Is it just me...

...or is everyone else too, when someone posts an interesting thread subject that grabs your attention you click it. Then the thread leads to a hyperlink. And then you're too lazy to click the hyperlink so you're like "eh, fuck it" and click the monkey (because who wants to click a typewriter?) at the top to take you back home.

Yeah, I like it better when the article is quoted IN the thread so my lazy ass doesn't have to open another tab in Mozilla. Anyone else experience a similar phenomenon?

Ohhhh, let's don't start that again. I'd link the thread but ....

:)

People coming here from work are often reluctant to clink links.

you can click the monkey?

Which monkey do you click on?
monster • Jun 1, 2007 8:41 pm
I click on the words. But no, I'm not too lazy. If I'm interested and the poster is reputable, I'll follow the link.

I prefer to have a synopsis or the begining of an article rather than clicking on a link. If I am still interested after that I might click the link and post a comment.

You're not the only one fresh.

The only monkey on the Cellar banner, the one next to..the typewriter. If you click it, it actually screeches monkey noises. Or at least in my head it does.

Yeah! I haven't gotten a summer job yet and I applied to 10 places! I've been waiting so long...but I am still clean.

Don't just apply, call them. Believe me, it works a lot better.

and KEEP calling. Worst case, they give you the job to shut you up.

It's somewhat useful to think of this stage as test: Are you determined enough to get the job. You can make their part of the job (identifying which candidates are not suitable) easy by falling off their radar, being passive and waiting for them to call you, etc.

A couple of times a week is not too much. I would always wrap up the conversation with something along these lines:

"So, thanks for the update. When can I expect to hear / learn more? When will that next decision be made? (here's the kicker-->) If you don't have any objection, I'll call back just to make sure I haven't missed your call, If I haven't heard from you by then. (Don't ask "Ok?" Just leave it as a statement, presuming their assent)

Then *call* on that day or at least on the following day.

Look, it's your job to get a job. **Yours** It's not their job to give you one. They have numerous problems to solve at their work, one part of which is filling a position. Be in their mind, in their field of view when they're thinking about how to solve that part of their list of problems. You do that by calling.

If you put your cursor over the link, you can see at the bottom of your screen that it's a link to a cellar post. Well, at least I can with IE.
