We've all been on the "Scrambler", the amusement park ride which simply spins and whips you around. It takes an artist to come up with a small addition that makes it more interesting.

Artist Rosemarie Fiore came up with the notion of attaching paint sprayers to the seats of the ride.

Boing Boing'd a few days ago and suggested by Axlrosen.

C'mon, I can do that...

I always thought it was neat that the scrambler looks like it's going every which way to the observer on the outside, but to the person riding it, it is basically a linear back and forth reciprocating motion where you smoosh yourself up against the person on the outside.

(Make sure the little 5 year old kid isn't on the outside when the 300 lb father is on the inside, or you'll have flat Stanley.)

:headshake Not Impressed.

Now if she'd used vomit rather than spray paint, that might have been something....

This work was funded by Grand Arts, Kansas City, MO, with assistance from Tony Wight/ Bodybuilder and Sportsman Gallery, Chicago, IL; ADA Gallery, Richmond, VA; and Todd Simon.
If you don't like the artwork, keep it to yourself... or Tony Wight(body builder and sportsman) will kick your ass.

i love it! not just because i loved that ride at carnivals, but also because i used to do alot of tagging... spray paint is as important to me as duct tape!

Sorry!! I've recently become full-time employed which has had a minor effect on IotD. But I'm committed to it and I'm pledging right here to do the best job possible of it.

I'm gonna hold you to that. Buster.

So there really *are* some seats that are better than others? The guy in the black-painting seat constantly gets whipped back and forth, while the red and yellow seats get bored? Or is that only sort of snapshot of the action, and it progresses through patterns as the ride continues?

I had a Spirograph as a kid, but it required just a little too much dexterity to keep the gears meshed. Maybe 'cos I was three or four.

Congratulations!

(please let me know if your site has a need for any experienced software testers. I happen to have one handy)

If we tested our software I wouldn't be up at 3:45 in the AM with pager duty.

(no actually the firewall had to be rebooted)
