Iraq and Afghanistan 2nd to WW2

I don't know who calculated this, but NPR reported that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, in adjusted dollars, cost second only to WW2:

When considering all of the wars the United States has fought since the American Revolution, adjusting dollar amounts to 2007 figures, the money spent on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars is the second-highest total in U.S. history, second to World War II.

When adjusted to 2007 dollars, spending on the Revolutionary War was about a hundredth of 1 percent of total Iraq and Afghanistan war spending since 2003.

I am not making any political point here. I was shocked at the statement. Here is the NPR story.

Hailiburton wasn't around for the early wars.
A Humvee probably costs as much as a WW II tank.

Just multiply this by 700.

And given the number of deaths and casualties as compared to previous wars I would say it was money well spent, well not politically, but when taken in the context of casualties.

Hello.... It's not spent, it's not even appropriated yet. It's a request in addition to the hundreds of billions already spent. And you've got the balls to bitch about your taxes.
