Do you know your pluckers?

xoxoxoBruce • Apr 4, 2007 10:50 pm
This site has pictures of 50 guitar men. Can you name them?
Cloud • Apr 4, 2007 11:01 pm
no. I can get, like 5

I'm bad at music trivia. Music has just never been that important to me--can never remember band names, member names, lyrics, song titles, or any of that.

cool site though!
lumberjim • Apr 4, 2007 11:11 pm
yeah, that sucks. tiny little pictures......i need riffs, and band names and shit.
Clodfobble • Apr 5, 2007 8:25 am
I demand a showdown between Flint and Ibram for the amusement of the rest of us!!
Spexxvet • Apr 5, 2007 9:25 am
17, but I think Clapton isn't registering, or something.
Spexxvet • Apr 5, 2007 9:35 am
Ok, I looked at the answers. I spelled Stevie Ray Vaughan incorrectly, or would have gotten him. I thought Duane Allman was Clapton - oops. I'm proud to have gotten Brian May and Jeff Beck. I should have gotten Joe Perry, George Thorogood, and Nils Lofgren. Some of the photos are misleading, like Daviv Gilmore, or unrecognizable, like Neil Young.
Hyoi • Apr 5, 2007 12:30 pm
That was fun. Page and the lefties were gimmies. Yeah, it's a strong list, but some that might have been included are Leslie West of Mountain, Tommy Bolin of Zephyr, Luther Grosvenor of Spooky Tooth, Joe Walsh in his James Gang Days, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, and David Hidalgo of Los Lobos....to name a few. Yeah, old bastard jokes are welcome.
HungLikeJesus • Apr 5, 2007 3:10 pm
Pluckers? I thought it was going to be a chicken quiz.

Try this fast:
I'm not a pheasant plucker,
I'm a pheasant plucker's son,
and I'm sittin' pluckin' pheasants
til the pheasant plucker comes
.

Hard to see the little tiny pics and most of them have their mouths open like they're catching flies...so far I have BB and Santana.
xoxoxoBruce • Apr 5, 2007 9:33 pm
I'm hearing an awful lot of excuses.
richlevy • Apr 5, 2007 10:31 pm
Where was Esteban?

Ok, I got 9, mostly pre-1970's. I noticed some cases where there was no face, just a guitar. In some of the photos you had to know the photo because there was no features at all.

spoiler.

BTW, a lot of really recognizable faces like Elvis, Paul Simon, Bill Haley, Buddy Holly, etc, were missing.

BTW, who the ***k is YNGWIE MALMSTEEN?
xoxoxoBruce • Apr 6, 2007 12:57 am

Or the axe.
bluecuracao • Apr 6, 2007 1:06 am
Huh, I posted earlier, and it's not here now!

Anyway...I got 10--Bob Dylan, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Pete Townshend, Slash, Carlos Santana, George Thorogood, Ted Nugent, Frank Zappa, and Robert Johnson. I should have gotten 12, but I couldn't remember Dire Straits' guy, Mark (Knopfler's?) last name, and I though Johnny Winter was Edgar Winter.

Are you kidding? Even I've heard of him! (I couldn't pick him out, though.)
ravenranter • Apr 6, 2007 7:15 am
I got 17. I spelled Stevie Ray Vaughn incorrectly. Eric Clapton didn't seem to register for me either, Spexxvet.

And where the HELL was Jerry Garcia??? :(
xoxoxoBruce • Apr 6, 2007 7:50 am
And where the HELL was Jerry Garcia???
That's right.
Griff • Apr 6, 2007 7:59 am
I had 13 yesterday. I don't know the hair metal guys. There was a glitch, I had Stevie Ray identified for about three cycles before he registered. I also thought one guy was Albert Collins...
Griff • Apr 6, 2007 8:00 am
Wasn't that one dude Robert Johnson, as well?
glatt • Apr 6, 2007 9:38 am
I suck at spelling. I actually had to Google Pete Townshend to see how you spell the dude's last name. Kinda took the fun out of it for me, so I stopped. I got 7 before I quit. It's not easy.
LabRat • Apr 6, 2007 12:04 pm
I got :

Slash
Carlos Santana
Ted Nugent
Zappa
and couldn't think of "Cobain", but recognized him.

Had NO CLUE on the rest.

WTF does that say about me?
Griff • Apr 6, 2007 12:14 pm
That you listen to music rather than look at it?

Funny. I think Ibram would win (I'm just a drummer). I got 21: Jimi Hendrix, Angus Young, Bob Dylan, B.B. King, Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughan (had to google the spelling), Eddie Van Halen, Pete Townshend, Slash, Carlos Santana, Jimmy Page (the violin bow!), Chuck Berry (the duckwalk!), Ted Nugent, Frank Zappa (the facial hair!), Joe Satriani, Robert Johnson, Duane Allman, Keith Richards, Randy Rhoads (the polka-dotted Flying V!) Johnny Winter (the albino!), Yngwie Malmsteen (if you have to ask, you don't want to know).

I'm disappointed that I didn't get these: David Gilmour, Tony Iommi, Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler, Bo Diddley, and Steve Howe.
xoxoxoBruce • Apr 7, 2007 12:18 am
I'm surprised Flint....21 out of 50, dayem. Now I'm curious how Ibram can do.
I was lucky to get a couple but I figured you two would kill it.
See, I don't know enough to know just how hard it is, they're all hard to me.

23, just on my first pass. With deep thought, possibly more.
Ibby • Apr 14, 2007 5:16 am
make that 24 - i missed yngwie hiding in the corner there.
Ibby • Apr 14, 2007 5:19 am
I should be ashamed of myself; I couldn't even get half!

I'm sure I could name a lot more if I could see the pictures better, and I'm sure I know who all of them ARE (fairly sure, at least; these things usually dont have much variety).

Yeah yeah, I know, excuses excuses...
Ibby • Apr 14, 2007 5:23 am
STOP THE PRESSES

RANDY RHOADS PULLS IN FOR NUMBER TWENTY-FIVE!

...shaddup, I know this rounds off a quadruple post. I'm too tired to edit.
Flint • Apr 15, 2007 10:36 pm
I'd say half is pretty impressive in this case. 25 is better than any of the rest of us did.
Elspode • Apr 16, 2007 12:37 am
24, but the shitty pics were the reason I missed at least five more.
wolf • Apr 16, 2007 12:52 am
I got six, would have had eight but for spelling errors ... I apparently didn't know how to spell Malmstein, even though I did recognize him. Very few of the names were strangers to me ... although I must admit, despite MTV I spend more time listening to music than watching it.
duck_duck • Apr 16, 2007 11:43 am
I can't name one of them.
