:heart-on: After waiting not-so-patiently over a week after her due date, Daughter No. 2 drank castor oil this afternoon. She called me an hour ago and told me HER WATER BROKE!

Woo Hoo! newest Grandbaby Cloud On The Way!

yay!

think good birthing thoughts, everyone, please. Home birth; no drugs; midwife!

I hate this. I'm too far away! I'm not doing this --not being there-- thing again.

Probably won't have a chance to, since this is probably the last one. 6grandkids is a nice round number, doncha think?

We did the Bradley method here. No drugs. Smooth deliveries. Good thoughts Cloud!

yippee!

New grandbaby girll Marlee (middle name uncertain at the moment). Born March 23 at 6:55 p.m. at home, after 3 1/2 hours of labor. 8 lbs 2 oz.

Congratulations, Daughter No. 2! This is her second, after giving birth as a young teenager to her son (long story) she now has a daughter.

So here's a pic of big brother and baby sister:

Got a friend named Cloud.

Lovely kids!

My name's Cloud. I do have one granddaughter named Jayden Cloud in my honor. Her name actually has the names of her 2 grandmothers combined: Marlee = Mary (the other grandmother) and Lee (my real name).

Congratulations to your family!

Never heard the castor oil thing. Eating the delivery brownies or driving on cobblestones are the two biggies hereabouts.

When I was trying to go into labor, I tried drinking red raspberry leaf tea. It didn't work. But I drank a lot of tea. I even had a foot massage with accupressure, but it still didn't happen.

Congrats!

My cousin's doctor tells her to have vigorous sex or bumpy car rides to help start labor...

I guess we'll never know if it was the castor oil or simply her time.

Delivery brownies?

I have one of those old church community cookbooks ... you know the ones, everybody contributes a recipe. Many of them have cute stories attached. One of them is the Delivery (actually "pregnant" brownies, but the purpose is to get to you deliver rather than to get knocked up) Brownies.

They are really good brownies, but also have the side effect of initiating labor in an overdue pregnancy.

Is there some sort of ingredient not included in normal brownies?

. . . or castor oil

Castor oil works a treat if your cervix is ready anyways.

Beautiful Cloud :D

thanks, guys! I wish I could have been there. I had the extreme privilege of being present for 4 of my grandkids' births. The day a grandchild is born is A Very Good Day.
