Apparently they don't have to pay a luxury tax on the 51 mil.:mad: His actual contract looks like a relative bargain. It will probably end up being good for them, but I can always hope.:)

Well, despite all their words to the contrary the Yanks are not appreciably younger yet. If Boston gets a closer they'll be the team to beat.

The could always move Papelbon back to closer if a legitmate starting pitcher emerged.

I don't think he'd like that very much, You could see it in his face nearing the end of last year that he wanted to start games.
I don't even think thats an option.
Besides, If the SP's get the kind of batting support they should from this line-up, a first class closer is not needed.
