Cheddarvision

Heard about this a couple of weeks ago - thought it was the usual English eccentric passtime. But it seems to be gripping the nation. A website devoted to a maturing cheese that's already drawn in close to a million hits.

The big 'wow' two weeks ago was national radio coverage of a maturity test by the site/cheese owner - Listeners (on the radio) and viewers on the website) witnessing the insertion and extraction of a cheese probe and after a few seconds its re-insertion as the drawn sample was returned to the body of the cheese.

Now, I had thought about submitting this for IOTD, but it doesn't really look that good - 100 days in and its more than a bit mouldy (as it should be), so not the greatest sight to behold.

Then I thought about 'Oddball News' but that wouldn't be fair to a cheese that's just doing what it's supposed to do - now would it?

So I've tucked it in here, instead, where all you gourmets and gastronomes will appreciate the opportunity to learn about this thrilling event. Seems just the right home for it...

Go on, Have a peek...!

I clicked on "Diary" and sat laughing at events like The Great British Cheese Festival and British Cheese Awards and 130th Frome Cheese Show.

Then caught myself scrolling down to see if any more International Cheese Festivals were taking place in London once I'd moved there.

What can I say? I love cheeeeeese.

Well, when you arrive SG, you won't go far wrong with a nice wedge of Waitrose ripe Somerset Brie accompanied by a Waitrose small baguette. Melts those Capital cares away.....

On the food chanel they have a cheese tasting show that goes from place to place. That's pretty interesting. I've never heard of cheddarvision though. It'd have to be pretty boring wouldn't it?

You mean like in 'lip my tights' (Bill Murray's exchange with the Japanese escort in 'Lost in Translation' - loved that scene!)

Yeah. You're in England right? Watch Japanorama with Jonathan Ross on BBC Three. Some weird shit there.
