This thread is a chatroom! Click here and chat right now! Do it! Click here!
DucksNuts • Nov 16, 2006 8:47 pm
I dont trust you flint
Flint • Nov 16, 2006 9:39 pm
Now your post is a chatroom. Seriously.
Flint • Nov 16, 2006 9:45 pm
Oh, and apaprently, the chat session stays open, while you continue to navigate and post here at this site.
By adding http://www.gabbly.com/ as a prefix to any URL, you add a chat feature. Y'all wanted chat, right?
DucksNuts • Nov 16, 2006 9:51 pm
tis kinda cool actually.
WabUfvot5 • Nov 16, 2006 9:51 pm
Not chat where I have to keep a browser open :P
Flint • Nov 16, 2006 9:54 pm
Browser open to the Cellar, though. And the chat follows you as you navigate the site.
ashke • Nov 16, 2006 10:27 pm

I agree. Chat is teh ghey. But some here were asking for it, so...
LabRat • Nov 17, 2006 10:21 am
Chat rooms almost kept me from getting my master's degree. The debil, they are.
SteveDallas • Jan 3, 2007 9:26 am
I started trying out meebo.com yesterday... all your IM windows in a browser. It reminded me of this chat thing. (Labrat.... you cannot resist! :borg: ;) )
Madman • Jan 3, 2007 1:29 pm
I'm speechless! :p
Urbane Guerrilla • Jan 23, 2007 7:37 am
Do you log in? I can't get the log-in window to do anything.
LabRat • Jan 23, 2007 9:33 am
UG, you should be able to just click where it says "click here" in post #1, and a chat window opens up. I just tried it though, and it gave me a "page can't be displayed" error.
LabRat • Jan 23, 2007 9:51 am
just tried again, and I'm chatting away with SteveDallas. give it another go...
SteveDallas • Jan 23, 2007 9:55 am
Y'all better hurry, before I bore LabRat to death.
glatt • Jan 23, 2007 10:18 am
I stopped by, but had to run. I know my weaknesses, and chat rooms would really be the death of me.
LabRat • Jan 23, 2007 11:06 am
Aha! That was you!
We were wondering!
BigV • Jan 23, 2007 12:00 pm
Very interesting!

The interface is .. I had a little trouble finding the screen after moving away from it momentarily, but it is cool.
lumberjim • Jan 23, 2007 12:44 pm
come chat with me....i'll make you pee
right now! wait, get an empty bottle or something first
lumberjim • Jan 25, 2007 12:43 pm

Shawnee123 • Jan 25, 2007 12:59 pm
How the heck does it work? I can't get my name in there, or any response?
Perry Winkle • Jan 25, 2007 1:14 pm
works for me in FF 2.0.

ignore the login button and just put your name next to the "change" button and hit "change"
Shawnee123 • Jan 25, 2007 1:19 pm
I tried that...hmmm
Shawnee123 • Jan 25, 2007 1:24 pm
F this! Now all the great posters are chatting and I can't chat and now lunch is over.

Great idea! (grumble grumble)
Shawnee123 • Jan 25, 2007 1:26 pm
STOP IT
Shawnee123 • Jan 25, 2007 1:29 pm
Stop the freaking presses...the Cellar has been around since what, 1990? Now everyone's going to a freaking chat crap shit site instead of posting on the cellar. I can't get mine to work.

Shut down the Cellar...apparently it's obsolete.
Sundae • Jan 25, 2007 1:41 pm
I'm out.
Undertoad • Jan 25, 2007 1:41 pm
We stopped specifically so you wouldn't feel bad.

Cellar chat that doesn't work for everybody, doesn't work at all... more work is needed on this problem
lumberjim • Jan 25, 2007 1:41 pm
spaz
Sundae • Jan 25, 2007 1:42 pm
Don't be so offense you mong
Flint • Jan 25, 2007 1:45 pm
oh man the funniest shit just happened on chat
Elspode • Jan 25, 2007 1:45 pm
I wonder if it is a Java thing? Shawnee is on an institutional computer, I believe, and perhaps it isn't up to snuff on whatever is allowing the chat client to run.

Shawnee123 • Jan 25, 2007 2:44 pm
Today be grand...I was SURE I had replied to this:
Do-over:

All: don't stop having fun on my account. It just really sucked and I'm grumpy. :brikwall: <It felt like that without the smiling

Flint: Bite me:worm:

SG: What's a mong?

LJ: you ain't seen spaz yet! :bitching:

I need a :joint: I'd settle for a  but I'd rather have a :fumette:

Quick, before I freak out again! :p
Elspode • Jan 26, 2007 9:28 pm
Its too tedious waiting for posts to appear so that I can revel in everyone's goddamn hilarity and cleverness. Come to the fucking chat room...even though it isn't perfect, it is what it is.
lumberjim • Jan 26, 2007 11:27 pm
lots of us in here now, c'mon
limey • Jan 27, 2007 1:19 pm
Howzabout somebody sets a time in advance so that people in not-an-American-timezone can stay up and join in?
lumberjim • Jan 27, 2007 3:47 pm
i'll try to be there around 10-11 tonight if you want.
Elspode • Jan 27, 2007 5:23 pm
I may be able to drop in late. Got a CD release party to attend.
lumberjim • Jan 27, 2007 10:18 pm
i'm in. coming?
limey • Jan 28, 2007 5:45 am
Well, I blew that, din't I? I didn't check back and see your invitation, LJ. But 3.30am (which is your 10.30pm I suppose) isn't my best time unless there's a lot of shit happening in my life and I can't sleep. I'm glad to say things're calmer now. ...

It's not that I didn't like what it is...it's that it doesn't work for me. Everything else I am able to do from my work computer...except this one thing. Bummer.

It was fun dropping into the chat room after my party Fri night.

I just worry that we'll lose the essence of the Cellar...chatting doesn't stay and can't be reviewed and commented on by others who aren't on at the time all the fun is happening. It is fun, so I hope some day I can try it and make it work! :)
lumberjim • Jan 29, 2007 12:55 pm
yeah, but that's the beauty of it. it's NOT immortalized. you can speak somewhat freely and not have to worry about someone quoting you days later. for instance, .....OH, WAIT. what is said in chat, stays in chat....
Shawnee123 • Jan 29, 2007 12:56 pm
Great, so it's a forum to make fun of Shawnee without her ever knowing? ;)
Elspode • Jan 29, 2007 1:40 pm
I'm pretty sure I said some stuff Friday night that *no one* wants to remember...
Flint • Jan 29, 2007 1:42 pm
I mentioned a few things that I wouldn't normally discuss (on a board that archives everything, that I access from my desk at work).
monster • Jan 29, 2007 1:45 pm
I was perfectly behaved.

Elspode • Jan 29, 2007 2:19 pm
Yes, despite our implorations for you to do something naughty, and then share the pics with us.
LabRat • Jan 29, 2007 3:55 pm
If we shouldn't use the chat room because someone might miss something, then no one had better ever meet IRL, right?

Shawnee123 • Jan 30, 2007 8:57 am
I don't know, what's an IRL?
lumberjim • Jan 30, 2007 10:15 am

in real life. face to face.
I was trying to be sarcastic. several people here know each other on the outside.
in *looks both ways* the real world![/whisper]
wolf • Jan 30, 2007 10:33 am
I wouldn't go so far as to use the word "real."

LOL...there's a world outside here? :p
LabRat • Jan 30, 2007 12:17 pm
maybe, maybe not...
Shawnee123 • Jan 30, 2007 12:49 pm
woohooo, I just got chat to work. I held down control when I opened it so it might be a pop up blocker thing.
Undertoad • Jan 30, 2007 1:31 pm
Now testing on the home page, gabbly chat with a gabbly button. Please let me know if you ever see more than 0 chatters on the button.

Hey, I contributed something! And, true to y'all's original feelings about me, my contribution will be a worthless/destructive influence on the community! AG 4-EVA

I've just been in chatting with SG, LJ, glatt, funkykule and clodfobble. That's a great place for the button because you can see who's browsing the cellar, at least ....

No way, Flint. Your contributions are always very contributive! :) And my reply shows your subliminal message. Bwahhaahaaaa

I like the chat button, by the way.
Clodfobble • Feb 5, 2007 8:43 pm
So, I've popped in the chat room a few times since it got added to the main page, and in general I think it's a cool function. But I got to thinking about how it works... when I click the link, it reloads the Cellar in the background, but it logs me out, and if I understand correctly this is because my cookie exists on my machine, not their servers. But if it's pulling all the page information through its own website, and I were to log back in to the Cellar with the Gabbly window open, wouldn't that mean my password was going through their site and not in fact secure at all?

Not that I really think anyone is that desperate to post things under my username, I'm just curious.
Undertoad • Feb 5, 2007 8:49 pm
Guess: it's because it uses cellar dot org as the page for its chat, and on exit it reloads cellar dot org, while you browse at www dot cellar dot org?
