Well what have we here?

Isis • Dec 2, 2006 8:30 pm
Hello, just call me Isis. I've finally decided to take a peak around after hearing about this place from one of my friends. I think the people here seem to like games, so I think I'll kick things off with one. Lets see who can guess my friend's identity. The only hint is that he's a guy.

(To you-know-who: Don't offer any hints of your own, I want to see how people do this ;) )

That would be xxxoooBruce. I think you meant (xo)^3Bruce

Or, possibly, xo³Bruce (x times (o times o times o)).
Isis • Dec 3, 2006 2:55 am
Nope! All negative so far:D

Does your friend's identity have anything to do with what your definition of Is is (e.g. I, sis = sister rather than Egyptian goddess)?

No no, multiplication is Commutative, 3*(2*2*2) does not equal (3*2)*(3*2)*(3*2). You're thinking of the Distributive property, which only works when there is addition or subtraction within the parentheses. For exponents, you must have parentheses if you intend to distribute the exponent across all terms.

Ha! Nope, just picked that name because it had a nice ring to it:p I'll drop a second hint, my friend told me that he isn't one of the veteran members here (ie. hasn't been here for years). Not sure if that's a good hint or not...

Welcome Isis. Speaking as someone who's been here a while, I can say I peaked around here sometime in the early 90's.:D

No, just me on the Cellar. I've gone from the Golden Age to just plain age.;)

Of course, I'm not the only longstanding user here, but I'll let Bruce and Wolf make their own cases.
