The Cellar HQ

It is American based, right? I recall a post saying "blah blah ducky's spam won't be popular on an American forum" or something to that degree. But for the longest time I thought this was a UK based forum. And the contact us on the bottom is just an email doesn't tell information.

The home base is Upper Zimbabwe. There are satellite offices in Kalamazoo and Anchorage.

Fresh, you obviously haven't fallen into any of UT's personal threads (re bass playing or his garden for example). To a furriner like me they shout American so loudly I have to sing Rule Britannia to find myself again.

I'm the most American of the Americans? I always thought of myself as .01% Brit because of my days as a lad in Sheffield.

I didn't mean to imply you are the apogee of everything American - although I wouldn't mean it as an insult if I did.

For example the things you can grow in your garden (no tomatoes grown outdoors like that in the UK I swear, nor peppers neither) and the band website. Also the descriptions of where you play with the band. It would be odd for a part-time UK band to finance a trip to Philly for one night after all :)

Which is funny cause I just received my tax return (and spent it) about a month ago.

UT's location, right under his name says: Location: Valley Forge Natl Park. You can't get anymore American than that.

UT is in a very popular location in the Eastern U.S.

Thinking this through, perhaps it's not obvious to new posters that UT is the owner.

And I'm not talking about 20 Posts Wonders either - Fresh has settled into the community. I was a lurker so it was, like so obvious to me, but perhaps as the net is being spread wider UT might like an intro on the Register page?

This is a privately owned board supported solely by donations from its members. It's a public board and you are welcome to join, but bear in mind many of the long-term posters have volunteered money to be here and will take issue with spamming (although we mostly filter this out), trolling and general ass-hattery. The key word here is community. If you start laying into a member of our community your IP address will be noted. The nearest Dwellar and their five brothers will be dispatched to your house with baseball bats. And knives. And no apologies or pleading or screaming will save you.

UT is indeed located in Valley Forge National Park (he once told me he has a hell of a time avoiding the rangers), but The Cellar itself is hosted out of a hardened bunker in the former East Berlin. That particular rack installation was before my time by just a couple years, but I've been told that it was quite a challenge to get rid of leftover Stasi elements.

UT is the only administrator of the site so that is one way.

Depends how you define administrator.
Wolf & Bruce are Enforcers, Tony is the Overlord.

If you go FAQ it says UT is owner/administrator and then bruce and wolf are mods.

I try to respond back to donors, but the emails for paypal still go to my ancient address for my business, which is 99.8% spam, 0.1% paypal transactions and 0.1% useful items. So I apologize for not thanking everyone... sorry... it really does work and the money really does go to the Cellar finances which remain daunting.

I find it mildly amusing that our British population here has grown to the extent that someone thought this board might be a subject of the Queen.

Okay, I wondered about this, first because I donated and didn't even get a PM, which I was a little surprised about, but it's explained, and second--

what is a good amount to tip? and how often? Are you really struggling? Do people tip regularly?

I try to give 10% of my income to the Cellar. I think that's probably average.
