February 13, 2007: Chocolate baths

Spluch offers up news of this chocolate bath which is available to patrons of a hot springs spa resort in Hakone, west of Tokyo, Japan. This is not the first time this spa has been featured on Spluch; before, it's been noticed offering other baths, of wine, Japanese sake, green tea and coffee. They note:
The water in the bath is mixed with cacao and fragrant bath powders while chocolate in its liquid form is poured over the bodies of the bathers. Couples can have fun smearing the chocolate over each others' bodies or lick it off.

Ewwww. That would be licking off chocolate that's been flowing around naughty bits and between toes and stuff. Yuck!
Sheldonrs • Feb 13, 2007 2:00 pm
Nothin' says luvin' like lickin' the chocolate off your partner after 10 other guests have peed in it.

I'd like to buy a vowel, Pat.

Apparently "hot springs spa resort" is Japanese for "public swimming pool."
freshnesschronic • Feb 13, 2007 2:18 pm
Oh, the Japanese. Years ahead of us...or are they?

That was my first thought, too....BUT...I re-read the article and interpret it to mean the water is water with chocolate in it, but they POUR melted chocolate over the people and the people can lick it off themselves (and have to do so before the chocolate dribbles into the water) thereby the chocolate is chocolate until it gets into the water with the other general naughty bits.
Don't drink the water.

I agree. They have more of a "what the hell have we gotten ourselves into?" look on their faces.
Clodfobble • Feb 13, 2007 5:24 pm
In Japan, even the chocolate baths are crowded as all hell.

It's actually the world's largest Bass-O-Matic.

3 minutes on puree and you've got a very high-protein chocolate shake.

Jap-O-Matic? :thumb:

This was on the news just a few minutes ago. They sure looked to be having fun on the camera they had in there. I hope none of the mum's and dad's are hoping junior goes down for a nap afterwards though. Imagine the sugar high!

It's true that the water has chocolate stuff in it, but there's also melted chocolate continuously flowing into the baths, so I'd imagine the licking off chocolate would be that which had fallen directly from the font.
SPUCK • Feb 13, 2007 9:48 pm
In that water you can hide more than the occasional peeing.
Gawa • Feb 13, 2007 11:44 pm
The kids wearing goggles...were they actually hoping to see something underwater?

Bearing in mind that the Japanese clean themselves before getting in communal baths (and think the Western idea of a bath where you sit in your own dirt is filthy) I would suggest that only chocolate on the bodies is licked off.

It still looks like my idea of hell, personally.

Get a chocolate massage bar from Lush - much more personal. Just don't send it cheekily through the post to your amour's workplace, only to have the postroom leave it next to a radiator. Ahem.

What the.... massage bar... rub on skin.... chocolate? Do you eat the chocolate that's been packaged with.....
....Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii), Ylang Ylang Petal Oil (Cananga odorata), Geranium Oil (Pelargonium crispum), Clary Sage Oil (Salvia sclarea), *Benzyl Salicylate, *Citral, *Eugenol, *Geraniol,*Benzyl Benzoate, *Citronellol, *Farnesol, *Limonene, *Linalool, Perfume, Fresh Rose Petal (Rosa centifolia).

Actually the one I had (years ago) was mostly cocoa butter & chocolate from what I remember...

But if I was massaging this into someone you can bet I'd have a lick at some point
xoxoxoBruce • Feb 14, 2007 6:02 am
OK, so the chocolate is part of the massage and not for eating while massaging? :smack:
Sundae • Feb 14, 2007 6:39 am
I get where you're coming from now!

Yes, the bar is for massage, rubbing in, warming with your hands and relaxing your partner. And as part of that warm sensual experience you use the chocolate topping the same way (but sparingly) to include the smell of chocolate. And any transferred to the body can be slowly removed with your tongue.

And now I'm going to go & have a lie down.

Perhaps you could call yourself Chocolate Sundae Girl now. ;)

Uhhh... communal… edible bath... good thing it isn't bathing suit optional… errr… Japanese fetishes… yikes…
Flint • Feb 14, 2007 12:55 pm
What the hell? That's my wife! Hi, honey. Happy Valentine's Day. Sexy bath-time tonight!
xoxoxoBruce • Feb 14, 2007 5:53 pm
The chocolate is ok but I'm not sure I want to be licking

Is it nasty-tasting Baker's chocolate or is there sugar in it too?
xoxoxoBruce • Feb 14, 2007 9:01 pm
The description sounded like the ingredients for real chocolate. The link she put up isn't working and at the Lush homepage, that bar is gone, poof, disappeared.
Maybe they sold out for Valentines day.... or somebody ate one and the lawyers said get it off the site quickly.
Pooka • Feb 15, 2007 11:23 am
... Damn that mouse of ours...

Hi Honey... I'd like to capitalize on your bath offer!
Flint • Feb 15, 2007 11:43 am
I'll bet you're not making fun of my mouse collection now.

I'm guessing it's inappropriate to bring to mind the tubgirl image at this point?

Well everything but the benzyl benzoate is flowers and that might be benzoin which is a very sweet essential oil. Well, maybe perfume isn't real flowers.

I once saw all the chemical names for constituents in canteloupe and it looked fearsome. A rosa centifolia by any other name...

No Honey... I am no longer making fun of your mouse collection... large as it is... it serves a purpose... just don't buy any more or they'll wind up as cat toys.

I still want that bath...
