Celebrity Death Pool 2007

Spexxvet • Dec 27, 2006 9:53 am
Since there's already been a list by the lovely Sundae Girl for 2007, I guess we better start a dedicated thread.
Sundae • Dec 27, 2006 9:58 am
Quite right too - blame Christmas over-indulgence on me not having the sense to think of it myself!

Fidel Castro
Margaret Thatcher
Nicole Ritchie
Patrick Moore
Norman Wisdom
Mickey Rooney
Frank Carson
Zsa Zsa Gabor
Gaddafi
Islom Karimov

The celebs let me down last year, so I've featured politicians more heavily this year. I feel I can at least count on Castro (and how often do you get to say that?)
RichUK • Dec 27, 2006 3:56 pm
Here we go, threw a couple of wild cards in there for good measure.

Margaret Thatcher
Dick Cheney
George H Bush
Ronnie Biggs
Kirk Douglas
Holly Johnson
Pete Doherty
Nelson Mandela
Fidel Castro
Kirk Kerkorian
JayMcGee • Dec 27, 2006 7:43 pm
sticking my neck out (literally)....

Oooooh. Everybody's favourite fascist grandad.
Madman • Dec 28, 2006 11:46 am
Saddam Hussein! Or is that a gimme?
Radar • Dec 29, 2006 9:36 pm
Death penalty deaths don't count. Milton Friedman died last year so I think I won, but we'll have to figure it out.

Let me see who I choose this year...

Abe Vigoda
Michael J. Fox
Billy Graham
Charlton Heston
Muhammad Ali
Mickey Rooney
Peter Falk
Peter O'Toole
Fidel Castro
Andy Griffith
Radar • Dec 30, 2006 1:13 pm
Saddam Hussein is dead today, but he didn't count.
lumberjim • Dec 30, 2006 1:32 pm
John Madden
Leonard Nimoy
Terrel Owens
Steven Hawking
Muhammed Ali
Sheldonrs • Dec 30, 2006 1:38 pm
I'm gonna go with Betty Ford on this one. The spouse usually dies within a year or two of the other, expecially after a long marriage.

I'd put money on Nancy Reagan as well.

Paris Hilton is on my wish list though.
Shawnee123 • Jan 2, 2007 3:09 pm
Jerry Springer will be killed by a crazed fan.

Lindsay Lohan will be fatally injured in a car wreck on her way to an AA meeting.

You heard it here first, folks.
Spexxvet • Jan 2, 2007 4:11 pm
1 Mary Kate Olson
2 Charles Barkley
3 Charlton Heston
4 Mel Gibson
5 Ian McKellen
6 Rush Limbaugh
7 Engelbert Humperdink
8 Spike Lee
9 George H W Bush
10 Fidel Castro
BrianR • Jan 2, 2007 7:27 pm
Spexx, is that list a prediction or just wishful thinking?
Spexxvet • Jan 3, 2007 9:15 am
I wouldn't mind Chucky Heston and Rush biting the big one, but the others don't move me one way or the other. It seems that who dies is pretty arbitrary, so I went fairly random, with some emphasis on poor lifestyle choices and poor health. You never know....

(to Easter Hymn) "Saddam Hus-sein is dead to-da-ay, Fa la la la la, la la la la la..."
monster • Feb 8, 2007 9:29 pm
No-one had Anna Nicole Smith, then?

Michael Jackson's the ringer on mine. He was last year too. Perhaps it's just wishful thinking?
footfootfoot • Feb 8, 2007 10:46 pm
Yeah, ANS would have been the payout of all payouts.
Radar • Feb 9, 2007 9:41 am
Wow, Anna Nicole would have been worth 61 points!
monster • Sep 6, 2007 8:08 am
No-one got Pavarotti either.

I couldn't find the dead thread, so I thought I'd resuccitate this one.

71, pancreatic cancer. It was a good life, though, by all accounts
Radar • Sep 6, 2007 11:54 am
He was a rockstar in opera. I'd be surprised if I live to 71
Crimson Ghost • Sep 6, 2007 5:23 pm
01. Chris Benoit
02. Ian Richardson
03. Roscoe Lee Browne
04. Kitty Carlisle Hart
05. Jack Valenti
06. Charles Nelson Reilly
07. Joel Siegel
08. Tammy Faye Bakker Mesner
09. Ingmar Bergman
10. Merv Griffin
Radar • Sep 6, 2007 10:34 pm
Sorry chief, you've got to make your pics by Jan 1 on the year. Naming people who have already died this year doesn't count.
Crimson Ghost • Sep 7, 2007 2:07 am
So...

You're saying...

I didn't win?

Dagnabbit.

I guess I'll try again next year.
spudcon • Sep 12, 2007 10:33 pm
Osama Bin Laden
Fidel Castro
Jimmy Carter
Robert Byrd
John Warner
Larry King
Check the date today, and remember who predicted it first, except Castro, who's a shoe in.

That's what we all thought about Ariel Sharon. :right:
BrianR • Dec 2, 2007 2:08 am
He died yesterday.

I never even gave him a thought!
Urbane Guerrilla • Dec 2, 2007 3:00 am
Surprised me too -- didn't know he was sick.
glatt • Dec 3, 2007 12:17 pm
Speaking of Evel, when I mentioned in front of my kids, they were all "Who's Evel Knievel?" So I had to whisk them off to YouTube to educate them. Now my little boy is really pumped about Evel Knievel and keeps talking about him, with a wild look in his eye. Maybe I screwed up a little there. Bad father.

I'm not playing, but I was looking through a slideshow of celebrity dead for this year.

I found out that Marcel Marceau died in September.

I hadn't heard anything.

lookout123 • Dec 11, 2007 12:39 am

wolf • Dec 11, 2007 12:50 am
That's too cool. I had a couple SSP racers, but never the Evel Knieval.

Ripcord huh? I thought they only had the stand with the crank, didn't know they had a rip cord version. I had a Smash Up Derby car with one of those plastic rip cords.
lookout123 • Dec 11, 2007 10:18 am
i know they had both kinds. i had the rip cord and my cousin had the crank kind. he hated me for it.

in retrospect he might have hated me because i wouldn't let him use mine and he would grind his knuckles to hamburger turning that crank on the cement.

Nobody paid attention!

Wow, I can't believe I got 0. Also 88 points is very impressive. Excellent score Crimson Ghost. We should all agree to kick in $5 or $10 this year to the winner. And let's have a cutoff date for getting the picks in.
