I would be seriously scared if Giuliani got into office in fear of a police state. If this is not seriously changed, Giuliani is too delusional that I question his mental heath. What scares me even more is that he is ahead of McCain in the polls.

I support Giuliani a lot more than McCain -- Giuliani's a social liberal.

Giuliani reminds me somewhat of Ed Koch. They both just said things that were incorrect, wrong, or really not what was intended. Did not matter to many New Yorkers who cared more about the acts rather than the words. One described Koch as an ebullient personality. Is Giuliani also one?

Well, Giuliani is apparently trying to do something that just is not him - be politically correct. Why? So many of us really don't want honesty. We want political correctness - which means we like lies. Giuliani is not very good at being political correct. He's trying to say what Republican Party mainstream wants him to say. It does not play well for a man whose reputation was more about blunt; who has little experience with being politically correct.

Giuliani grated so many wrong. But he could get things done; could plan for the long term. It is why NYC - without any support from George Jr and his band of extremists - could deal with the event called 11 September. For that matter, NYC simply needed one honest response from the George Jr administration. Was the air toxic? George Jr's administration even lied about that which is why so many post 11 September workers and rescuers are now medically disabled.

But George Jr's administration was politically correct - which too many American really want.

Giuliani will never get elected.

Personal opinion. Basically the war is the overriding issue of the country. Some Dem will be elected. So even if he were to get the Republican nod, I don't think he can win. He has some quirky notions which do not fit the conservative mode and I think he may not even get nominated to the top Republican ticket because of them along with his history of multipul marriages. JMHO.

A leader this early in an election does not get nominated - especially in the Democratic party. Romney's father (Governor of Michigan) and Rockefeller (Governor of NY) are classic examples.

But Guiliani has another problem as TheMercenary appears to address. Party mainstream has little in common with Republicans such as Specter of PA, Collins of ME, Hagel of NE, Sununu of NH, and Bloomberg of NY. Guiliani has a same problem.

Worse for Guliani as well as for so many other Republicans is this flip-flop on abortion and other issues. That's not a leader. That is one playing for a political agenda. As far as I am concerned, both party nominations are wide open to anyone - announced or not yet running. Why is it even relevant or discussed. That election is 1.5 years off.

History suggests none of these candidates will be nominated. An exception may occur. But these people should be acting as leaders - not whoring for votes.
