yahoo instant messenger

lumberjim • Jan 28, 2007 3:12 pm
I'm 'lumberjimatwork'.
lumberjim • Jan 28, 2007 6:04 pm
ooops, I didn't think i had posted that. Got interrupted.

anyway.....the chat thing is kinda cool, especially when the cellar is slow. but the software is kinda lame. Yahoo IM has conferencing that would work the same way, if everyone was using it, and knew each other's handles.

Does anyone know if there is a program that interfaces all of the different kinds of IM programs....like yahoo, and aol and such? we could use that instead.....

use this thread to set chat times or let people know you're bored and want to chat.......
DucksNuts • Jan 28, 2007 6:23 pm

Ali - wtf dont I have you on yahoo??
Sundae • Jan 29, 2007 7:17 am
I don't seem to be having any luck signing into Yahoo Messenger. I don't use yahoo usually so I've set up a username for messenger and it just sits there saying, "signing in..."

If someone could send me a message to see if I'm accessible from the outside I'd appreciate it - working_sundae.

Also, I assume once I'm in I can set up a friends group, like ICQ and MSN? I don't want to have 14 year olds sending me "hehe hows u lol" messages all day.
Perry Winkle • Jan 29, 2007 10:31 am
paleomacus on both aim and yahoo

kkeebbkkeebb on Yahoo!

SG, I believe you can tell it to only let through messages from people on your contact list.
Sundae • Jan 29, 2007 10:48 am
I'm in the process of deleting it from my desktop :(

Every IM I have installed tells me it is currently unavailable. I just don't have the patience to spare for this - it's currently being used up not screaming at a colleague.
SteveDallas • Jan 29, 2007 10:52 am
Is it possible there's a blocker on your computer? I know the stuff we have on the rugrats' computer lets us lock down the IM softwares.
Sundae • Jan 29, 2007 10:55 am
It is possible I suppose. MSN was still working on my PC when I moved here (March last year) but it was increasingly unreliable so I stop using it. IT may have put something in, in the mean time - I can't see there's much of a case for IMs being needed for work purposes here....

I don't normally run Trillian, but yesterday I added DucksNuts' Yahoo ID to my Trillian Cellar group.

It's still pretty rare to find anyone online on the few occasions I check.
DucksNuts • Jan 29, 2007 9:40 pm
ohhh so you are one of the ones that I have no clue who they are?
wolf • Jan 29, 2007 11:15 pm

I refuse to use AIM on principle, ditto for ICQ and others

I'm rarely on line anyway. Chatting and working don't mix in my line of work.

I'm sad, I remember when ICQ (I even had a 4-digit id...) was the IM client of the discerning user.

Anyone else remember the irc-cum-gamematchmaker service called Kali? Before it was updated to Kali 95?

Well you guys are lucky I never use those services. I am bored and Unemployed. :)
skysidhe • Apr 9, 2008 6:07 pm
I don't have those services just because I like to hear a persons voice. To actually meet people and to be close enough to invite someone over for dinner of visa versa if I want to.
LabRat • Apr 10, 2008 10:52 am
so WTF are you here for? ;)
xoxoxoBruce • Apr 10, 2008 11:26 am
