, I bought the biggest, baddest sunglasses I could find:

They make me want to.. pose!
piercehawkeye45 • Jun 16, 2007 7:06 pm
Yes, those are the ones are the type I was talking about. They are everywhere on college campuses among the female population.
Yepa • Jun 16, 2007 7:45 pm
Just remember. Half of them wear them because they can't find anything else. It's not easy finding stuff that isn't in fashion.
freshnesschronic • Jun 16, 2007 8:21 pm
Wow pierce, you really can't get any more unoriginal can you :p

I never wear sunglasses. I guess I have never needed them. I use to think it was people with blue or green eyes who needed them most, and brown eyes naturally shaded themselves...hence my not needing them. I don't think that is true, though. Plus, I don't like the way they look on me.

I find it more difficult to communicate with a person wearing dark glasses, because I can't see their eyes.
Cloud • Jun 17, 2007 2:48 pm
(gasp) is that you, rkzenrage? OMG, I didn't know you were so hot! :)

but I'm not stalking you, I promise!

My eyes are also very sensitive to light - me, my Dad & my brother all suffer from photic sneezing, which means I sneeze up to 10 times if I move from shade into brighter light (this is a real condition!) Sunglasses help, but are essential wear in summer regardless,

I have 2 pairs of Oakleys - no idea what kind, they were bought for me in Duty Free by people coming back from the US. I love them for taking the painful edge off the world without taking away the colour.

But as I am careless with my belongings I usually buy supermarket sunglasses to supplement them. Right now I have a pair with huge white frames with rhinestones in the rims. Think Vegas era Elvis. Matches the chins.
jinx • Jun 18, 2007 6:53 pm
Ditto everything CF said about needing them and buying cheap ones at Target.
I splurged and bought a $20 pair last year at Cabelas, wore them twice I think, then I accidently threw them on the ground and stepped on them as I was walking into a store (sunglasses indoors ais a major peeve of mine).

I bought a pair of Fossils with one of LJs rewards cards - they look just like cop glasses.

Me either. But then I buy the cheapest ones I can get. I try to get the blue with hints of red/purple mirrored ones, but you appear to be wearing my current pair in your second pic, rkz

I also try to get glass lenses.
Sometimes I don't, but it is rare.
They are much more scratch resistant, the one's I've had last much longer.
My glasses usually last a couple of years or more.
