What do you want for X-mas

rkzenrage • Dec 8, 2006 12:00 am
It has to be stuff (no world peace or less violence) and it has to be for yourself (no, seeing your kids playing with it is not for you).

I want a Mark IV. I have dressed it differently many ways in my mind.
I know it is expensive, but you have to realize that this is something that I live with every waking hour of my life. How much do we spend on things that we use, and depend on, far less?

A Glock36 .45 and shoulder harness.

I want to trick-out my wheelchair, seat-cover etc.

Flash and lenses for my camera.

Why are women's breasts like electric trains?
They're supposed to be for the kids, but Dad always ends up playing with them.

If I were asking Santa Claus (as opposed to my family, all of whom are on tight budgets), I would ask for a high-def capable video projector, and an appropriate screen. (And the time to actually sit down & watch some DVDs, but that's another story.)

Wha'd I say? :(
Thought it would be a good thread.

Steve, I had several gifts that my Dad and uncles "showed me how to use" to death. Some that I never got to play with at all.
Aliantha • Dec 8, 2006 1:10 am
Nothing...nothing at all...I think it was just the gun and the sword cane that worried me a bit. ;) (being afraid of guns and all you know...)
rkzenrage • Dec 8, 2006 1:16 am
Oh. I don't carry much any more. The sword cane is just beautiful IMO... I would not be able to use it effectively & may decide to get the dagger version.
I have a small collection of swords.
I also want a Dagesse sword (or longer one of that style), but I think I may get one of those for my birthday, so I did not list it.
Hoof Hearted • Dec 8, 2006 1:19 am
I want new bedroom furniture, but I will be getting a new camera.
Nikon D-70s.
rkzenrage • Dec 8, 2006 1:21 am
Very cool.
Aliantha • Dec 8, 2006 1:37 am
Actually, I do like the idea of a sword cane. Very James Bondish if you ask me. ;)

Secret agent rkz007?

The usual assortment of tech toys, please. Big flatpanel tv, ps3, one of those ipod thingies, coupla handguns, although gift cert to the gunstore would be better because I haven't made up my mind yet (Sig vs. H&K vs. another Glock), The new overdone Narnia DVD set with extra bonus features I'll never watch, a house, three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree. Probably should hold off on those last ones, though, since I still have a no pets lease. I'll need the house first.
rkzenrage • Dec 8, 2006 1:55 am
Here ya' go... a house.

Nice, but too much beach. I'm not a beachy person. Well, maybe a couple days out of the month, but if you just leave the chocolate near me and sneak away quietly, you'll be pretty much okay.

I'll take one of those beachy houses. I love the beach.

I would like a housekeeper. So every night I'd come home to a clean flat, dinner in the oven and a funny little note telling me what the cats have been doing during the day.

In real terms (though about as unlikely) I'd like to be online at home.
wolf • Dec 8, 2006 1:36 pm
If I could figure out a way to telecommute evaluations for crazy people, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

ha ha ha My father never lived down the time he crashed my brother's toy airplane while "teaching" him how to use it properly.
KinkyVixen • Dec 8, 2006 9:08 pm
Nothing that I'm actually capable of getting. So I'll get whatever people give me...I like giving gifts better anyway.

I don't have a landline phone at home, and with my credit rating they will ask for a substantial deposit before connecting me. Add that to the price of installation, and the cst of the PC and I just don't have that sort of money kicking around.

Saving is on my list of Responsible Behaviour for 2007, so perhaps it's not as much of a fantasy as I suggest. Except I'd rather start with a holiday :)
DanaC • Dec 9, 2006 8:07 am
Sundae, it won't take long to get there :) I have every faith in you.

Hmm....let's see.......the new Terry Pratchet book; 'Amo Amas and All That' intro to Latin; winter coat.......and a new desktop computer with dual core and lots of juicy features!

I can see why that would raise concerns :)

I have a digital camera which has a video setting. So I can film anywhere, I just have to be at work in order to get the film online.

I'm at a desk Mon-Fri, then on a laptop in a shop Saturdays (& occasional Sundays).

Beautiful. Of course that made me start going through the website, making a list, and checking it twice.

I like the Viking swords, and the Roman ones.

I like swords but they are too slow. I kind of have my heart set on this...

Fond of that too... I have some nice tactical knives as well.

I also like the Cold Steel Spike. Being in a wheelchair, I can't get to my pockets very well, especially a powerchair, you have to use a seatbelt.
I use the top one. It is very handy for lots of things.

thats my baby! well worth the investment even if it just gets you away from the TV and out into the big bad world.

i'd like a decent flash for mine for Xmas, but ive already had a Mixman2 and a new mobile phone.

I changed my mind, did not get the sword-cane, got a less expensive sword that I needed for my collection and got a bunch of stuff for my camera, most of the David Attenbourough(sp?) movies, a tazer and some other odds and ends instead.
I can only use a cane to go to the bathroom and to get a drink, pretty much, now, and I'm getting much worse a lot faster... spending that much on a high-end art cane just did not seem smart.
I'll get a lot more use out of my lenses, flash, filters & flix. (My son will like the nature movies too... I love the Living Seas box set I have and have been wanting the rest)
xoxoxoBruce • Dec 31, 2006 10:55 am
I love David Attenborough's shows. But, between his accent/quiet voice, high background noise, and my bad hearing, they are hard for me to follow. I have to watch each show many times to catch it all.
Hmmm...come to think of it...that's not a bad thing. :D

I've been watching movies with the subtitles on - it really helps when you have a lot of background noise, kids, others talking...
rkzenrage • Jan 2, 2007 4:51 pm
I do that at night when my wife is asleep.
xoxoxoBruce • Jan 3, 2007 6:21 pm
What? Porn with dialog?
Sundae • Jan 4, 2007 2:27 pm
I often have subtitles on - because I live on a main road, I find I miss lines of dialogue when lorries or buses go by. If I turn it up loud enough to hear it over the large vehicles, it's too loud for general viewing (especially background music).

Luckily we have a system called teletext here (don't think it's global) which you can access from any TV. Hit 888 and most TV programmes are subtitled. This also helps with some of the accents on American programmes. Without a Trace and CSI New York off the top of my head...

I love it when you say "lorries."

I have a hard time picturing Peter Lorrie making a lot of noise, passing by... more like gliding on little cat feet. :D
