Local news gaffes

I love my local news, but the live thing can really throw them off. Examples:

One night they were with the guy "live from the newsroom." Behind him you could see monitors and other newsroomy equipment. On a little monitor you could see someone was watching The Simpsons. The Simpsons is on another affilate, for one thing.

The other night they were doing the national interest teasers. It went like this:

A raccoon dangles from an overpass in California. Dozens gather to see the outcome.

I thought, for the most split part of a second "Aww, I didn't know raccoons were so community oriented that they would be concerned and gathering over the welfare of a raccoon in need." Then I realized she meant dozens of HUMANS.

Good stuff. Any good stories from YOUR local news?
