What's in you drawers? "Kitchen"

busterb • Nov 14, 2006 7:06 pm
I'm trying to learn my new camera, rain here so no outside shots. I have something like 16 drawers in my kitchen. Some of the crap has been there, maybe 50+ years. Yeah I know too much time.

What''re you doing with my toolbox in your kitchen???
Elspode • Nov 14, 2006 8:02 pm
Man, I'm glad I looked at the picture instead of just reading the thread title and breaking out the camera. I *so* had my Fruit of the Looms around my ankles...

Great thread idea, Buster. I almost wish I hadn't moved yet. My kitchen junk drawer was *awesome*, but it is difficult to appreciate it with just a visual. The smell was unique, too.

Too much time or not, the stuff has time in grade, so you can't move it now.

I don't have a kitchen drawer but my stuff drawer's pretty pink:

Ok I'll play. We moved into this house July 1 and this drawer was very organized and tidy. The mess below has occurred in the 4 1/2 months since:

Isn't it against some law or another to have actually useful things in your junk drawer?

Unfortunately, my kitchen doesn't have room for a junk drawer, as such. One for the plastic bags and tinfoil (you can imagine that I go through a lot of tinfoil for the hats), another for tableware, and the third for kitchen gadgetry (pizza cutters, spatulas, cake testers, instructions for the George Foreman Grill and the Nuke-a-Matic. I do have a basket of stuffed vegetables that stare at me while I'm pretending to try to cook, though.

I only have 1 drawer in my kitchen, and it's full of plastic bags. So here's my desk drawer.
Shawnee123 • Nov 15, 2006 1:27 pm
Since I just moved, this is what most of my drawers look like currently:

However, this is what my place looks like (sans man and happiness)

Now, I know you have gone to the kitchen in the new house...and we just packed up the junk drawer and plopped it into one in there. I'll show you tonight and you can take a picture of it for everyone...quite the mess.

PS...didn't bring the smell with us, though.
Shawnee123 • Nov 15, 2006 5:20 pm
Chip clips! A staple of any respectable junk drawer!
Elspode • Nov 15, 2006 7:05 pm
Well, yeah...I did know that I guess. I think it may have actually gained some contents over the last drawer...since this one is full, and it is twice as big as its predecessor.
busterb • Nov 18, 2006 8:35 am
Drawer #3. I do have some drawers with kitchen tools, just taking in order as you enter kitchen.

Funny, isn't it? No matter how messy your junk drawer, you know what is in there and exactly where in the drawer to find it...
Hubby wants me to organize. If I 'organize' it, I'll never find anything.
limey • Nov 18, 2006 1:42 pm
It's called the "deep litter filing system" ... :D

Busterb, what are you storing in those various prescription pill bottles? Sure doesn't look like pills...

Hopefully, buster never looks for his meds with the lights out. Screws and pills sound about the same when you shake 'em in a plastic prescritption bottle. :3_eyes:

Smart of you to keep the spare batteries for the vibrator in there.
Elspode • Nov 19, 2006 4:43 pm
Yeah, and it must be a hell of a vibrator...those are D cells!

Stange how two people can have not one thing the same in their junk drawers, yet they still look and feel exactly the same, isn't it?
busterb • Nov 19, 2006 8:41 pm
Drawer #4. Getting close to kitchen junk.

Those are some very intimidating spatulas.

And I think the CDC wants to talk to you about your slotted spoon.
busterb • Dec 21, 2006 1:41 pm
Any interest in seeing more of my drawers?
DanaC • Dec 21, 2006 1:54 pm
I don't have a kitchen drawer.....actually I only have one drawer in my entire house and that's my desk drawer....

The reason it's as tidy as it is, is that it's so frikkin shallow I can hardly fit anything into it.....hence the general clutter of the desk it's attached to.
DanaC • Dec 21, 2006 2:00 pm
Just to the right of that picture.....is where my dog sleeps (his actual bed is behind the blue chair in a scraggy heap where he's just flung it about in a huff.) I hadn't realised until yesterday how much he's filthied up that wall and the bottoms of the curtains. I am beginning to wonder if I shouldn't just take him to a pet shop and swap him for a hamster:P

That little grey spodge by the desk leg, by the way, is a small remaining stuffed body part from a toy he's dismantled, and he's very kindly buried it amongst the wires.

What is it with you people of little drawers? How can you not have drawers? Is it a British thing? :p
DanaC • Dec 21, 2006 2:07 pm
No not British. I used to have many drawers in my old house. In fact, I've spent most of my life with a fairly abundant supply of drawers in which to stuff things....I don't really have space for more than the minimum in terms of pieces of furniture and there are no inbuilt drawers in the kitchen or anything like that. I don't know if the size of the house comes through in photos. I had to measure every wall and space to find exact sized furniture to be able to fit it all in. I cannot move the furniture around.....it's all in the only place it would go. Couldn't for instance fit a washing machine or dishwasher in there...even the sofa is a small two seater....

*smiles* great landlords though, so I'd be a fool to move.

I'm sure I speak for all of the male Dwellars here when I say that I'd be more than happy to have a peek at what's in any of our female members' drawers. LabRat and Jinx can be excused, unless of course they'd like to contribute shots of their front sides to complement their original postings.

Buster...I'm sure the ladies would enjoy a peek at your miscellaneous hardware as well... :D
DanaC • Dec 21, 2006 2:19 pm
Well ya know how much we chicks like a bit of hardware:P
