January 10, 2007: Amazing, terrifying crash [not graphic]
I thought it would be funny to label this not graphic. Wolf sends along these shots, which apparently document a crash that happened a few days ago, discussed on a
Mustang (Ford) fans forum.
Now, first, you have to realize that the truck is facing the wrong way. Look at it.: it's facing
towards where it first crashed.
The truck must have hit a barrier or two, launched itself off of a guard rail, jumped! Jumped a massive storm drain! And either spun or tipped or both, in such a way that it was facing the other way. Somehow it wound up sitting on a ridge, and not at the bottom of whatever that ridge sits on top of...
Which is...
Whoa.
That driver needs to play the mega-millions, his/her luck is on fire!!!
Ooooooooo.... um... glad I'm not cleanin' out that cab.
That driver needs to play the mega-millions, his/her luck is on fire!!!
Nah, he's been flying high for so long, I think he's due for a big crash. I mean, he's driving by the seat of his pants, it will be his downfall. He's due to receive his comeuppance any day now, or in this case his godownance. After all, you know what they say: pride cometh before the fall. Etc.
This "shit your pants" moment brought to you by Geico.
Very nice setup, telling the story while zooming out like that. :)
The rescuers are probably using the Jaws of Life to pry the drivers hands from the steering wheel.
I can STILL here the screaming, from here.
Good God. It's amazing how bad acrophobia can be; all it takes is these three pictures, and my palms are still sweating.

That driver is one seriously lucky *ucker. Forget playing the lottery, all the luck got used up there.

What the hell Flint...I used to play that game all the time a few years ago! We're in some kind of parallel pop culture universe. :p
Actually, it might have been a different version, this one was more like an online game show against other people. It was SO fun.
Wha-... That was this close! :worried: And very lucky.

I've never actually played it, but Steve (from AG) used to talk about it all the time. I remembered the name, and
Google Image Searched it.
There aren't many good images of it, but here's a better one. With the intelligence and verbal skills and wit of the people here I bet we could have a blast with it.
I played that for a while, in that "don't know jack" format. It was a hoot. I'd love to play a session of this against y'alls.
Me too, UT. It really is funny, the things people come up with.
There was an old text based game called Blanks that I loved, too. That was about 10 years ago.
Making acronyms out of the board owner's username makes a fun thread. (On AG it was "Michael")
What are those guys on the ledge trying to do? I can only assume it's getting the driver out, but in the second picture they look like they're pushing the truck towards the edge. Plus you can see the headrest and steering while, but no driver.
It looks like we could set that up with a private room at
www.acrowars.comI'd love to do that sometime...would be tough from work, though. Believe it or not I do get a lot accomplished between posts. :)
oooooo a "private room" with Shawnee123!
It'll cost you more than a few acronyms to earn a private room with me!

Same here, busy at work. Plus, at home I have the whole 3 month-old infant thing going on.
I don't know if something like this would even be possible for me, except maybe late at night.

How much for a public place? ;-)
I played many many many many hours of acrophobia. I love it. Let's get something on a calendar, yes?!

agoraphobia....How do you play acrophobia?

I'm officially taking initiative! Let's try tonight, in the room called "TheCellar" (
http://www.acrowars.com/TheCellar), 9 PM Central US Time--that's 10 PM Eastern US, and hell-if-I-know for all you furreners. :) Log in with your Cellar username if it's not already taken.
I will be very sad if it turns out I'm all alone in there tonight.
agoraphobia....
Clenchednutsackpuckeredpoopersweatypalm syndrome
Jesus!
Um, to clarify, I accidentally had threaded mode on, and thought I was the first person to comment on the truck pictures. When I realised I wasn't, I also realised that a single "Jesus!" really was a bewildering post.
I should not post things when I have the 'flu.
I will be very sad if it turns out I'm all alone in there tonight.
:sniff:
Edit: Dry those tears! RellikLaerec loves me after all. But the rest of you are still off the Christmas card mailing list!
Edit part deux: Okay, there were a few more takers late in the hour. We'll be trying again tomorrow night at 9 PM CST if anyone else is up for it.
This "shit your pants" moment
*ahem*
Spinning and pooing...?

I have the flu too. Missed 2 days of work already. 102°.

IotD from 2001.I tried to log in there but couldn't seem to. Maybe I'll try again with a different username. Perhaps mine is already taken and that's what the problem is.

Spinning and pooing...?
Trust me.
Speaking from personal experience, when something like that happens, you don't have clean underwear on for long.
In my case, no coyotes were involoved.

Log in where?
Speaking of a messy seat.
When I was going to college my apartment was 2 blocks from a railroad crossing. A major crossing. There were five rails crossing the roadway. Of course there were gates that would come down because multitrack crossing are extra dangerous.
Well one day a freight train was coming. At the limit. 79MPH. The gates went down and the traffic started piling up on both sides of the tracks. The five locomotives blew past the crossing as did the next 20 box cars in the train of 122 cars. The 21th box car derailed and instantly took out the tracks. The next 44 cars came over the crossing sideways They stayed perfectly between the crossing gates missing them by less than a foot on each side. They were filled with sheet rock and lumber. 2 Ton wheel sets went by no longer under the cars. It was a gargantuan mess!
I ran over there. In talking to a responder later he said most of the people in the front few cars actually blew their shorts out. I think I would've sitting there for perhaps 60 seconds while this unfolded before me.
I wonder if the guy in that truck had time to notice or was drunk and wondered why his car stopped going..
Wow.
I love the set-up.
I was trying hard to dredge up some empathy for the driver - but although I appreciated it must be horrible to jump the guard rail, the car just wasn't trashed enough to get my sympathy.
And then the reveal. Oh My God!
Made me feel a lot better about today's disaster (choosing to walk in and then being rained on so hard every single stitch of clothing I had on was running with water).
That driver is one seriously lucky *ucker. Forget playing the lottery, all the luck got used up there.
Oh, come on. Shouldn't we stop saying those things? We know
neither is true.
As far as acrophobia I wish I could join you. Hopefully in a couple months I'll have internet access at home. Let me know how it works out and I hope you have fun. I can only imagine! :)

Two of them, actually.

Heck, some folks around here would pay to see that. :thumb2:
No, not me.
Yeah, Sundae. Looked a mite damp.
Once again the United Kingdom had been hit with a storm, with thunder and lighting, 85 mph winds,120 mm of rain in places. In Wales 80,000 people are without power and serverly damaged with the worst afected built up areas of 2 bigest citys of wales Cardiff and Swansea where 40000 people are without power.
insane! the fact that it ended up in that position on a flat surface, but then to factor in the miniscule percentage over this deep canyon is mindblowing.
