Heinlein never reckoned with the internet. He didn't have the chance. BBS's like these provide a substitute both for the strong drink and the shooting at tax collectors. Do we not use heady language, here on these Everyman's soapboxes? Do we not fire off in a big way?

Strong drink . I am not one for strong drink ( I drink wine very smugly ) , but I have recently moved to the Caribbean where one cannot avoid the rum .
Had a bit of rum last night , after a meal with wine . My husband told me that I spent the night talking in my sleep . Not to tax-collectors , but to my pupils . Oh yes , what did I say ? ON ECRIT LA DATE DANS LE CAHIER / ON NE FRAPPE PAS / ON SE TAIT LORSQUE LE PROFESSEUR PARLE ..... et caetera .
But here is the twist : did you know that if you are French , you can avoid being taxed if you buy a house in Martinique where they all drink rum ?

Although I cannot yet comprehend what is written in this thread, I feel on the cusp of a breakthrough. I am intrigued.
