y'all gotta play this game! (addictive)

Flint • Apr 28, 2007 11:21 pm
The game, the basic manual, the more-detailed FAQs (from the forum). Oh, and the unlimited money version .

On the unlimited money version, you can't submit scores. If you try, it says "error" instead of "view score" ... But it is fun for practice and testing weapons.

Looks like math. Sorry but my prejudice won't give it a chance past the cover image.
Flint • Apr 28, 2007 11:33 pm
Well, if you give it a shot, I think you will enjoy it. I've been playing for about a week now. Since I saw it in this thread.
richlevy • Apr 29, 2007 11:19 pm
After about 4 games this is the best I could do. Fun. The best part is I can set it and forget it for a few waves if I want to switch back to the Cellar.

Damn you, Flint!
Spexxvet • Apr 30, 2007 2:17 pm
I like the way the missiles just circle around if the don't find anything to hit. I'm on level 86, and nothing's gotten past the first curve.
glatt • Apr 30, 2007 2:31 pm
Yet.

I got up to level 114, but things turn against you real quick, don't they?
richlevy • Apr 30, 2007 9:46 pm
I picked the spiral because I figured it would give me multiple chances at enfilading them on approach. Unfortunately, it also prevented me from bundling the multipliers like Flint did on his map. The gaps in the spiral are too small to clump together turrets and multipliers.
glatt • Apr 30, 2007 11:13 pm
Even in god mode, with an unlimited budget, it's hard to get past level 135. They just come in too fast.
Happy Monkey • May 1, 2007 1:19 am
You need to make more combos.

Not that I've hit 135...

Yeah, I know... But I stopped building missile launchers because with all the missiles in the air, I couldn't see what was happening.

Early in the game, I click on "send now" about every 5 seconds. The guns are strong enough to take out multiple enemies at the same time. It really racks up the cash fast.

In the cheater mode, don't ever click on "send now" because you need that time to be building and upgrading turrets for later. During the height of the game, you can't even see what's going on, it's so crazy. And the CPU uses 95% on this game. This is around level 150.
Flint • May 1, 2007 11:19 pm
Poison Gas slows them down; if they get hit multiple times with Poison Gas, they almost stop (long enough to get hit with nuke after nuke)
Flint • May 4, 2007 1:44 am
495th highest score ... in the high scores list, you can view the layouts & click to view ranges, levels, etc.
bluecuracao • May 4, 2007 1:47 am
I've been kind of wondering what happened to you, Flint. And now I know.
Flint • May 9, 2007 12:02 am
The sad thing is, I wasted thousands of dollars at the end of this game, expecting to die at any moment (total money spent is a factor in your score, so you try to finish with very little money) ... the problem was, the game kept going, so I kept piddling away small amounts of money on useless "rate of fire" etc. And for a while I was thinking "my next goal should be to get to level 300 . . . naaahhhh no way I can get to 300" but then I did. The other thing was, I was afraid my browser would crash before I could finish the game. I was in "low quality" graphics for about a hundred levels.

This is awesome.
Spexxvet • Jun 13, 2007 3:38 pm
There's a new version.

Flint • Jun 13, 2007 4:17 pm
Cool, haven't played the new version. What are those yellow things?

btw: You should place your blue turrets so that the road is just outside their range. That way, the rocket launcher is the only turret that fires and you get the maximum combo attacks possible (for each two blue turrets, you get a nuke launched every eight seconds). I'm just sayin' ...

Don't know what they're called. They shhot lightening bolts - if they don't kill, they slow enemies down, like poison gas.

Thanks for the tip.Image

I just checked Onslaught recently, and they've added a feature where you can design your own map.:thumb:

BTW Spexx, I like how you blacked out every tab but Labrat's Ass.

Interesting.
glatt • Jul 16, 2007 11:11 am
I haven't had too much time to play with this, but this is my most successful map yet. They go around in a very tight circle for like 20 revolutions and then they go off to the base. It lets you target one spot and keep hitting all of them at once, over and over again.
Spexxvet • Jul 20, 2007 9:57 am
The Black Hole will keep you alive, but you don't earn any dollars for what it sucks up. In this game, I reached level 207, but my kills were 1543 - I didn't kill anything after level 154. It got kinda boring. I don't think the Black Hole is useful.
glatt • Jul 20, 2007 10:45 am
Interesting. I hadn't heard of a black hole, so I'm trying it out. Using the custom map I made in the post above, I can't die. I'm up to wave 1,044. This will go on forever. I can't die. I click like crazy to sent multiple waves at once, and it kills them all. I can't die.

But you don't get credit for them, so it doesn't matter.
Flint • Jul 20, 2007 11:33 am

Anything that kills enemies, without rewarding you, will quickly turn against you;
...as the enemies advance and grow stronger, you haven't had the resources to prepare.

You have to stay ahead, always preparing for the future.
Spexxvet • Jul 20, 2007 4:06 pm
Interesting ... Glatt and I have the same turrets - 3 nukes, 1 poison gas, and a double yellow lightening thing.
richlevy • Jul 21, 2007 11:02 am
Vector TD is a similar game to Onslaught. It has more of an 80's feel. Nice background music.

There is an annoying commercial before the game loads.
%$^**&%!!, I was so $^$#ing close!
richlevy • Jul 22, 2007 2:41 pm
Good things come to those who wait.
Clodfobble • Jul 22, 2007 3:20 pm
Yeah but Rich, that's the easy map. :stickpoke My five-year-old stepson got that far... It'll only take another twenty hours or so to beat the next map, you can do it!
Spexxvet • Aug 2, 2007 9:52 am
A new version is out. The attackers are stronger at the beginning. I wondered why things were getting to Area 51 in the third wave, when I was using the same strategy that was regularly getting me to wave 160. After a while, though, it seems too easy - I'm on level 381, and have $96k to spend. It's kinda boring, actually. I've started experimenting with silly combinations just to see what'll happen.

I just tried the new version, and you are right. You can let it run in the background and do other crap without worrying about dying. It's hard to spend all the money. You start to run out of real estate.
Spexxvet • Aug 14, 2007 2:33 pm
I don't know what else I can do!
Flint • May 14, 2015 2:41 am
This game. Gawd I wish I'd never looked through my old threads...
