Jesus Loves You !
The time has come," Jesus said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God
I think the time has come to ban this person.
Jesus loves you so much that he allows some of his "celibate" employees to actually demonstrate to you, physically, how much he does, in fact, love you. The demonstrations start out when you're pretty young, though, so don't forget to talk to your kids about the birds, bees and Jesus.

I really think that Jesus prefers Mexican food. I will ask him this weekend at dinner.
Noooo.... I think we should discuss this.
That Jesus loves me &/or the kingdom of god is near.
Reasonable discussion to have.
That Jesus loves me &/or the kingdom of god is near.
Reasonable discussion to have.
You? I thought for sure that he loved my neighbor - when her husband was out of town.
this bot didn't even capitalize He or His......great use of honoring Jesus by degrading his pronoun!!!
this bot didn't even capitalize He or His......great use of honoring Jesus by degrading his pronoun!!!
But neither did you!
By the way, in the English language pronouns are not capitalized, not even personal ones.
(P.S. What's a bot?)
i'm a pagan, I'm a heathen, the church will dispose of me don't worry about it
You? I thought for sure that he loved my neighbor - when her husband was out of town.
I smoke stogies with Jesus on Wed. and used to drink with his cousin.
Well, I for one am glad that someone loves me...I knew it was just a matter of time.
That Jesus loves me &/or the kingdom of god is near.
Reasonable discussion to have.
lol...compare and contrast.
You are God. Therefore she is correct. A man's home is his castle, so the kingdom of God is closer than you thought after all. I am God, therefore I am. Makes sense to me.
Goes to flood the bathroom! I am wrathfulllllllllll!!!!
I smoke stogies with Jesus on Wed. and used to drink with his cousin.
I sleep in the arms of Bacchus some nights....
I sleep in the arms of Bacchus some nights....
I used to wake up at the crack of Dawn....
Man, was her husband pissed!
Anyway, Jesus doesn't need to love me.
He's got lots of friends.
I see them outside the "Home Depot" all the time.
Jesus Loves You !
I am getting ready to go out for some mexican food and rita's, I will ask him when I get there.
Jesus was a porter in the hospital where I trained and every afternoon between about 3 and 4 rode up and down the main lift/elevator selling the best weed ever. It was his mobile shop and staff & patients rode along to get the best deals. :joint: Peace & Love
Jesus Loves You !
I am getting ready to go out for some mexican food and rita's, I will ask him when I get there.
Be careful!!!!

Apparently, Jesus can be
bought.
Apparently, Jesus can be bought.
Jesus van, I like it. I don't want it, but I like the idea of selling Jesus, sort of like a church on wheels. Jesus for sale, guess it is not unlike a bricks and mortor church, eh?
Wow. I never thought I'd say it, but I'd like to buy Jesus.
Jesus would help me out no end at this point.
Mat 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
You all ought to have some respect for God and His Son. Hasn't Jesus suffered enough (on the cross) without you continuing to mock him two millenia later? Or are you so insecure about yourselves that you have to slander other peoples' deities to feel good? For "tolerant" people, its fascinating that you cannot tolerate Christians or holiness.
? For "tolerant" people, its fascinating that you cannot tolerate Christians or holiness.
We just can't tolerate people shoving their beliefs down our throats. Reasonable enough.

You mean like this good Christian?:
I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good. Our goal is a Christian nation. We have a biblical duty, we are called on by God to conquer this country. We don't want equal time. We don't want pluralism.

[This happened to be the quote below the tip mug.]
I don't think we ever actually claimed to be "tolerant."
Does this look like bible class to you? No? Good, that's how we like it.
I think you are all being much more tolerant of him in your posts than I would be.
You all ought to have some respect for God and His Son.
I do, who the fuck are you to tell me I don't?
Hasn't Jesus suffered enough (on the cross) without you continuing to mock him two millenia later?
Can you say assumption, or do you just make them?
Or are you so insecure about yourselves that you have to slander other peoples' deities to feel good? For "tolerant" people, its fascinating that you cannot tolerate Christians or holiness.
No, fool. It's people that are so stupid they run around screaming intolerance, when in fact it is their intolerance that blots out the Son*.

Luk 14:26 If any [man] come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

Jesus died for somebody's sins, but not mine.
Okay. Own up, whose sins did Jesus die for? Come, on....I've got all night.
Jesus rocks...unfortunately, the actions of some of his "followers" make you want to kick them like puppies.
Okay. Own up, whose sins did Jesus die for? Come, on....I've got all night.
Yeah, well, prolly mine. (kicks at dirt and looks away)

No one was slandering.......it's called libel you goof. :D
I think it is a good idea that we quit making fun of Jesus....I'd rather make fun of you.......
How did you learn how to get this far on the internet anyway? Is someone moving your mouse for you?
Trolling for Jesus? C'mon.....you are going to have to account for the time you spent being a royal pain in the neck.
You obviously don't know the first thing about tolerance or holiness- and it's
not fascinating. Now go account for wasting your time here.

If Jesus died for all of mans sins, did He not die for the sins of Judas Iscariot also?
If not, why?
Are not the sins of Pontius Pilate also forgiven?
What of Cain, recognized as the first murderer? Are his sins forgiven?
What is the limit of forgiving?
Are Hitlers sins forgiven?
Pol Pot? Stalin? Jeffery Dahmer?
Just wondering...

I sleep in the arms of Bacchus some nights....
So
THAT'S who that was... :)
If Jesus died for all of mans sins, did He not die for the sins of Judas Iscariot also?
If not, why?
Are not the sins of Pontius Pilate also forgiven?
What of Cain, recognized as the first murderer? Are his sins forgiven?

Well, yeah. The way I tend to view un-Murdochian (read: actual) Christian forgiveness is like this. Picture a guy on the sidewalk behind a Psychiatrist Lucy from Peanuts-esque desk. He's handing out free money. Trick is, you gotta ask for it. If you do, cool: here's some money. If you don't, the guy behind the desk will be bummed because hey - why turn down free money and be miserable? But hey, your call.
Root theory of the Crucifixion in its basic sense (which is all I got from sporadic CCD classes as a kid plus amateur theology research of my own) works as follows: "All the bullshit you'd have to go through post-death to get into Heaven? I (Jesus) cut through all that. You don't owe Me anything - it's like that person that walks around and puts a quarter in your parking meter just before it expires. Just ask to be let through the door, and you got it. All I ask is that you not be a schmuck. If you happen to engage in schmuck-like behavior, it's cool, just own up to it and we're golden. Should you choose not to ask to get in, well, it's a bummer but it's your life."
To quote Jeff Foxworthy - "You might be Catholic if..."
AFAIK, "You might be a Catholic if..." was never part of his act.
AFAIK, "You might be a Catholic if..." was never part of his act.
Yup, you're right.
I meant to say "paraphrase", not "quote".
He died for every sin. Sin entered the world through Adam, and the justification of sins by Jesus blood covered all sins.
People benefit from said forgiveness of sins by believing in the Savior that saved them. Jesus clarified what HE considered sin in the book of John:
Joh 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
Joh 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
Joh 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
Joh 16:10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
Joh 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
v9: sin = unbelief in Jesus.
So he has cancelled the debt of all individual sin, and it has become that unbelief in Jesus is the only sin remaining.
But, we will all give an account for our works, and for every idle word we speak.
Mat 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Sin entered the world through Adam?
Does not the Bible say that Eve ate of the fruit of the Tree Of Knowledge, and because of her, man was cursed with "Original Sin"?
===
So he has cancelled the debt of all individual sin, and it has become that unbelief in Jesus is the only sin remaining.
What of murder? A murderer can believe in Jesus. Using your statement, murder is not a sin, if you believe in Jesus.
===
But, we will all give an account for our works,
Fine. I have no problem with that.
===
and for every idle word we speak.
Define "idle word".
What, EXACTLY, is meant by that phrase?
===
And what of those who lived before Jesus?
Those who couldn't follow and worship him?
Are their souls cast into the torment of Hell?
Or did they get a free pass to Heaven?
What of those who do not believe in Jesus or your version of Heaven?
What of the babies murdered on orders of Herod?
What, also, of Longinus? He who pierced the side of the Christ?
What of Barrabbas?
What of Cain?
OH and answer those questions in your own words
Try it - no cheating either
"And what of those who lived before Jesus?"
they had priests & prophets. once a year each family would bring a sacrafice and the priest would take it into the temple and make a "burnt sacrafice" for the whole family, to atone for the sins over the past year.
I'm curious, if homosexuality (that one version of sodomy, no one seems to care about anal or oral sex between married couples, also biblical sodomy and the same abomination) is a sin (the bible does not call it that, but we'll let that go), what are the other 613 abominations?
If they are also sins, why are people not picketing Red Lobster (eating sea bed animals) or tailors (mixed thread garments)? :headshake
They are the same.
Perverts are obsessed with sex.
This was divinely inspired… LOL!!!

Cite... no! I don't hafta' read tha' bible... it confuses me!:(
Actually, Kings, is a really useful source, historically speaking. I mean, don't get me wrong most of it's bullshit (by which I don't mean intent to deceive, but the archetypes and anecdotes that merge history and myth in equal measure), but there's some really useful stuff in there that, taken with some other evidence is really useful in defining the relationships between certain early empires/powers in the near and middle east. Much of it has clearly been gleaned from much earlier (non-extant)writings and offers tantalising glimpses into things like the power and brutality of Assyria (how strongly that was felt!) and the extent of Pheonician influence around the turn of the first millenium b.c.
Exactly, the entire old testament is the history of the Jews and the world as they saw it from their limited perspective.
*nods* much of it. Some of it is borrowed from neighbouring cultures. Lot of mingling of mythical foundations during the bronze age.
I'm just glad that's over.
I don't intend to do any marketing for or against it.

Semi-Random Bible quotes cribbed from other sources? I think that's what you called Gannet out on, wasn't it?
Quoted from the Bible and they were not random at all, each directly contradicts the other.
The bible is not an authority on anything , moral or otherwise, and should never be used as such due to its inconsistent nature.
A moral code cannot contradict itself.
Christians state the bible is the "truth".
What truth?
That one honors they mother & father or hates them, forgives their children or dashes them upon stones, does not kill or commits genocide, honors the sabbath or works on it like jesus, etc, etc, etc....?
Son, stay out of that water, you will get wet.

Each said at different times, different places, with different intentions.
Son, stay out of that water, you will get wet. <Outside in school clothes waiting on bus and found a puddle of water to entertain himself.>
Son, go ahead, get in the water. <On vacation and just got to the beach.>
Same for:
Dad, can I have a cookie? No.
Dad, can I have a cookie? Yes.
Dad, can I have a cookie? No. <Just before dinner>
Dad, can I have a cookie? Yes. <Just after dinner>
Funny as it was, the verses you used weren't in the same settings, same times, etc. Cherry-picking versus is easy to do if you want certain results...just like statistics. Therefore, they don't really tell us anything the way they were presented. Again, funny but not really a good argument about the Bible's validity (or lack thereof).
"You are taking out of context!"
Bullshit.
By that argument I can use the bible to justify any action and no one can disagree under any circumstances. Christianity is license to do anything that pops into your head.
Once more.
The Bible is not a book.
The Bible is a collection of books, a library.
Like any library, some of the books will refer to the same or similar happenings but they are separate stories, not chapters in one book.
The fact that statements in one book contradict the statements in another is because they are different stories of different people, places, circumstances and times.
Saying, "Christians state the bible is the "truth", shows you don't understand Christians or the Bible.
But bruce, you can't deny that there are christians who do "state the bible as truth".
What rkzenrage has a problem with are the 'religious right' kind of christian... the one who uses their faith to justify their prejudices.
We're talking jerry falwell, not the local part-time pastor.
If you wanna argue that THEY don't understand christianity or the bible, go right ahead... but people keep saying that muslims need to muzzle their fundamentalist brethren or suffer from the image blow? Same thing, here.
I talked about Ezekiel 22 in today's

Even the ones that will say, 'yeah, the Bible is true', are usually keeping it in context of the particular book of the Bible, and don't often claim every verse is true and applicable in every situation.
What I've been bitching about from the gitgo, is he rages with the broad brush on every stroke, making him sound as wacky as the Christian extremists like Falwell. If someone makes a claim, attribute it to them, not to Christian.

You can't do that in a free country, as long as they have the TV ratings, and rkzenrage keeps watching them.

Where is their support base? How large is it.
If it were just a few wackos Falwell would just be another nobody.
Moderates who do not speak out against them are complaisant.
Even if Falwell's support base is in the millions, it does not constitute all Christians, which is what you imply when you say Christians this and Christians that.
I have no problem with you, or anyone, crying foul, when the wackos are being stupid. But I strenuously object to lumping millions of decent people into the wackos camp, against their wishes.
Show me where I said all Christians were guilty.
he said 'imply'
for someone who's been pissing on about people not reading, you sure are having comprehension problems. maybe if you acted like someone who reads posts, you'd do better?
Christians state the bible is the "truth".
Christianity is license to do anything that pops into your head.
Show me where I said all Christians were guilty.
There's two of many, very many.
The bible does just that.
If Christians do not state the bible is truth, on what do they base their beliefs?
In no way did I say Christians, I said Christianity.
You can't tell the difference between the individuals and the organization?
Shame.
You call that "Imply"? Funny, you interpret something for yourself and put it on me... have at it. It's funny.

They don't say the Bible is truth, they say the truth is in the bible.
If I read a book in the Bible and believe it to be a true story, as close as they can get it through multiple translations anyway, that doesn't mean you can pluck out a verse and say that's what the bible says? It's the same as you can't pluck a post out of this thread and say, that's what the thread says, or an entire thread and say that's what the Cellar says.
Also, the Christian faith is based on Jesus Christ's teachings, the old testament is just what led up to that point, so it's truth is a moot point.
In no way did I say Christians,
The fuck you didn't.

Yes, you also said Christianity. Are you trying to claim it is less a blanket indictment of all Christians? Shame indeed.

OK, lets not call it imply, lets call it the outright fucking lie that it is.
Which of Jesu's teachings? Hate your mother and father, come with a sword, love everyone? Everyone gets to pick their favorite.
You are making my point, you can make the bible say whatever you want.
You took my quote out of context and changed the basis for the reply. Cute.
If its not the truth then there is no belief based on it... speaking of lies.
OK, cite;
Where Jesus said, hate your mother and father.
Where Jesus said, come with a sword.
I know where he said love thy neighbor as thy self.
Took you're quote out of context? I don't think so, but I must yield to your level of expertise, since you're the consummate pro at that.
Luke 14:26
"If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple."
Think not that I come to send peace on earth: I came not to send
peace, but a sword.
- Matthew 10:34
In both of those verses Jesus was speaking to the apostles, warning them if they were not completely committed they were wasting their time, and his. Emphasizing the job they were setting out to do would be opposed by a whole host of opponents.
He was warning them it wasn't going to be a walk in the park, but like a war, against everything from kings with armies to whining relatives, trying to dissuade and detour them at every turn. He was telling them if they weren't prepared to give up everything and everyone, don't even start.
That's why there were only 12 apostles out of the multitudes he spoke to. Notice he wasn't saying go out and tell everyone this message, these weren't boot camp speeches, this was green Beret training.
The reason they were recorded is for street creds... these were the apostles credentials to preach to the masses after Jesus was gone.
Oh, so that's different. I see.
It's like when Scientologists sell Dianetics to the masses, but when you're pot committed, they bring out Xenu.
