Saving money, preaching green.

Not really...

WASHINGTON -- A flock of small jets took flight from Washington Thursday, each carrying a Democratic presidential candidate to South Carolina for the first debate of the political season.

For Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama, Chris Dodd and Joe Biden, it was wheels up shortly after they voted in favor of legislation requiring that U.S. troops begin returning home from Iraq in the fall.

No one jet pooled, no one took commercial flights to save money, fuel or emissions.

All but Biden, who flew on a private jet, chartered their flights -- a campaign expense of between $7,500 and $9,000.

But when the most mentally deficient president flies multiple planes seven times to New Orleans just to give speeches in the dark or to proclaim he would rebuild Trent Lott's ocean front home ... oh ... TheMercenary forgets to quote that news story.

How many 747s are needed so that a president can give a prime time speech in New Orleans. Don’t worry. All those generators and fuel were carried in by the President’s staff of how many hundred (who did not bring food and medical supplies for New Orleans or LA citizens)? As if we don't know who let Louisiana citizens die as he flew to California for a campaign fund raiser.

Oh. Did TheMercenary forget that little fact ... conveniently? Convenient because his poltical agenda justifies reality. How manuy 747s and C-17s fly when the President tries to claim his sympathy for students in VA? Why so much silence from TheMercenary last week?

Remember this thread about Bush stopping by Boeing for a couple hours and the piles of money and energy spent on it?

Mercy, they're trying to stop all the cash and envronmental damage being done by a war in Iraq. Maybe you're getting senile - haven't you ever heard the saying "you have to spend money to save money"? What a foolish post/thread.

And you avoid the substance of the discussion. Why? Because it's a bullshit point that you're trying to make.:turd:

Avoiding a subject by diverting it to another subject, Iraq, and not the duplicity of their actions? No you are avoiding the discussion. :turd:

There is no discussion of Iraq. There is discussion of travel to a SC debate.

No, the discussion was you trying to make Democrats look bad. You failed.

No, the discussion was about preaching green to the masses and jetting around the country in your private plane using more gas in one flight than a working guy uses in a year driving to and from work. The Dems look bad all by their lonesome, they don't need help from me.

This is a perfectly reasonable reason to rag on the democrats.

After all, it's not like the republicans, authoritarian guardians of 'morality', are a party completely overrun with sex scandals and corruption.

In both discussions, TheMercenary starts posts with repeated references to excrement. Why does he use same logic and same words for both topics?

Here he posts contempt for Democrats while forgetting that Republicans have set new records for corruption and contempt for American soldiers and citizens. In that other discussion, TheMercenary posts contempt for the American soldier so as to protect the legacy of his beloved George Jr. In each case, TheMercenary's defense of his political agenda and contempt for America starts with 'excrement'.

That's five posts in 24 hours where TheMercenary posts "bullshit". No wonder TheMercenary associates soldier in Dover AFB with watching the grass grow. The American soldier is fertilizer for his righteous political agenda and George Jr's legacy? TheMercenary demonstrates contempt. He will pick a slightest topic to take a cheap shot at those who promote America and not his righteous political agenda.

Notice that TheMercenary forgot why those planes could not be shared. They were full – no room for sharing. Oh. But then if he included that fact, then he could not discuss excrement and fertilizer - the source of his contempt for those who oppose wacko extremism.

FLIGHTY HILL CHANGES PLANES - CONSTANTLY
By IAN BISHOP
AIR HEAD: Hillary Rodham Clinton used three planes in 24 hours for her recent swing through South Carolina and California. May 2, 2007 -- WASHINGTON - Jet-setting Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton is a fussy frequent flier who used three different planes in a single day during a recent campaign swing through South Carolina.

The former first lady even grounded one aircraft - a chartered Gulfstream II - in Columbia, S.C., last Friday, demanding a swankier Gulfstream III replacement for a flight out west.

"She didn't like the configuration of the cabin," an aviation source familiar with Clinton's travel told The Post.

And that was after the Gulfstream II pilot dropped Sen. Clinton off at the bustling commercial terminal rather than the secluded area for private planes, sources told The Post.

The Gulfstream III charter had to be scrambled from Westchester County to swoop into South Carolina and carry Clinton off to San Diego for the start of a two-day fund-raising trip to California, flight records show.

Clinton's campaign did not immediately comment yesterday.

Clinton's jet-capades began when she hopped aboard a Gulfstream II on Thursday afternoon that ferried her from Washington to Orangeburg for the first Democratic presidential debate at South Carolina State University.

That same plane brought her back to Washington that night, arriving just after 11:30 p.m., and then was sent back, with no passengers, 46 minutes later to await Clinton's arrival back in South Carolina the next afternoon.

On Friday, she used a Hawker 800 private jet owned by the New York investment firm Gilder Gagnon Howe for a morning flight to Greenville, S.C., from Washington, after an 8 a.m. address at a New York teachers' association gathering.

From Greenville, Clinton hopped back aboard the Gulfstream II for the 25-minute flight to Columbia before swapping it for the Gulfstream III.

Clinton soared across California in the Gulfstream III over the weekend, hopping from San Diego to San Jose, then over to Reno, Nev., and back to Van Nuys, Calif., before heading home to Westchester County - arriving early Monday morning.

It's not clear how much the charters cost.

Presidential campaigns can pay as much as $9,000 for a charter flight, but get a break when borrowing a corporate jet - like Clinton did with the Hawker 800.

That's because ethics laws allow candidates to pay the aircraft's owner only the equivalent of first-class airfare.

Clinton, who has warned against global warming from the stump and hyped the need for alternative energy such as ethanol, burned through thousands of gallons of jet fuel swooping along the campaign trail - and it's not clear why she sent an empty plane to wait for her in South Carolina then flew a different jet from Washington the next day.

Clinton kept her feet on terra firma yesterday, but was basking in the glow of megastar Bono, the U2 frontman and global activist who joined with Clinton to push for improved educational opportunities for kids in impoverished countries.

Meanwhile, Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) agreed yesterday to participate in a June 3 Democratic debate in New Hampshire.

Former Sen. John Edwards (N.C.) and second-tier candidates Sen. Chris Dodd (Conn.), Sen. Joe Biden (Del.) and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson had already signed on.

You know Merc, you have touched on an issue near and dear to my heart. Every time the Pres or VP comes to my area on a fund raising or partisan endorsement, issues not related to his official duties, I keep on asking myself why is my travel being restricted and my taxpayer dollars used to support partisan political activities of a President I didn't vote for?

Maybe instead of flying out for unofficial visits, he should have everyone pay their own money to fly in. If it will save my taxes, I'll even let him rent out the Lincoln bedroom. I don't care if he rents it out by the hour so his 'family values' supporters can f**k their mistresses, as long as it save me the tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours spent among federal, state, and local law enforcement supporting his visit.

I'm not talking about official duties, I'm talking about visits that under the Hatch Act are considered political and unrelated to his job.

BTW, the same rules should apply for all Presidents and VP's regardless of party affiliation.

The good news is that since his approval rating has dropped below %30, he's been making less and less visits to cities, concentrating on military bases for 'safe audiences'. These visits can even be classified as official. Bush becoming a political pariah has probably saved the taxpayers millions.

When Bush gave a campaign speech at Boeing, Philadelphia, they shut down I-95, PHL Airport and Shipping on the Delaware River for the afternoon.

I can't disagree with you on that subject. But you know as well as I do that all presidents do it. I didn't like Hitlery and her daughter taking a world wide trip on taxpayer expense either, but they did it.

See he was helping to decrease global warming so all those carbon eating machines did not have to run and make the place warmer.
